Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

Just reached Chap 10. I already read the spoilers and already know the rest of the game will be linear. It really feels like they wanted to make the second continent open also but ran out of time. When leaving for Altissia, they even mentioned that the Regalia was in the boat too, alluding to the possibility of the car travelling to other lands with them. It also felt like a moment where the game should open up even more after Altissia, with the whole mood of the scene before we left the Lucian continent.

Such a waste.

So this is the fabled FFXV Spoiler Thread...
*setting foot in here for the very first time*
Now that I finished the game I got a lot of reading to do. What are the juicest parts, when we were told over in the regular FFXV threads you guys all were freaking out here? XD

Man, there was like no resolve or anything at the end. I'm really sad now.
None of it made any sense. I was hoping things would get explained, but no.
..I'm gonna need a while, I think.

But the Noctis voice actor killed it in the last chapter.

Mainly Luna dying and the 4chan leaks being confirmed had everyone freaked out.

I'm glad I stayed mostly spoiler free even though I was always very informed about the game. I only knew that Ardyn was going to be the last boss because of a recommended Youtube video (that we probably all saw, lol) but I already guessed that and I knew Luna was dying for sure. Not because of the leak but because she literally spelled it out for you in Kingsglaive a multitude of times. Surprisingly I was still taken off guard when it happened. I didn't think it would happen like that.

This game's story is so bitter sweet. :( It really affected me, as I told you already in the other thread. I don't think I'll be willing to play it again for that reason. But I guess, as messy as the story was, to affect me that deeply, they did some parts very right.

Oh yeah, I also have to rage about that uh Ruvus guy? Luna's bro.

How he suddenly switched sides with zero context other than some stupid cutscene with Luna. I mean, he feels sorry for her at that point, but the Imperial literally sent everything to try and kill her in Kingsglaive.

So forced..

I still think the idea of the empire killing gods and screwing over the entire world in the process, only to get screwed over themselves by going all Umbrella Corp on their own people, is one of the boldest stories ever told in a Final Fantasy game. The main cast has it rough, too. Ignis going blind was unexpectedly very tragic, more so than you'd expect if you had read that bullet point in a spoiler. Noct's entire story arc is about coming to terms with his destiny, and he not only fails to save Luna, but never manages to come to terms with it. He wakes up ten years later to find out the bad guy essentially won, much of the world is dead, and he has to sacrifice himself to set things right again. The night before the final battle is essentially him being really broken about the whole affair and not wanting to go through with it. Then he dies.

I had an inkling the story would be dark in chapters 1-9, but it was more of a creeping feeling than anything else, like a bad premonition. I didn't expect it to be so consistently devastating from chapters 9-15. Even the big evil bad guy is tragic. He got screwed over in the past so badly that you can't really fully hate him.

He was never really allied to the empire. In KG he wanted the ring (presumably to save Tenebrae or the world by himself) but it rejected him and burned off his arm instead. So he did the next best thing: take the King's glaive with the intention of giving it to the chosen ring bearer. I still don't know why he attacked the group in the base, though.

He was very much allied with the empire. He wanted to kill Regis badly, and he forced Luna to go to Crown City to be used as bait.

He wanted to kill Regis so that he could get the ring. His loyalty was forced, and he played into it for that reason, but he never had the intent of keeping it once he got powerful enough. He was using the empire to get power, and it didn't work. At that point he realizes his sister had a point and turns around. At least, that's how I read into it.

I don't know if he knew they planned on killing Luna. If he did, then... I guess he was willing to sacrifice anything for the ring.

Because he obviously was not under control since he was turning into a Daemon? He struggles to even ask the guys to "Kill him" at the start of the fight.
Not that base, the other Nifleheim base. When they're trying to get the Regalia back, he attacks them and is driven off.

He also wanted to kill Regis because he blamed him for the death of his parents. That was the primary reason.
That too.

Ravus is a dumbass. That's all I got to say about him.

Well beaten the game. I guess people did survive, just not Noctis and maybe the bros.

