The photo that told me Nintendo hit a home run with Switch

Paris Hilton was simply at the Gamecube launch event and thus posed with a Gamecube. There is no hint she actually got the console.

There is also no hint the Barcelona players got it as free swag.
They all have the same neon color version. That very much suggests that Nintendo may have sent a bunch to the team all at the same time.

Either way, who cares really?

Ah, well I'm sure she was definitely part of the paid promotion of the Nintendo DS shortly after, even getting a signature Paris Hilton DS.

There's also quite a few hints, though no proof.

I trust you blindly on this.

What the fuck, why's that everyone wears exactly same non-uniform clothes? I smell something off.

You never been in a sportsteam, haven't you?

We are not talking anymore about her getting a free Gamecube? Thats a shame.

I just don't get why the Switch gets a free pass for having limited software whereas other systems got crucified for their lack of software early in their life.

It doesn't. There has been endless complaining about the lack of SW for the switch since before it even launched.

The next generation of gamers have already grown up on Halo and the generation of gamers following that are growing up on mobile and iPad games.

Nintendo's audience is a lot more targeted and niche these days because they have no idea how to revamp their business models to exloit their IPs in today's market.

Nintendo's biggest mainstream hit of the last decade following the Wii is Pokemon Go and that did not even come out of Nintendo itself and Nintendo has barely done anything to help it grow or to make money from it.

... So people here up on halo but not any wii games even though the Wii which outsold the Xbox 360? And that's because the Wii u was a failure it retroactively changed what a generation grew up on?

Clearly a let's take this photo for the free gifts we just received. Nintendo didn't even pay enough for Messi.. a true sign they will cheap out on getting those big name games as well and stay losing in the end as always.

Probably because the software that is out there on the Switch is much better than the software that was out there for the other consoles, value wise?

BOTW alone is enough to justify it's purchase for most people.
MK is a remaster, true, but the game was released on an unsuccessful console and most people didn't have the chance of playing it. Doesn't hurt that it's the best MK ever made and it supports multiple configurations and 8 players without hassle.

For the rest of the year you have a sequel to Splatoon, a proper Xenoblade sequel and an adventure Mario game.

There's also new stuff like Arms and 1-2 Switch, and that's just first party, and we haven't had our first E3 yet.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch

Switch gets a free pass? Wow.

Pretty cool. Pretty much the only reason I got a switch
Not sure what halo sales have to do with anything but aren't those numbers physical sales only?

Even if sales numbers are there i do not think they are enough to consider a game or a gaming system as a success. Surely, for a company it is is a financial success. I consider as a failure the end of backward compatibility(i do not think about just Nintendo) and the paid online system which i will never be able to accept or tolerate.

I have been playing on PC for years and while i do own consoles i can still feel how companies try to Get a lot of control on the consoles they make.
In fact i do not consider PS4, Xbox One, or Switch as a success, but to be honest i must confess i am very demanding.

One issue i have with Nintendo systems is how eshop does not offer atractive prices, to the point 2nd hand market often has much better deals than discounted eshop games.

Fireflame, you are confusing the word success with the word "I like this console".

That is not how success works

I just don't get why the Switch gets a free pass for having limited software whereas other systems got crucified for their lack of software early in their life.

We have like two threads about this, one that has 2100+ posts!

I would not call that a free pass in any way

It's a common thing. Or do you think the Barcelona team wears all the same shit because they love that uniform style?

If the Switch is a "home run" or not should the sales decide.

I mean my comment was clearly a joke.

I don't know if this is a marketing photo or not (I kinda doubt it is since nothing related to Nintendo is actually tagged in the tweet) but wearing the same clothes is something teams do ALLLLL the time when traveling. That's incredibly common in team sports all over the world. That says absolutely nothing about whether or not this is marketing (not that that matters whatsoever anyway).

No one is giving it a pass, if anything people are saying that its lucky that its launched with a great hardware and Zelda

Nintendo won't stop.

That's totally staged. It's marketing 101, don't see anything wrong with that.
Marketing 101 would include Nintendo being mentioned and retweeting it. This was a personal tweet on a players personal Twitter. Nintendo obviously still bad at marketing it seems.

Not sure if the tweet was marketed by Nintendo, but I have seen roadside billboards, tv ads, ads at the movie theater, all for Nintendo Switch.

This is much more than I have ever seen them do in terms of marketing since the Wii, maybe even the Nintendo 64.

Well, yes, of course they're marketing, I'm being cheeky and saying either Nintendo forgot how to market while dealing with one of the biggest brands in the world, or this was a freebie post on Twitter.

Aren't there actual FCC rules to disclose if a posting is sponsored or not? With the hashtag #ad or something like that?

Depends. If it is buried amongst many other tags, quite easily possible on Tumblr and Instagram, than it isn't enough. One tag in a 140 signs tweet should be enough.
