I'm thinking she might be a nimble stance change character with fire and ice specials. She has a red and blue patch on her sleeve and she serves Gill, so it'd make sense.

Ooh, that does sound cool. She's probably going to be a movement heavy character.

Nah, every time Capcom redesigns characters, people whine about wanting the original costume back (Akuma, Ibuki, Juri, etc.). So, I wouldn't be surprised if they just release her old costume as her default now. Maybe if she were in S1, but now, I doubt it.

Capcom clearly doesn't listen to fans when it comes to design choices and 9/10 times, that's the right thing to do.

Akuma's redesign has a somewhat similar problem to Ken's in that the idea is solid, and the artwork also paints a good picture of what the character should look like but the actual in-game model coupled with the clipping issue just makes the character look weird.

As for the others, they still managed to keep the returning characters looking mostly the same only with different default costumes (Ken, Guile, Juri) which still allows them to keep their classic costumes without affecting the character's "progression" in terms of look. So if Sakura shows up, she might very well be a grown up character or at the very least not have her school girl outfit as her default but knowing Capcom, the schoolgirl outfit will probably be a nostalgia costume.

Garuda has been on my list of wanted Characters since forever. I'd be fucking shocked and giddy if he was really coming.

It can't be Sodom because the new characters haven't been playable before.

I think the hugest guy may be Azam, Rashid's servant. Like Helen and Satsuki, he is already modeled and animated for the story mode, and he has a certain importance there.

I also don’t think they’d include yet another female Japanese ninja when we just got Ibuki. It’s probably an original character from an unrepresented country with an unrepresented fighting style.

She's probably my favourite. Definitely hoping she is the new character.

But Sodom is not a newcomer. They specifically stated that these 5 characters are new to the SF universe, meaning they haven't been playable before.

The "short" sleeves may be an effect created by the stuff she has in her left shoulder + yellow scarf + the black thing she has in her left arm. She matches perfectly.

Lmao, exactly. I'm trying to decide if I should pick up Akuma with FM or pick up the season pass and leave FM for stages and what not. Don't care about surprise reveals if I'm dishing out $30, fam!

It doesn't match up to me, honestly. The hilt of Satsuki's katana is pretty elaborate.

And I really do think the silhouette is wearing a short-sleeved shirt, whereas Satsuki's top is completely sleeveless.

Helen is an incredibly lazy choice, as expected from Capcom. Might as well just add Ed, grunt and cop.

I guess "brand new the SF universe " means playable?
Edit: I secretly hope Capcom was dumb enough to put season two character date in the Akuma update.

They've started using nonsensical identifiers for the characters in the data files (which has broken a lot of mods), so they are clearly learning. But it only takes one mistake, so who knows if they'll be able to pull it off.

If that's Helen I find it odd that they'd use the fake persona now that the secret's out. Plus, it's not like Kolin didn't have a 3D model.

Only reason I can think of is if they were going to add new chapters to flesh out the existing story mode, rather than make a new second arc entirely.

It's much more sensible to fight in boots and kneepads than heels. The classic Kolin look makes a lot more sense as a story alt, like Karin and Ibuki's dresses.

Yeah, but that's the only Poison we've ever known. Kolin has two completely different established looks, and I think the Helen outfit works better as a default, especially if her fighting style revolves around fire and ice.

Haven't been keeping up with news for this game, but weren't EX characters pretty much never gonna happen due to being owned by Arika? What changed?

Well looking into it further, they've featured a lot of the original EX cast on there, but with specific SF EX logos on the top right. Whereas for most other profiles, even for characters only specific to other street fighter games, they labeled those profiles as Street Fighter V.

Not gonna get my hopes up at all.

And yeah, since they said these are newcomers to the street fighter universe, I'd say that absolutely rules out ex characters (including garuda) for season 2 as they have been playable before.

The characters in Season 2, except Akuma, are brand new to the street fighter universe.

So either they're completely new or showed up for the first time in SF5 (like Helen).

Abel is a returning character, plus he was in the SF5 Story mode so we know what he looks like.

I don't know where you got that from. I read people requesting the old costumes, but no one whined. How can you even tell if someone is whining through text anyway or were you referring to face-to-face conversations?

They added all the EX characters profiles on the capcom network website but that's it.

Area needs to make a comeback. 🙄
