It's still pointless. Nintendo's biggest franchise on Nintendo's fastest selling console will sell well on its own. It gives more people a reason to buy a Switch instead of sticking with the 3DS and it's probably easier to develop one version of the game instead of two on completely different platforms that you're not seeing a lot of ports between anyway.

I first heard about this via the folks on NVC and I definitely agree with their take. Nintendo is either being overly optimistic with their 3DS estimates, or they have something "big" for it that they haven't shown yet. Pokemon seems like the only title that would really help in that regard.
They certainly won't sell 6 million on the back of games like FE: Echoes, Hey! Pikmin, and Ever Oasis...

You forgot New 2DSXL and the new Kirby game coming to Switch. Maybe there will be a 2D Metroid on 3DS too. And to be completely honest when Pokemon Stars is announced and if it also comes to 3DS it will only be New 3DS. The original 3DS was slugging along with Pokemon Sun and Moon as it is. If they want to do cross platform then it should be Switch and New 3DS/New 2DSXL to push the "New" system sales.

Nintendo can't force Game Freak to make x game for y console, otherwise we would have got home console mainline Pokémon in previous gens.

That's because Pokemon was always their killer app for their handhelds which always outsold the consoles. Now Nintendo merged them together so releasing a Pokemon game for the Switch makes more sense.
There absolutely are Stars, regardless of whether this thread accurately predicted the reveal or not. Why do people insist on continuing this contrarian stuff?

I definitely agree that Stars would most likely be a "new" 3DS exclusive, at least if they're smart. Given what we think we know about Stars, I'm not confident that the regular 3DS models can handle it. I don't think that just adding the "new" 2DS SKU will give them a major bump in hardware sales.
I'm also hesitant to believe that adding a new Kirby and/or Metroid game to 3DS would sell 6 million units this year.

Sure, but if someone at Eurogamer is pimping the leak this hard, I feel like you have to be really fishing for "I'm the contrarian level-headed smart guy" points to pretend like this game isn't happening at this point.

They must be pretty damn confident in Stars being a Switch-only game to double-down again on it.
A Pokémon reveal at E3 is pretty unprecedented in of itself.

Stars might just be Switch and we all know some are gonna get mad. Or it could be new 3DS/2DS only and everybody gets mad.

To be fair, 3DS could play those games without a problem thanks to backwards compatibility. Switch doesn't have that luxury which makes a port more likely IMO.
Yeah i believe the leak but you can never be to sure. Take all LKD's bs for example.
But they won't sold more Switch since there's no stock anyway.
They better release an exclusive new gen/episode when the stocks are more flexible.
I'd say New 23ds and Switch, but maybe not playable on old 3ds. Just for fun.
When I read a comment like yours earlier I was wondering how that tweet is related to Pokémon Stars at all. He simply gave that tweet 2 out of 5 stars cause it comes off as a troll/joke. I didn't even make the connection that those are literally stars emoji. Yeah, not my brightest moment.

But please no Gen 1 more..PLEASE! I have enough of these constant gen1 pandering. I mean we got in kinda every gen kanto. FRLG and Gen 2 remakes and in last gen the whole 450 Pokemon Dex with so many gen 1 mons + choose gen 1 starters again + the whole forest. In Sun Moon we still got only gen 1 alola mons + too many gen 1 mons in the dex.
Yes I love Gen 1, Yes I love bulbasaur (not his 3d model, especially not venusaur), Yes I would love to replay FRLG with the gen 6 changes, but please not now. Now I just want Stars with HD assets and no fps drops. Nothing else (and maybe some little more postgame or more exploration)
