Ubisoft is bringing Steep, Rayman Legends, Just Dance 2017 to Nintendo Switch

The three confirmed games so far are Rayman Legends Definitive Edition, Just Dance 2017, and Steep. Just Dance will be released at the console’s launch, making it the first Ubisoft game on the console.

The track ‘How Deep is Your Love’ by Calvin Harris & Disciples will be available exclusively on the Switch via Just Dance Unlimited. This joins the 40 other tracks available in the game, all making their way to the Switch. Ubisoft is also giving Switch players three months of free access to Just Dance Unlimited.

Up to six players can play the game at the same time using the Joy-Con controllers.

Rayman Legends Definitive Edition includes existing features like Kung Foot as well as some new additions. Ubisoft did not detail the new features, or if any other enhancements will be made to that version. The publisher did say, however, it’ll make use of the console’s unique controllers.

As for Steep, the Switch version will offer the same connected world available now on other platforms. No Switch-specific features were shared, though.

Looks like they dialed down their investment for launch this time.

No Zombi U or anything in those veins.

It's a little disappointing that Ubisoft isn't there with something original at launch, it could have succeded, too with the meager lineup.

But Steep isnt something to just gloss over. And it still has the online connected world features.

Bringing a game like that to Switch is incredibly risky for Ubi.

Rayman is already in the bargain bins on PS4/Xbox One, never mind 360, PS3 and Wii U.

Steep is heading that way too, it performed pretty badly on the other consoles.

I can't see Ubi throwing much else Nintendo's way until Just Dance 2018.

You would be incorrect :p

Steep is a weird one- it's a current gen only game, unlike everything else that's been announced for the Switch. Did they manage to port a AAA game over or is this a redesign?

They're not really promoting it or anything, either. If it's so risky, then why announce, but not even do a trailer for it?

It is..it's a stupid game to port (unless Nintendo convinced Ubi the Switch was being released holiday 2016).

It's a port of a game already released that did poorly and chances are a good percentage of the people buying a Switch at launch already rejected the chance to buy it on another console.

You want to have a chance at selling then at least pick something that could be marketed alongside the launch of the other versions ..."South Park: The Fractured But Whole" being the obvious choice (given the timing of its release, it's simple graphics and far higher chance of appealing to the Nintendo fanbase).

For you.

It's even weird because it's a online only game, which means it won't be playable in most portable use cases.

steep is pretty fugly though and seems to be one that would scale down quite easily just by dropping draw distance.

No unprecedented partnership this time lol

Unless I missed something, it doesn't look like any third party is particularly backing the thing except for Square Enix. I could always be proved wrong, but you would think they would very proudly display it at the reveal event if a lot of third party publishers were strongly backing the console.

I think we should wait for E3 before making final conclusions on third-party support. Everything about Switch feels horribly rushed. I honestly think that Nintendo originally planned to release in 2018 with a better SoC but couldn't wait that long and had to accelerate everything.

Unfortunately, their hubris means that they'll make that mistake again next time unless they stick to 100% off-the-shelf components and no gimmicks (ha).

I though all the 3rd party games were hidden behind draconic NDA until the full reveal
lol

I don't think it was an NDA, but an agreement to hold off announcing anything until after the event. Still, games don't get announced for a lot of reasons. Maybe they decided to hold the announcement for the two games until a later date. I'm probably sure there are a few games like that. Best we can do is wait until they want to announce their games. At least now, they don't need to hold back and can announce what they want, when they want.
