Anyone hyped for PuyoPuyo Tetris? The advanced tutorial videos Sega put out for the Puyo mechanics has sold me. It looks like it's gonna be insane and addictive. Physical is $30 with the Prime discount if you preorder on Amazon so I but the bullet.

The demo is the most-played Switch game in the 4 days we've had it.

My wife and I used to play the 16-bit version (first on Genesis, then on SNES) a ton.

Yep, looking forward to it.

got a link? Puyo Puyo always confused me with anything more than 'oh if I do this line, the blue one might drop on the other blue one and make two in a row!'. My other strategy was just blindly hope I'd create a waterfall if the screen got really full :p

Day one on this.

I would also love to see Nintendo revive the Panel de Pon / Puzzle League franchise on this console as well.

I am definitely hyped! Playing Tetris once again will put a smile on my face.

I was never a fan of Puyo but that's because I never sat down and attempted to learn it.

If you have the links for those tutorials, please post them up!

I have both Puyo Puyo and Mario Kart preordered. I'm not done with Zelda yet but it'll be nice to finally have some multiplayer games to play with my sister and nieces.

Oddly, Klax prepared me for Puyo Puyo.

I'm hardly an expert, despite playing a fair amount of it, but the basic strategy is to build 2- or 3- piece clumps, then a different color above it, then more of the first color. And speed is probably more important than exactitude.

Picking one up sometime this week, any essential accessories I should get?

I'll back up the idea of getting a screen protector, especially that glass one. Klutz that I am in the morning, on my walk to work I fumbled my Switch and dropped it on the concrete sidewalk. Because the joy-cons (both have scrapes, and the right one no longer registers the R button) are swappable and the screen protector (light scuff marks) is there, the main unit is fine, and I can pretty much fix it up like new. It's almost like a secret bonus feature for idiots like me that parts of the console can be independently replaced.

I'm particularly happy that the two games I'm currently actively playing -- Mr. Shifty and Shovel Knight -- do not make use of the currently broken button. By the way, I recommend them both. Shifty has some BotW-like performance issues (where the game pauses for half a second or more in tight spots) but is otherwise a fantastic brawler, and I would really like a followup that expands on its game mechanics further.

The game looks great but imho it doesnt play great, its a mobile game and it feels like a mobile game, the gameplay is waay too simple for my taste bought it on the XBO and was very dissapointed

That's understandable. I've had it on iOS and console, and I'll but it on Switch lol.

Just want to say that I love the shit out of my Switch.

Also, can I reorder the games on my screen?

Take this with the appropriate pinch of salt, but the WiFi seems to actually be working better for me since the latest update. Fingers crossed it remains that way as I was actually considering buying a new router.

It's a new router. Like 3 months old. No other device has issues.

Is it docked? Can you move the Switch? Maybe it's in a spot where it picks up interference?
Has the router been rebooted recently? Maybe give it a shove and see if it improves.

Just got home from work, turned on my Switch, and I see Zelda is downloading! A surprise from my wife! Guess I'll be making time to play it!

WooHoo! Nice. Just jump in and go. Explore and experiment, always be messing about with stuff :) If you're wondering if something will work, give it a go.

I think it goes by most recently played? I'm sure they'll add folder support and organizing in a future FW update
FWIW, I really like sorting by MRU. It's how I'm going to play, typically.

I've played the hell out of Zelda at this point. I really need a new game.

But what?
I really like Graceful Explosion Machine. Read up on it before you buy though, might not be your thing.

PPT is also almost out and its demo has a lot of replay value, and Wonder Boy dropped today which looks potentially good.

So when I turn my Switch on from sleep mode, and it's at the Home screen, it goes back into sleep mode after about 60 seconds of inactivity (or at least it feels that way, haven't timed it).

Is there a way to turn this off? It doesn't do it while in a game. I checked my sleep settings and they are set to 30/60 minutes.

But what?

So far I've played:

- Snake Pass
- Master Blaster Zero
- Snipperclips
- Graceful Explosion Machine
- Shovel Knight (as well as Specter of Torment)

Honestly, I'd recommend every single one of those games if you're open to trying new things.

So, I'm confused here, I thought that Nintendo was forcing pricing parity between digital and physical. But is that not the case?

Nintendo shows that Puyo Puyo Tetris will be $29.99 digitally.

But everywhere selling it physically is selling it for $39.99.

So am I just completely wrong about the price parity thing? (I had read people saying that the digital had to be more expensive because of price parity with physical and cart costs / etc.)

they are including a keychain with the physical release. if something is included they can set a different price

Puyo Pop Tetris is coming with keychains that makes up the other 10 dollars. Seems a lot of publishers are doing physical goodies for some physical copies.

Yeah, I'm thinking either Wonderboy, Shovel Knight, or Isaac+...

Hmmm

They're so cheap and tacky looking, lol. Maybe a high-quality metal lapel pin or something might be justifiable but the physical bonus must've cost a few pennies to manufacture.

Did update 2.2 fix the inputs from changing all the fucking time on Samsung televisions? Please tell me it did...

I would love to know the answer to this. I've had to change my input setup on my TV for now to something that isn't exactly ideal. As soon as Nintendo fixes the issue I can change it back.

The industry and community really need to start standing up and taking notice of the Switch. It's not gonna do Wii numbers (and no console ever will again) but it's off to a great start and is gonna make a big splash by the twilight of its life

I wouldn't hold your breath. Even when Nintendo was outselling the competition combined third parties only threw scraps towards the Wii's general direction.

But what?

If multiplayer is an option, then Snipperclips is an absolute must own. Outside of Zelda I'd say it's the real Switch killer app, as it's original, creative, and great to play at home or on the go.

Binding of Isaac is absolutely incredible and extremely addictive. But it's really tough, hope you like a challenge!

If you haven't played Shovel Knight that's another great choice.

Hmmm

Out of those three, I would personally recommend Shovel Knight. Wonderboy is great so far (I just started playing) but short and actually retro in terms of design. Issac+ would last you the longest in terms of replay ability, but that's completely dependent on how much you enjoy roguelikes IMO. Personally, I don't find them too engaging.

Is shovel knight worth the purchase if I already played the original on another platform? I beat the base game, but not the DLCs.

I never said anything about the quality, just explained the situation. Better than nothing, I guess? :p

Plague Knight is fun but quirky and Specter Knight is way more combat oriented. Specter Knight had the best story out of all the campaigns so far. Definitely recommend Treasure Trove!

I think I've spent over an hour on the demo today lol.

Definitely looking forward to it.

Spector of Torment is amazing. I found it better than the original Shovel Knight. Plague of Shadows was just a rehash of the original and I didn't enjoy it much. There's another expansion coming which is included in Treasure Trove. Dunno how worthwhile that'll be.

So I reckon you should at least buy the Spector of Torment standalone. But if you've got the money, cough up for Treasure Trove and have it all.

I played the demo yesterday with my friend and we had an absolute blast! I've never touched PuyoPuyo before but after playing with it for a bit I like it a lot more than Tetris. The game went from a skip to a day one purchase for me. I'm going to grab it for the Switch over PS4 since I have 4 controllers for it. Can't wait for the full thing next week
