Who told you Hololens is gaming focus device?
Crayon said "trotted out as some kind of answer to gaming focused vr units" is obviously a refrence to Xbox E3 showing it off with their games.

What the fuck is supposed to be the selling point of this thing if not support for proper VR? Being slightly stronger than a PS4 Pro without the library?
Who told you Hololens is gaming focus device?
How the fuck you supposed to sell more when the goods didn't exist? You can't say Sony is fucked up because they're physicaly impossible to sell PSVR at that time. I don't want butt in into VR discussion but this is a pretty thoughtless remark.

Miss me with this shit. They intentionally showed it as an answer to psvr, which they knew it was not.
They were showing it off for months before E3.
VR is dead! Wooooo!
Most likely it wasn't working and wasn't worth making it work. And VR hasn't taken off like expected.
What does this mean or have to do with what Crayon said?
Maybe they realized Oculus is becoming simply too poisonous, PR wise, with all their various scandals of late. Or Microsoft and Facebook's relationship has turned sour because of a new product that they will compete on that is yet to be mainstream or announced?
Correct me if I'm wrong about the Oculus/Scorpio connection, though.
Well, none of the MS partners' VR HMDs actually worked at CES.
it was never touted as the answer to PSVR.
And one showing of minecraft on it doesn't overshadow the months of the non gaming uses they showed for it making it into something it's not.
MS is showing a headset doing Xbox games at the Xbox E3 conference to help the Xbox brand and perception. You can figure out why and how that's misleading or touted as a Xbox peripheral to people watching that happens to counter a new Sony headset.
I can see this being a disappointment for some, to me it doesn't matter. After my experiences with PSVR (I know it isn't exactly high-end)I'm not really longing for VR. At least not until the tech matures much further from where it currently is.
We're going in circles. Them showing hololens before the Xbox E3 show and that people could research the details to learn the truth isn't at all the point we're talking about. They showed it with minecraft for 10 mins at the end of their conference with no release date or mention of it connecting to a xbox. If anybody googled hololens after that, they would see its not a Xbox accessory.
Also it's been talked about for months before E3 so it wasn't a "new" device or an unveiling.
They've never mentioned Oculus (or any specific headset) in relation to Scorpio. I know they provided Xbox controllers for Rift and you can play Xbox One games in theater mode, but other than that, I think the extent of the partnership has been assumed a little too hard by people. Microsoft has also talked about partnering with HTC for Windows Holographic. Microsoft sells, demos, and has multiple deals for Vive in their store. The only VR game that has been discussed for Scorpio has been Fallout VR. Fallout VR is a Bethesda game who are currently in a pretty big legal battle with Oculus. Every time Bethesda has shown one of their VR things (whether F4 VR or Doom VR) it has been with Vive hardware. So with all that in mind, I think it's just as likely Scorpio could use Vive. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it worked with multiple headsets.Maybe they realized Oculus is becoming simply too poisonous, PR wise, with all their various scandals of late. Or Microsoft and Facebook's relationship has turned sour because of a new product that they will compete on that is yet to be mainstream or announced?

PSVR wasnt a runaway success.
Does anyone in this topic know that PSVR is still hard to come by stock for?
GAF is like bizarro land when it comes to VR.
To be honest it wasn't said gaming focused device ... but maybe unveilling at E3 and showing mostly games leads people to think it's a gaming device.

So I hate playing the insider card but I feel like it's important here.
Microsoft is not getting rid of VR. In fact they made a move last week that surprised me because I thought they were dropping it.
Whether it's a move towards Windows VR or Scorpio, I'm not sure. But it's under the XBox banner so likely Scorpio.
I'm 50% confident it'll be at E3 and 100% confident VR is still moving forward.
Maybe there still is a future for VR, but coming from someone who has as a Pro and PSVR, Scorpio wouldn't really be missing out on much if it took a pass on this. Current VR is more of a hassle than anything at this point in my experience. I would wait until we have better resolution, better tracking, and wireless headsets before making a real commitment to the technology.

From the partner HMDs shown so far, they look more like "sleeker gen 0.5" than "gen 2.0" if you see the Vive as "gen 1.0".The way they have been going with the Xbox brand recently it is most likely both. If they support both console and PC and not via 3rd party they have an advantage. They would also potentially have the advantage of releasing the first gen 2 HMD looking at the way the tech is developing, al depends on what price point they'd want to hit though.

As a Vive owner I can say that there is no 'high fidelity VR' and there won't be any for the next two years at least. Makes sense.
