Sony will be publishing Nioh in both Europe and North America

Speaking at a PlayStation Pro event earlier today, Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi revealed that Sony will be publishing Nioh in both Europe and North America. The PlayStation 4 exclusive is due out in February 2017, and Hayashi said that the team is working with Sony in order to "get the game into as many hands as possible".

Feels more like a move to ensure Nioh stays exclusive. Of all japanese devs, KT is the least likely to need help publishing stuff over here.

That whole situation shook the western branches to their cores. Even as much penance they've paid for that mistake, it was still one of the most remarkable misreads in the industry.

It was bizarre. I only had to see footage of DS at TGS running at about 12FPS and just had to get the Asian version. I don't know how they thought it wouldn't appeal.

I think they just mean they're leveraging Sony's marketing power.

Anyway, I was wondering why the Nioh website's western links were all updated recently: http://teamninja-studio.com/nioh/

All the western links were changed to:

https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/nioh-ps4/
https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/games/nioh-ps4/
https://www.playstation.com/fr-fr/games/nioh-ps4/
https://www.playstation.com/de-de/games/nioh-ps4/
https://www.playstation.com/it-it/games/nioh-ps4/
https://www.playstation.com/es-es/games/nioh-ps4/

Nioh used to have a dedicated website on Team Ninja at links such as:

https://teamninja-studio.com/nioh/us/

But now they just redirect to PlayStation.com.

Is this new, too?

Only On PlayStation®

I don't remember seeing it on the official pages before. I think we can now safely say it's a full exclusive.

Possible forever exclusive.

I dunno why anyone ever doubted that. Every press release I've received from Koei Tecmo about Nioh has included "exclusively for the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system."

Its been mentioned many times as PS4 exclusive throughout the years and now this, looks like it is a real PS4 exclusive not timed or anything

Hope springs eternal for people hoping to skate by this generation without having to buy a "proprietary black box."

Yes. Koei Tecmo is a pretty weak publisher overseas, so this would be a large step up for them.
Kou Shibusawa made an appearance on Sony's conference and now they're publishing this game overseas for them. I wonder if we'll see more Sony/Koei collaborations in the future

Nice!!! :D

I don't remember if ITA language was already confirmed, but if Sony publish it then i'm pretty confident they wil localize it.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

If Sony wants to make Nioh a series or give us Ninja Gaiden 4 I'd be more than fine with that.

I hope someone at Sony remind them that they have a franchise called Ninja Gaiden.
