What cancelled/unreleased game intrigues you the most?

Final Fantasy Versus XIII- XV is good, but when it was VsXIII it looked a lot better

Silent Hills- Scary game from the minds of Kojima, Junji Ito, Guillermo del Toro starring Norman Reedus. I would have threw money at the screen as soon as a preorder page for it came up.

Rumor is the game was near completion but the voice chat wasn't very functional. MS required voice chat to work on all Live games. I really wish this game came out because we'd still have private servers for it

Its really tough to say. Obviously a lot of work had been done, but considering they cancelled the beta testing that would have confirmed if things were really working as intended, close to completion could have still been a while off

Whore of the Orient
Starfox 2 (even though it's playable via emulation, i'm still intruiged at the politics around it never making it to release)
Half Life 2: Episode 3

StarFox 2 is another great one. Isn't the game almost entirely finished? I'd love if Nintendo released that on the Virtual Console like they did with Earthbound Beginnings, though I don't know if that would be possible.

Mega Man Legends 3... There was obviously a LOT of internal politics that went into getting this game greenlit and canceled... plus I still want the game.

I'm still hoping that one day with the system being totally blown open, that a leak of the prototype that was supposed to be one of the first e-shop titles makes its way online at some point.

Fantastic OP.

I remember video footage of some game set in ancient egypt for the ps3, where the player was fighting with a staff. The movement kind of looked witcher 3-ish with the wepon swinging. Cannot, for the life of me, remember the title.

The most heartbreaking thing is, it appears whatever licencing deal Yu Suzuki made for Shenmue III would have allowed him access to the Saturn Shenmue code, but nobody knows where it actually is.

Kojima working to bring my favorite horror franchise in gaming back from the sorry state it was in? I was probably more excited for this game than I had been for many in a very long time.

Star Wars 1313 was also another game I wanted desperately, and when it came out after cancellation that it was about Boba Fett? I remember audibly exclaiming "NO!" in the middle of a pitch meeting after reading that headline while I was still working at the paper.

Also, I don't know if it really counts--but Conker's Other Bad Day exists as a design document somewhere and I remember Chris Seavor talking about how he doesn't understand why they didn't just make the sequel with the budget they got for remastering the original for XBOX. If that counts, that too.

Easily Virtua Fighter 3 on Saturn. I have strong memories with the Saturn and the hurdles presented by the challenge of approximating VF3 on Saturn's hardware are so massive and AM2 was so clever. I would love to see what they attempted.

Killer Instinct 2 on SNES.

Kinda hoped to see some footage after that Dreams project hype thread of a ex-Rare employee, It was even hinted at... But it never happened. :(

Picassio - Any day now some one is gonna launch a Kickstarter for a similar art theft game, I just know it.

Project LMNO - Spielberg does a story heavy video game inspired at least a little by ICO.

I'd love for some old builds of Duke Nukem Forever to leak.

I'm still waiting to find out how Halo 2 was supposed to end. Jason Jones seemed open to discussing it in an IGN interview a couple years ago. And Marty O'Donnell has claimed that all the dialogue for it was recorded. Come on, some one spill the beans already!

How do you know the details of SEGA and Yu's licensing deal? Also, how do you know the details of Saturn Shenmue's location or lack thereof?

Has anyone said Cry On by mistwalker because that would be what I would say. I "cried on" when they said it was cancelled

I had totally forgotten about this until now, but Crank the Weasel. It was to be a PS2 action game but in the style of a 20's cartoon (think a 3D version of Cuphead).

You should expect to see something more on that in the future

Oh Picassio. But Sly and Nate made it unecessary, at least for me

Hang on, wait.... wasn't it cancelled in '02? Are you implying it may get finished after all now!?

Games get cancelled, games get found by people like me. It wont be finished, but we'll see more of the game and hopefully have a chance to play it.

Official Playstation Magazine Trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPwr_cq7Dn0

They had a playable demo in the Official Playstation Magazine along with a sweet trailer. I spent months playing the demo over and over again waiting for it's release...until my disc got scratched. Then I found the disc way later after I had grown up and looked for the game to purchase online, just to find out it was released in Japan and the English release was abandoned. :(

This one always stung. I was thinking about this demo today and was curious if this version ever "leaked" after it was cancelled. My understanding is that it was basically done and they were ready to press disks. I've since picked up the JP release of this and part 1 but was always curious how the localization turned out.

Pandemic's unreleased Pirates of the Caribbean RPG. Everyone who saw it at that E3 spoke so highly of it and it sounded fantastic.

Advent Rising broke my heart, it may have been somewhat flawed, but I think in the right hands it could have easily became what we know today as Mass Effect... It had it all, grand space setting, epic score and some real fun fights.

If I'm honest: the ORIGINAL Rayman Origins. Y'know, when it was actually about Rayman's origins? I have a massive soft spot for Rayman, even dressed as Mr. Dark from the first game for Halloween as a kid. I was super excited that they were gonna bring him back. But... we instead got a story so gutted that the final boss makes absolutely no sense. Sigh.
