Switch Nindies Showcase 28 Feb 2017. 9 AM PT.

D-pad is there if you want it but seeming as you don't care about indies:

I'm sure it makes no difference to you either way.
You shouldn't have to buy a completely separate controller for a simple feature, dude. You don't need 2 ps4 controller to use the d-pad for those game

Because they're handicapped on the Switch. Whether it's due to it being a port of a game you've played years ago, graphical fidelity and performance not up to par with competitors, lack of achievements, no d-pad, etc.

I love indies, I just don't plan on buying any on the Switch.

I'd argue it's a great platform for Indies to showcase their games, especially given that it's seemingly quite easy to port to.

I bet you can count on one hand the number of indie games released in the past few years that wouldn't run well on the Switch. Lack of achievements and d-pad seem like bottom-of-the-barrel reasons as to why an Indie wouldn't want their game on Switch.

I'd personally prefer this:

It's basically like a little dinky SNES controller. Would be really handy for playing 2D games with friends.

Great for split joy-cons (local play) and having the dpad in a more comfortable position.

Not a big fan of the 3DS's dpad because of the position.

It's the sacrifice they had to make for the 2 player aspect of the Switch. Well worth it imo

Indeed, there's no way around it unless they release varients of joy-cons and even then you would have to buy new controllers like you already do with the pro controller. This is just the nature of the Switch.

I'll preface this with saying I'm buying the Switch on day one and WAS excited at the prospect of the system until we've started getting all of this bad news and now it's just meh until a solid amount of Nintendo titles are out.

The two player aspect of the Switch is a gimmick. It may work fine for a few titles but people who have played games with a single Joy-Con have said it's not very comfortable. It's also missing a d-pad and a second analogue stick so playing games like Street Fighter, NBA 2K, Splatoon, etc. are not practical. It's kinda cool but not at the price of removing the d-pad.

Only 2 days left. The Blaster Master Zero makes sense to be announced.

Maybe they'll surprise us with a Rocket League or bigger indie game.

^ rocket league would be almost impossible without analogue triggers, unfortunately.

The d-pad on the pro controller is the stiffest I've ever felt. Almost unusable. Hopefully that gets a lot better with use. The ergonomics of the pro controller are fantastic though, better than the X1.

Switching between the joycon's "d-pad" and the pro's back and forth when I was at the event on Friday, I surprised myself by finding the joycon's preferable, and not ALL that bad to be honest.

The buttons on the joycon are small, not too far away from eachother (good thing for a d-pad) and have a nice quick squishy feel to pressing them in. The only drawback is you can't really rock it back and forth by placing your thumb in the middle.

I play it just fine with my WiiU pro on PC.

Are you just going full speed the whole time? I guess you can try to move forward slower by braking, but I'm not sure if that brings you to a halt, I think it does. Maybe you tap the acceleration button?

Seems like a real bad way of playing but it would be nice to have it on a portable.

Maybe they can sacrifice the camera controls for analogue movement using the right stick.

The game works perfectly fine by just pulsing the gas.
Really, it has enough of an acceleration delay, that it's an absolute non issue.

this is good to hear. Rocket League seems like a perfect fit for the Switch.

At least to the level I play it, it works. I can pull some nice shots, juggling or mid air plays (limited, but that's more down to my lack of skill)

but as far as acceleration and speed control, it's totally functional with a digital trigger.

The Switch has an opportunity to be a great system for indie games in the same way the Vita was for a while. I'm not buying a system at launch, but a good showing on Tuesday could definitely get me to purchase sooner rather than later.

I also really hope we see more games along the lines of SnipperClips. Getting ports is great, and I would probably prefer to buy most of them on the Switch. However, seeing more indie games that Nintendo is taking an active role in publishing would be nice.

I'm just here watin on a Hollow Knight Switch release date.

The Switch, with its screen size, resolution and portability, will become my go-to place for indies from now on. I'm even considering rebuying stuff I already own on PS4 and Steam. Can't wait for this machine.

I'd buy Enter the Gungeon on Switch. Big Nuclear Throne fan, but the vita's analogues aren't great and it gets quite hectic. Joycons have quite nice analogues.

Indies, especially co-op indies, would be phenomenal on the system. I would prefer them on the Switch for the convenience of playing them anywhere and not restricted on just my TV/Monitor. The only downfall is paying more compared to Steam because Nintendo don't believe in a decent discount system. Unless they have some upcoming plans on changing their pricing and have some decent sales ala Steam and the Playstation store.

According to reddit rumblings, there may well be something announced during this or at GDC that the press know about/have already played

based on this tweet

and the newest Gamexplain podcast where "Derrick mentioned cryptically that Ash got to play a game that we will be able to see on 2/28"

Take with a pinch of salt, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah it's definitely an indie title.

Vern kind of implied Nintendo had secured Owlboy for Switch and well there's not much reason to doubt him nowadays...

There are some really compelling indie games coming to Switch, so I'm down with this showcase.

I'm absolutely buying Fast RMX, and probably Battle Princess Madelyn (thread about it - beautiful Ghoulsn'Ghosts type game).
