Yeah, they'll be stupid to abandon Nintendo, especially when most Japanese 3rd party games outside of AAA ones haven't exactly been making a big splash in sales on PS4.

Seeing how well P5 has sold I would guess they think that SMT could do just as well on PS4 rather than being on Switch

Absolutely can't wait to see what's next for the series!
A compilation of the old megaten games for current hardware would be awesome as well.

Isnt Persona much bigger than SMT itself now? I dont think being on the Switch would suddenly limit it. ( Besides we dont even know how well the Switch will even do to make that guess yet.)

I think it would have sold similar to what both PS3/PS4 version did. Probably a tad lower (50-100k less)

Okay I'm trying to rationalize both statements here. You think it would have sold similar to what both versions did. But you also think it will be lower by up to the total sales of the PS3 version, which makes up 20% of the total sales?

I mean clearly P5 did very well in general, but I'm not sure Atlus is going to look at potentially losing 100k in sales and just go "Nah we don't have to do anything about that." when there are more options in the marketplace.

I need SMT V for my future Switch or my current PS4. As long as it's not for Vita, I don't care about the console.

Could this be a remake of SMT and SMT II with current graphics and mechanics? If so, they have all my attention as well.

Doubt that, and that sounds awful. I would take a straight port of smt1-2. Or put the iOS version up on 3ds eshop at least.

I think it is confirmed that SMT5 won't come out this year (even in Japan) and thus Atlus will be holding 25th anniversary event instead.

SMTV for either Switch or PS4 is fine by me, though since I prefer my games portable I'm really hoping for a Switch version.

I'd love a remake/remaster/SOMETHING for SMT I and II, but only if they use Kaneko's art for everything.

Interesting:
Anniversary logo:

IV logo:

Strange Journey logo:

Not only is the anniversary logo styled after the classic one, but the characters have also been subtly updated to be a little sleeker.

(I really hope Atlus USA just takes this as an opportunity to make a new SMT logo. The old one was ugly in 2004, and it's even uglier now, which might be part of the reason why it's not even used in Apocalypse's logo.)

2 and 5 are front and center against a 5 pointed star. Clearly SMTV is coming and it's a reimagination of SMT2 like how SMT4 was a reimagination of SMT1!

Only played IV - the combat really impressed me. Will definitely keep an eye out to what ever will comes next. Switch game would be amazing.

Oooo it would be pretty sick if this was announced on Friday.

I still haven't even started SMT4:A though!(trying to get through 7th Dragon)

I hope Kaneko has been re-energized by the tragedy and unrest of 2016 and inspired to come back and make a masterpiece of SMT V.

Seems like PS4 and Swich is a safe assumption.

Good to think SMT might have two sources of sales now instead of just one.

I'll def pick it up for PS4 in that case. If its Switch exclusive, or an upport from 3DS which i doubt, i'll still be able to pick it up.

Strange to think mainline SMT has been away from PS for over 15 years

4A was great, so I hope they build on that. Maybe with a return to the more despair and isolation themes of older games though. (and bring back Kaneko for the art design)

Oh boy, here we go. I'm just thankful that with the existence of the Switch, the only disappointing scenario would be a mobile game... Even just a Nocturne remaster would make me happy!
Although a proper SMT1 remake would be welcome

Please release Kaneko from his dungeon and let him guide us to hell once again.

Wait did something happen to Kaneko last year or are you just talking about 2016 being a shit year in general?

Not sure why some people think Atlus have Kaneko locked up somewhere. He wrote the basic story for both IV and IV:A as it is. As for not being the one to handle designs, that seems more like a personal decision on his part related to long since having risen in rank in the company (of course, it could always be a combination of that and Atlus concluding that Doi's work, much like Soejima's, has more mainstream appeal).

The latter. Kaneko's been just fine.

It would most likely do good in Japan at the least, considering it's Nintendo & mobile land. The PlayStation brand has already been diminished there.

I was imagining a SMT game, located in the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland, instead of Tokyo. There are the CERN labs there, and they have a particle accelerator. They investigate the collision of particles and create microscopic black holes.

Remember that some years ago, before executing it, somebody spread the rumour that the execution could create a black hole, and so, swallow the earth? I was thinking that the black hole, could be a gate to the expanse, and the main protagonist could be a PhD student working there, and other co-workers/students could join the party, each with their own alignments.
