What on earth..

The game would benefit from being on more platforms esp. if someone only sticks to one console (that isn't PS4). nothing fo value is lost and more people get to experience it this way.
Personally, I'd double dip if it releases on PC as well.

I'm so glad they are basically doing 1:1 remakes, i'm really looking forward to this now.

Next can we get the same treatment for the Spyro trilogy? :D

The more people can play these games the better. I'm hoping it goes full PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch!

This. While I don't doubt the overwhelming majority of its audience will be on PS4, unless Sony is bankrolling this, there's no reason it shouldn't be available to anyone that wants to play it, regardless of their hardware preference.

If Sony were funding development, it'd be publishing the game, which isn't the case. It's likely coughed up some cash for temporary exclusivity, though, as both it and Acti are being rather coy about just how much of a PS4 exclusive the compilation is.

Looking at the screenshots in Playstation store and WOW. It looks so much better on my TV and the game seem to have more color. I can also see how hairy Crash is.

I'm pretty sure Sony owns the publishing rights to Crash 1-Bash while Universal (Activision) licensed the franchise.

In similar situations: Sony funded a portion of the development and got Street Fighter V to be a console exclusive. Yes it was on PC, but Sony paid for both. Sony controls who touches SFV unless Capcom pays Sony off. Mass Effect had this same issue and EA had to pay off Microsoft for the publishing rights to ME1. Seems Activision has to approach Sony with the right price if they want a budgeted title to be put on Xbox.

That's my speculation, but prove me wrong.

Acti would never let Sony publish a game they owned regardless of how much of a hand they had in this getting off the ground to be fair

I remember the first crash to be much more worse in terms of gameplay in comparison to the next 2 games... so I hope they will pack it all to be the same!

That said I love what I see for now!

I mean, I'm not saying the games never will be multiplatform but John Drake certainly made it sound like these remasters were only possible because of him and his team's work.

Not to mention he also said Sony was heavily involved with the project.
There was a tweet about that as well but for some reason he deleted it

If I were to guess, the remasters will be exclusive to PS4 for a whole year or even longer.
After that, they're going to be available for other platforms.

Doing some digging, it looks like the idea of the remasters was Sony's from the start so...

That's my theory as well, it is similar to the Marvel fighters situation.

Some of the ingame animations could use a little work but the redone intro looks amazing!
Really amazed with how this is shaping up so far

That's the point, essentially -- the trilogy is quite clearly an Acti property rather than a Sony one.

Oh, I don't disagree that Sony's involved to some degree. It's hard to find a clear answer in this case, but judging from the information available, my take is that Sony either still has or relicensed publishing rights to the original game through Crash Bash (this is the iffy part), but owns neither the games nor IP (easily confirmed via Copyright.gov and USPTO.gov), which is why they've never been ported anywhere, just re-released as disc images on PSN for the PS3 and P.

EDIT: Not sure if it's been posted, but probably the best comparison video so far.

I know I've said this before, but goddamn I really hate that stupid generic font they chose for the HUD.

One thing I've noticed when looking at footage of the public playing the game is that due to the fact that the fruit and lives take a while to actually register as being picked up a lot of players tend to get impatient and they just ignore them and move on. This is really bad and seriously needs fixing cause it ruins the flow of the game if you're having to linger in one spot to get the collectables.

Do you think they'll had in easier modes for the remakes?

Hopefully. I've got at least two people interested in playing it who will absolutely get frustrated by the difficulty.

That said, I want the original difficulty (save system notwithstanding) to be available as well. Crash was just right.

It seems like such a small thing to complain about, but I feel the same way. Of all the things that have changed, it's the the little things like the fonts and the markings on the crates that bother me the most.

In a lot of ways, these:

...are to me what a mushroom or a feather or a ? box are to the legions of Mario fans out there. The image of how they look and sound are burned into my brain, and it stings to see them changed for the worse.

That nitro box brings back memories

What if VV remade Spyro demos as an easter egg T.T?

I remember Crash Bandicoot: Warped having a "hidden" playable demo of the first Spyro with the code unlock in the game's manual. Would be awesome if you input that same code and got to play a Spyro 1 remake demo, too.

So have we figured out what the mask is saying when you pick it up?

I'm more curious what he says after you've been hit.

I remember Spyro Year of The Dragon having same kind of demo of Crash Bash. Damn I played that demo with my little brother as it had co-op....

Never got the love for Crash apart from CTR. This reminds me why I preferred my n64 to my psx. Ah well at least some people asked for it. Would be interesting to see what a brand new Crash game would be like.

Well, rumor has it that Skylanders is being cancelled & if you remember, that started out as a new Spyro franchise, so fingers crossed that the PS1 trilogy gets remade out of that.

The coin sound has never changed for Mario, right? There's a reason for that.

Yeah, very infamously the PAL version of Spyro 3 had all the levels of Crash Bash inside of it due to some sort of mistake with a programmer forgetting to take out the debug menu of Crash Bash for the demo. So basically if you had Spyro 3, you got 2 games in one!

They need to have some fun and add these as selectable costume pieces.

Seeing that fourth image makes me hope that they do some commercials in the same style as the original Crash. They don't need to take a shot at other consoles or anything, ubt bring smartass Crash back.

What on earth..

Aww are you offended that people that don't own your system get to play YOUR exclusives?

Activision is a bunch of betrayers that stain the honorable brand "Crash Bandicoot", I'm an expert on western culture, and this will surely lead to their demise.

Man I have watched the gameplay footage dozens of times. I couldn't be happier with this, it looks great. Sure some of the sounds/icons/whatever are off a little (picking up the bonus token sounds weird), but I think they did a great job staying faithful to the original and it looks like it controls well. Heavy Machinery looks so good.

I'd have preferred the pre-console mixes from Josh Mancell but the new versions of the songs sound good to me!

I'm hoping in addition to time trials for all 3 games, we get some new bonus levels for each, using the existing themes. Give VV a chance to make new Crash levels. Would also be awesome if we got versions of Stormy Ascent and other cut content.

I can't wait to do time trials on sunset vista :D

It looks like you're able to retry bonus levels in C1 this time around? Wonder if they will keep the pretty hard difficulty of the first game. Like, to get the box gem are you allowed to die now?

Also wonder how they'll handle the non-platforming levels. I honestly wouldn't mind if the jetski/plane/motorcycle levels from 3 weren't brought back.

Almost a million views on Activision page and half a million on PlayStation page after one day amazing the bandicoot still has all this clout after all these years

Anecdotal, but I'm seeing a lot of hype for this game outside of my core gaming circle. I think it will do better than people think.
