I have zero hype, zero interest but I have it pre ordered and I'll try it. I have not followed the game at all and it's my first FF since X on the ps2.

Is the game more mature and grounded ? Or a complete wtf fest. In my younger years I enjoyed X but looking at vids now it's a chringefest. I don't think I can play a game like that now.

Anything else I can deal with I guess. But if the overall game is light hearted Jap pop soundtrack with animie inspiration then I'm out. No offence to anyone but it's not me.

Don't bother playing this one. It seems like Japanese games are not your thing at this point

Some of my fondest memories are of ff 7 to 10.

I definitely feel it's more in the vein of FFVII and FFVIII than FFXIII.

I thought you'd seen it/otherwise. There might be multiple videos of it (at this point I would assume so) and tbh all the videos are labelling any "high level" fight as a boss.

Oh, you liked the PS1 FF's ? Nevermind then, if you're okay with the whole "Bromance" thing going on between the characters in FFXV, maybe you'll like the game.

The music is amazing by the way.

I mean, it's not about it being that "that bad", but from what you said it looks like FF games aren't for you anymore.

The game is a lot more grounded than previous entries. Don't let the character design fool you. That's just a product of it being a 2006 game.

It's probably the open world game with the best combat system on par with Dragon's Dogma. Keep the preorder

The spoiler thread only encourages more open spoilers because all too often folks go diving into the thread to openly talk about shit and then realize afterwards they're in like, they Amazon chart thread or something. lol

That fucking happened with Titanfall 2 where a thread about the quality of the campaign and other recently released shooters was going and then some doofus dropped in blabbing about the ending. "Oh Derp! Thought this was the spoiler thread duh". You ain't gonna be safe anywhere. Lol

I think as far as the actual core elements of the game go, it's more grounded than "anime". A realistic world with fantasy monsters, an evil army, and purely symphonic music. It's what you want from an RPG.

It's just that story will be told in a way that doesn't shy away from that anime melodrama. There will be over-wrought emotionalism, sentimentality, cutseyness etc.

So it all depends on what you are willing to tolerate.