Still pondering the campfire scene in the ending. Originally, I thought it took place before the final battle but now, I'm not as certain. Noct isn't wearing the ring, for one. And the implications of it being him talking to his brothers in the afterlife is even more devastating.

(The game doesn't always do a good job of selling the emotional ties between the four. You get the jokey banter but not necessarily the intimacy of true friendship. But in that scene, I believed it.)

He took out the ring and wore it once they're back to Insomnia

He puts his ring on when he gets to Insomnia, it's in a cutscene.

Hello, spoiler thread. I can finally enter here after finishing the game (apparently there's some great post-game stuff to do, so i'll do that later).

I'm level 59 now and I'm having a hard time levelling up. The quests I have are all extremely low level and the hunts don't really reward that much XP relative to how much I need per level. Seems like most of the content in the game was under level 50.

There's also the fact that the few high level quests I have seem to have a problem with difficulty spikes. The level 55 Costlemark dungeon is difficult to finish even as a level 59. It's also 10 times harder and longer than any other dungeon.

I know there are tier 2 dungeons that you can unlock and the lowest one is level 55 but I am not ready to do them just yet.

Any tips ?

that puzzling face
Start grinding hardcore - most of the time you'd spend would be traveling location to location, so if you buff up, park yourself where you can get a bunch of high level enemies and keep whistling (godsend feature), you'll get up to 100k+ XP stored which you then blow at once with the multiplier paid for by selling drops.

Where do I find high level non hunt/quest enemies ?

It's hard to tell, but the car gets a (pretty excellent) heroic moment towards the very end, so even if linear was the plan all along it's clear they wanted to have the Regalia go out with a bang, so it'd follow you right to the end.

Here's something that I first saw on reddit: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/932981-final-fantasy-xv/74659761

Will get you like 30-40 levels at once.

I think the fate of the three bros in the ending was made ambiguous on purpose. It's like Tabata had a checklist for "great FF plot points" and he made sure to have all such points in the story. For example the tragic sacrifice (like Galuf and Aerith), the noble anti-villain's death (like Gilgamesh and Cid Raines), the ruined world, the ambiguous deaths of party members (like Shadow, the FFVII planet, Vivi, etc.).

wtf was ravus actually about that, hes never developed, hes just switched from bad to good.

He could have been a decent character if he was in another game. I think they were trying to go for him being an ambiguous character, only to reveal he was actually working with the Empire to protect his sister or whatever. It's just that this game skips over every detail, explains nothing, does nothing with their pretty great cast, it's a shame.

Ravus was obviously meant to be a main antagonist in the multi-episode "Versus Epic" before all that was compressed into a single game.

Which is absolutely nothing like he was in kingsglaive

I was just going through an old article and come across this interesting piece of information that I glossed over in the past.

Hashimoto replied that Final Fantasy XV is a large scale game and many stories may come at a later time.

"A World Of The Versus Epic" Trademark Hints At More Final Fantasy XV

This was in 2013 so keep that in mind, after the whole 'Future of Final Fantasy' post-E3.

I found a campsite north of Mt Rakanawhatever by flying over it, but it's not possible to enter the area. I even managed to mark an unreachable mineral deposit lol

It's a good thing that it is not a series anymore. I always hated a series in a series. Fuck FFX-2, FF7 spin offs, and FUCK FF13 series as a whole.

I am getting older, it is quite sad to be stuck with the shitpile FF13 series for almost a decade. I rather have a new FF every 5 years.

Hmmmm, I agree.

If they wanted it to be a single game, they should have completely scrapped everything from Nomura and started from scratch.

That is what I would have done. There is too much Nomura baggage with this game. The gameplay was very good. The story wasn't there. I think the game was rushed. It feels like Xenogears all over again except opposite. The gameplay was good, but story was lacking.

Ravus was confusing, 70% of what's going on behind the scenes with him is missing.

(I want to point out that "Ravus" means "Gray" in latin, so him being an ambiguous character was to be expected)

He really loved his sister though and his character also comes across as a coward who wanted power. He was jealous of her sister's love for Noctis and told her multiple times to leave him.

