Any news on the rumored MK8 Switch bundle for $300???

It was the format, not the games, that I found dissapointing. I mean, the pacing was great, but they voiced everything. It's okay to explain things, but sometimes the trailer alone could've done a better job at hyping certain games.

Another thing I noticed is that we didn't see the traditional presenters from NOA (as far as I recall). I'm wondering if they are trying to have a "global" approach to Directs from now on or it's just that they weren't needed this time.

How can they announce a Direct and say "we are talking about Splatoon 2 and ARMS," then talk about said games, and then anyone seriously say "well, disappointed."

I'm starting to think those of you saying it are in the same "pre-order cancelled" crowd that was running around this place back in February.

Probably the worst Direct I've seen in a long time. Wasn't interested in any of the offerings aside from Mario Kart, Splatoon 2, Arms and Sonic Forces. I just found a lot of the games uninteresting and the Splatoon video to be a horrible advert for the game's new mode.

That said, I LOVE the visual redesign for Directs. Koizumi headlining is also good since I liked him in the Switch reveal event.

Also, people are allowed to be disappointed regardless of what Nintendo said was gonna be featured. The games they showed alongside it were middling for the most part. No need to mobilize the defense force.

Pretty good Direct. They delivered on what was promised and I think ARMS looks a lot of fun. It's releasing closer to Splatoon 2 than I would have thought though.

Very excited for Monster Hunter Stories omg! But where's Etrian Odyssey V, FFS Atlus :/

Lots of port begging in this thread. Along with even more 3DS shitposting.

Didn't expect anything less. 3DS shitposting has become the norm in these sort of threads.

the 'ever oasis' facebook page has been updated to reflect the release date as it was shown in the direct. mark your calendars, it no longer releases may 26th, but june 23rd.

ever_oasis_release_date_updated_on_facebook.png

Honestly, it doesn't sound that impressive, even if it's from one of the minds behind the first FF games and the Mana series. I'll wait for impressions and reviews before I get on the train.

I love that people are disappointed in a lack of big game announcements for something we knew ahead of time would focus on 3DS, Splatoon 2 and ARMS.

Amazing.

Anyway, that was a nice little Direct. ARMS looks fantastic, Splatoon 2 continues to look great and a number of cool-looking 3DS games are coming.

A game I played 3 years ago wow that'll sure hold me over! That being the only thing they have until mid June is fucking awful.

You knew this when you bought your Switch.

Did you think they were going to magically announce a new AAA game to release in May-July that wasn't Splatoon 2, ARMS or Mario Kart 8 (in a Direct that was specifically stated to be about those games)?

You made the decision to buy a Switch knowing you would not be getting a big game release every single month. That was a choice you made.

Let me explain from my standpoint why I think at this point many people could be disappointed by Nintendo's E3 if they are expecting an large amount of announcements.
(non indie).

The average Nintendo E3 conference from 2004 to present is around 50 to 55 minutes on average. Let's say Nintendo gives 5 minutes for an opening monologue and presentation conclusion . Let's say we give each game 4 minutes as well. Obviously some games like Mario will have far more than four minutes and some could have less. We will average four minutes for each game in this discussion.

Let's look at the known.

Opening Monologue ( 5 minutes)
Mario (4 minutes)
Splatoon 2 (4 minutes)
Fire Emblem Warriors (4 minutes)
Zelda DLC (4 minutes)

Fifa (4 minutes) -- yes they have a lot to discuss. Is this an Xbone port or 360 port, how do the joy cons work with the game, online, etc.
NBA 2k (4 minutes) -- same as above. I don't expect both games to actually be 4 minutes each. But, I expect Mario and Retro's game to be around 15 minutes. So it averages out.
Skyrim ( 4 minutes) Is it a port of the PC version, 360 or Xbone version?

Retro game reveal (4 minutes)

Recap and Closing (5 minutes)
================================

Without any surprises other than Retro we are already at 42 minutes. Out of a possible 60. Not to mention Sonic, Xeno 2, Indie sizzle real, and Nintendo will have to discuss the online app at some point. Voice chat possible with Splatoon, MK8, Arms, etc?

Will 3ds be mentioned? What about Media Apps, OS improvements, and third party announcements, or first party announcements? This means more time used up.

My point is games like SFIIU, Disgea, and others are better off being announced in a Direct separate from E3. Where are these game announcements?

Save E3 for Mario, Metroid, Madden, COD, Red Dead, Destiny, etc. Putting COD, Madden, and the like in a third party sizzle reel isn't doing your third party relations with big publishers any favors.

Nintendo should be putting out Directs every 6 weeks or so, and showcasing 1 or two new games and give updates on already announced titles. Keep Nintendo in the forefront of the publics mind. Keep Switch in the news constantly.

Nintendo burned people with Wii U. You can be upset at that comment, but they did. No question. Nintendo should be money hatting some third party titles big and small to make sure the Switch is a well rounded experience for all users, even with "teen and mature" audiences that they do not cater to with their own games.

Using these Directs to highlight these type of games and moments is a smart play. I'm taking the long view on the Switch and think it will be a success. But i can already tell, Nintendo hasn't completely changed and they are still appearing to repeat some mistakes they have been doing for over the last decade. That is scary. Hopefully E3 will surprise, but their free time there is in short supply, and utilizing these Directs to announce some larger non AAA titles would be wise.

As someone who hasn't really been a Nintendo "fan" since the NES/SNES era, but has owned every single Nintendo system they have ever produced.

I think this Direct was pretty good. It seems like the Switch is getting more support from 3rd parties than the Wii U... The Wii U launched with 3rd parties then everyone left the system as the months went on.

It feels like the opposite is happening. Hardly any 3rd parties at launch, but they are slowly jumping on board.

Stuff like Battle Chasers, Fate/EXTELLA and Payday 2 would of never been on the Wii U.

It's promising to see, and heck, with the Switch being mobile I might be more inclined to buy a game like Battle Chasers for the Switch instead of my XB1 or PS4.

So it was a Nintendo Direct? The Hype Machine deflates again, stop getting your hopes up people. Unless this fails like the Wii U, I doubt we will have anything like that desperate mode direct they had where they laid out pretty much every game that would come out on Wii U. Wait for E3.

It's not a defense force, it's just being logical. I mean yeah, if I'm looking for sushi and walk into McDonald's I'm gonna leave hungry.

They told you what they were delivering, lol.

Now I really hope this system fails like the Wii U for us to get that sweet, sweet 20 excellent games library.

I don't understand how you could possibly be disappointed unless it's about ARMS's release date (and I could understand that as it release pretty late in Spring).

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

Amazing.

Pretty much. They promised little and actually delivered much more than I was expecting. Good Direct.

Anyone expecting big announcements from this was expecting too much. E3 is just around the corner.

Oh my god that was underwhelming. Watching a full battle of Arms makes it look hideously boring, yeesh, and between it and Splat2n they sure made an art over taking as long as possible to tell us as little as they could.

Literally the most exciting part of the Direct to me was the Pikmin amiibo, which is. Not a good look.

GAF over reacts like usual. Expectations are higher than heaven and disappointments lower than hell. Loved Nintendo directs, simple and direct, no pun intended.

Glad there's a lot of different stuff coming for the switch. Nothing for me yet thought to pull the trigger. If not wor Zelda being on Wii U I would already have one though.

Why is anyone disappointed? The direct even says it will have an Arms/Splatoon focus... E3 is so close... It's good they got all of these stuff out the way here
