Fools are always so certain of themselves, but wiser men so full of doubts.
Do we have confirmation yet that this is coming Westward?

I'm ready for this game to dominate my life.

We don't but it's basically a given since we've been getting all the spinoff titles like Builders and Heroes. The PS4 version at least.

And.... the Switch version is.....?

PS4 and 3DS version both look good but dang! I want that Switch version! Show it already!!!

Auto cam seems like your typical turn based more with cinematic cuts for moves while you still retain movement when youre not issuing commands... Interesting.
In any case., free movement for me.
Huge fan of ff12 and not so much of the previous dq games

I expect more detailed info will be in this week's Famitsu. Still want clarification on some points for the PS4 version's modes.

So basically the Switch version will play just like the PS4 version, except the textures, draw distance, and image quality will be worse.

Now use your imagination...And that's the Switch version!

Yeah this was basically the same exact wording as last time - it sounds like the free movement is just for shits and giggles which sounds awfully strange. I'm totally cool with that but it's hard to imagine they wouldn't use that mode to insert DQX gameplay.

If and when the Switch version gets annoucned, I'll triple dip buying this game. I hope the CE on rhe SE store for this game is not too expensive when it gets announced. Its the only CE franchise, I'll willing to pay the SE tax on

I think these screens finally pinpointed my biggest issue with the art direction of the PS4 version: the environments seems to be struggling with whether or not that they want to be realistic or more in line of what you would expect to fit with Toriyama's art. It tries for both, and as a result, it never seems detailed enough to be picturesque and it's not clean enough to make the characters feel like they fit, which isn't helped by the lighting that they're doing. Blue Dragon had that problem at times, too, though that did have largely stylized environments that made it more consistent.

If I'm remembering right though, Famitsu's info is usually just rehashed from the earlier website update, no?

Damn, Android 17's game is looking good.

Still want a video detailing PS4's combat or something, I'm still unclear on whether this is a true turn-based or a hybrid sort of thing.

You may be right. I haven't paid close attention to the way the two match up recently. In the past, Famitsu always had a bit of extra info to make up for coming out later.

I think that's exactly why the game looks so good. I prefer an art style that goes for a cool mix of visual designs instead of going all cartoon or all realistic. This is a very happy medium, I also really liked Blue Dragon's style as well.

Yeah, I just double checked and it's all the same. Famitsu magazine, Famitsu.com, 4Gamer, and all the other websites go up the same info posted on the website earlier in the week at the same time (Weds. at midnight). So our next battle system info will likely come from Jump, or maybe at that release date event. :3

I like the structure of the fields. Based on the mini map they seem to be going for a nice amount of expansiveness but aren't trying to actually make this an open world game or anything.

The battle modes in both versions of the game just seem like they're supposed to be a cosmetic feature so people can pick their preferred flavor of DQ combat presentation. But maybe there really is more to it that hasn't been shown yet.

it sounds like the free movement is just for shits and giggles which sounds awfully strange.

Maybe when Nomura said that they can't do turn-based anymore because it looks awkward for people to stand around and wait for their turn, Horii was like "okay let's just make them move around aimlessly while they wait for their turn"

Its hard to pin down what theyre saying but that does sound like it.

Also hot damn those graphics, that forest scene is so good

They are giving so many options with this game; 16-bit version, 3DS-3D version, console version with two different battle modes tailored to classic and more real-time combat. Amazing

Does the free movement during battles actually do anything? Do you do more damage if you attack from behind an enemy or from the sides. Or can you just move around for shits and giggles.

I want more info :(

This looks amazing. It looks like they are literally trying to appease everyone and they may actually be able to pull it off.

3DS version looking nice. It's cool that you can switch between 2D and 3D models for battle. Will pick this up.

Looks like it's coming later.

And it will be more like the PS4 version.

Nice! Was thinking a Switch version of the PS4 game would be great.

I hope it is just to move around for laughs.

My ps4 system-seller for me right there. Haven't bought a ps4 yet (the only games I want to play so far on that system is bloodborne and DQ:B) but will do if they don't announce a PC version by NA launch.