I really hope that someday We'll be able to explore the Lucis continent, that would be fabulous!

As well as the Nifelheim, would love to see what the imperial city looks like...

Maybe an expansion... and Please SE, make Aranea, Luna, Cor and Iris playable characters, or at least as party guests...

I'm not arguing otherwise. He was probably initially written as an interesting and nuanced character, but we only got a glimpse of that, like with a lot of the plot points and characters in the game.

He was basically jealous and bitter towards the Lucians and felt powerless after his mother was killed by the empire, I got that.

Magus is Tetsuya Nomura's favorite character in Chrono Trigger so I think it's obviously what the inspiration for Ravus and his sisterly love was. They even have a similar hairstyle.
That's interesting, now that you mention it I can definitely see the similarities.

I have no particular affection for Luna (who does?) but I did like Aranea and wish she had more screen time. Her sass was always appreciated.

She needs a DLC ASAP. With hunter Iris too. Some campaign set in the 10 years after Noctis get crystallized. Something meaty, with tons of crazy weapons to upgrade with Cid, sidequests, mega bosses, everything.

The villain? The ultimate hunt. Ultros of course, who is here to collect ladies as always, like the damn creep he is.

Make sure you have Rare Coins and Debased coins etc, craft magic with them to create Expericast. The higher multiply level the better so add everything you have. Then use that spell on high level enemies. I think using it once is enough. This way I got like 25k exp from random mobs in the Ravatogh dungeon. Before that, you can also eat stuff for EXP buff (mother and child rice bowl, look in Lestallum for the eureka). Before I knew it, I had 150-200k. Then sleep in Altissia for 3x multiplier. You'll be level 70+.

There are probably far better places to use Expericast on (like Costlemark itself if you can win there), but as it happened I was at ravatogh when I tried it. Guides also seem to recommend farming the Bandersnatch.

EDIT: magic spam seems to be the best. So the lowest attack level possible you cast over and over on a strong enemy until its all depleted. Apparently Wiz has 50% EXP boost meal.

So in the guide it's written that Ifrit was the cause of the starplague and also Ardyn is his servant. Now that I see all these important tid bits... why have they released it like this? It could have been so so much better. Makes me really sad.

Things like Ardyn being a Lucis could have been more clear for people that don't consume more media or better explained through flashbacks and all. Explaining that the gods are at fault for the plague (or rather Ifrit, cause he was a traitor and released the parasyte). And of course way more.

Also Prompto and Cidney confirmed at the end? That kid that grew old and fetched Noctis said something like Prompto watching for Cidney or something like that. So pretty much confirmed.

Also why does Bahamut have eyeleashes, but it also doesn't make sense that Aranea is Bahamut. So much dumb shit. Urgh.

Edit: Also everyone dieing or hurting themselves (thanks story DLC!) offscreen was the fucking worst. Blatant DLC advertisement "Hey something would have been there, but you can buy it later to get to know the rest", or Lunas white dog dieing offscreen (the old lady in Tenebrae tells you this) and also not visiting Tenebrae and more. So much potential.

Wat. Aranea is not Bahamut.

Bahamut's eyelashes are just part of its design. They simply went with a more humanoid Bahamut this time around, unlike the natural or mechanical dragons of previous FF titles.

Yeah no way Aranea is Bahamut. That would mean she was in the fucking Crystal and the most important Astral of all. Not to mention why would she flat out work for the Empire? She had no double agenda, was just disappointed in their change of ways. I don't buy that.

The reason I like her character is because she seems to be perfectly honest and without any selfish goals. She joined the imperial army because hunting didn't rake in the cash anymore. She left because hunting was viable again and the Empire were shitheads. Then she set up that stuff with Biggs and Wedge and helped hunting. I think it would be lame if this character turns out to be an Astral. It doesn't add up, even not in this game.

Gentiana was mysterious all around, could warp and speak to the mind, knew everything about the Oracle and safeguarded her. She was a good fit for Shiva and it came as no surprise.
