How is this low to anyone? This is about 4 times what I expected... Also seems silly to compare a 30 year old "system" to other console launches...

Crazy good.

Im not buying one or a mini nes. Nostalgia got no power over me!

But good to see.

I keep hinting at my GF to buy me one for Christmas and now she's on the hunt for it since she's surprised at how popular it got.

Gonna go to Tokyo tomorrow and see if we can find one. Or maybe just buy a REAL famicom at Super Potato! :D

Nah, that would make too much sense for Nintendo.

i bet it happens. the name of this device in japan is "nintendo classic mini: FAMILY COMPUTER" with typography to match, which is not something you do if you're only going to make one nintendo classic mini and something you *would* do if you had a really great idea for how to make a ton of money.

next shipment is hinted to be next month... so... it still can make it as your Christmas gift :p

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I'm happy for the NES/Famicom Mini.

Though the price of the system is as expensive as a PS4/Wii U game in Japan so it's sweet selling point so comparing it to the PS4/Wii U isn't fair.

Nice sales!

I'll admit to adding to these numbers, having imported one myself as well as purchasing the NES Classic Mini locally. I just couldn't say "no" to a mini Famicom. If they release a Super Famicom Mini/Super Nintendo Mini, I'll likely do the same.

I am prepared for it!

That's what you keep telling yourself - except that it's always there, clawing in the back of your mind, waiting, dormant---and then one day, you're walking out the store with two units, an 8-bit Mario Amiibo and a Donkey Kong barrel shaped holder for 3DS cards!

Since they have a system with enough power to emulate probably up to N64 - they have a nice joker at hand.

Whenever they experience a bad business year or might miss expectations on something, they could just wip out a Gameboy, SNES, N64, GBC, GBA Classic Mini. They have the tech already, they just need a different mold and an emulator.
I wouldn't expect this to become a yearly thing though, they want to/have to focus on the Switch next year.

Those sales are pretty awesome though. If they manage to keep stock up, they'll manage to sell several (2?) Million this year worldwide.

Oh god, yes. A GameBoy with many titles included and a modern screen!

Color would be a good one to base it on, has a nice big area surrounding the screen that they could turn into a screen, put a 640x572 screen in it and let you toggle between bordered(3x) and full(4x) mode.

As I've said before, what a mistake it was not to give this an SD card sized slot and sell additional games for it.

Maybe they'll take 2017 off to let the Switch breathe, but I do see more NES mini iterations in the future.

Possibly, but I wouldn't be surprised if an alternate version of the Switch turns up for late 2018. They pulled off the DS lite and Wii launch year pretty successfully anyway.

I really do hope this gives way to an SNES Mini. I don't have any interest in this but would love one of those.

Not a mistake.
Opportunity cost isn't there.
I dunno man. Sell a 1-2GB SD card in a small NES game shell that pops in to the slot on the unit, add wifi to the base itself and sell NES games for a few bucks a piece.

I bet they could keep the price the same and forsake a little margin for the gains they would make on digital/addition accessory sales.

Every Nes game can fit in a 237 mb card
