I know some things. Scroll up.

I've dropped a few hints in various places on GAF but I obviously can't show any proof of anything so...hard to know what to do with my knowledge

If you're unable or unwilling to prove your insider knowledge, then you aren't going to get far here making bold assertions. You can talk to a mod privately without posting sensitive information.

Already talked to mods. Don't worry about me. Not gonna drop the bigger things I know that haven't been mentioned elsewhere, but if they get leaked I'll be happy to confirm.

I don't know anything about software in development, only hardware.

Edit: Was willing to show a few things to mod team as evidence, with the hopes that they would post and keep me anonymous. They said they won't post those kinds of things for other posters. So I won't divulge any extra spicy info, just basic stuff like RAM here in this thread. I think the specs were leaked in another thread anyway. I don't follow these threads too much tbh, because I already know (most things anyway).

Aha okay I won't do it then :)
Just to be clear I never thought that they would go for more than 4 but I just didn't want to rule it out because it is totally possible these days.

You are gonna win.
Hows 3.2 available for games sound?

Talk to a mod, or just spill the beans, but cut this shit out.

So, you're verified but are afraid you're not anonymous? And you're now claiming the leaked specs from last week are correct?

I've seen you post some stuff around, much appreciated assuming you are legit. Maybe we'll get lucky and it will be upped before launch lol. Any info you can provide on the memory bandwidth?

guess we can say goodbye to robust 3rd party support. Not worth making a special version of a game for a single console with a probable small install base.

I didn't send them any proof because they weren't willing to accept it and post anonymously on my behalf.

You should take the leaked specs as accurate based on the information I have. Anyone got a quick link to that thread I can doublecheck? I remember glancing at it and it seemed right...I just did a search and couldn't find it.

The dev-kit from that "leak" is supposedly a Jetson TX1, it doesn't really tell us if it will have the same specs in the final model.

Quad-core A57, 4GB LPDDR4 RAM etc

This is accurate based on what I know. Of course things can change.

The one that had its own thread? Thought the source was iffy on that one.

Everyone knew the devkit had a Tegra X1 in it, so it wasn't inaccurate. The leak described a bog standard Tegra X1. There was some rumor that the devkit was a placeholder for a newer chip that would offer a modest improvement in performance and battery life.

Perhaps it would be wise to move this discussion to the other thread instead of clogging up this one. I'll see if I can find it and put this information in that one...or someone else can do it.

It would seem at least one item has been updated since that Devkit leak. If the rumor of a USB C connection is correct for the dock connector, then whatever chip is in the Switch would require support for USB 3.1.

Well so it pretty much comes down to whether or not those devkits are pretty much close to final hardware/devkits, or if there is/will be another dev kit with significant improvements.

4GB of RAM tho...

Yeah those specs are same as the devkit info I also have. I'll add this as well:

USB 2.0 x 2
USB 3.0 x 1

Was that mentioned anywhere?
Yeah, that's been known for a bit now. The leak isn't perfect. Use it as a guideline, but not an exact blueprint.

Haha alright I don't really follow these threads as I said. Just saw those USB ports listed up there without the number of each.

How about record/capture button? Rumble?

I just bumped the thread. This thread is about cart size, so we can move spec discussion to the necessary thread.

My bad... will do. Going to the gym first though.

The PS4 only allows about 5 gigs of RAM to be used anyway. Assuming that the Switch's OS takes up a gig and assuming that the RAM amount hasn't changed from the previous dev kit (that leak is apparently an older dev kit), that's only roughly 2 gigs less of usable RAM.

The fact that you were expecting RAM parity on the Switch with the PS4 Pro is more concerning...
The fact that you are jumping to conclusions is more disheartening. I never expected parity with any of its specs but I expected a closer gap than this.

The RAM and card size shouldn't be a problem. Any ports from PS4/Xbone were already going to have a reduced resolution and smaller/more compressed assets because of the power difference. And exclusives will obviously be developed with these limitations in mind already.

TBH, I'm expecting very little to no PS4/XBO ports for Switch. Downscale ports like Wii version of Dead Rising from X360 version, yes. Direct gameplay ports with asset adjustments? No.
