I ended up impulse buying it after your last post about it.

Hey, that's pretty sweet.

Yeah, feels like Unexplored is amazing for short-burst game sessions.

Then again I did spend like 3 hours creeping through a single dungeon last night while watching the NHL Finals (Go OTT!).

Finally finished DOOM. Heck of a game. Before it came out my hopes for it were so low that I thought of making a preview of it for the OP that was just a link to E1M1 with the text 'At least we'll have these memories'

Glad I was wrong, the movement and gunplay is a constant delight, the story and lore is treat with exactly the right amount of reverence it deserves, and the music is stellar.

As someone pointed out last thread, Rising Storm 2 is in beta.

I jumped on it with card money, played today for the first time.

Its really good you guys. One of the best looking Unreal 3 games to boot.

Great rich, vibrant colors on the environments. Lush jungles and calm rice paddies, all the while charlie takes pot shots at you.

Has some of that great attention to detail like you can toggle some guns with retractable stocks on and off, which changes how the guns feel.

Little things like that.

Side note: For some stupid reason the default frame rate is capped at 62 fps, which causes horrible screen tearing for me.

Just go into the games .ini file and fix it to 60 or less before you start. (or more if your monitor needs it.)

Wasn't it relaxing though.

Well....ya I guess but.....thats the only good thing about it lol

Couldn't you have got the DLC for the second game from the EA DLC page?

Wait a min....are you saying I could have downloaded the DLC for free!?!?!?

Wait, something happens?

I dropped Proteus after ten minutes of, uh... walking. It's pretty, but it really needed a Gone Home-esque hook to grab me.

Yeah, if you stay till night, you see some glowy orbs racing around a certain area on the island, if you go in the middle, they group up and warp you to the next season. You do this a total of 2 times and then get kicked back to the title screen after a while on the 4th season lol.

EDIT: drunk post don't mind me brb bashing my head as i haven't finished Trails SC yet even meanwhile here I am playing Kingdom Hearts games via remote play even though i've played each one literally 10 times already.

Anything really good on sale on the humble sale that is recent?

If they give the ME dlc for free on this page, why does everyone keep complaining about Bioware points? And do these DLCs work on the steam version?

edit: oh, for ME2 you need to first have bought these on the cerberus network before you can install these and play?

Your EA Account has to have the licenses for those DLCs associated with it, they offer the downloads there but you still have to pay for them.

They're just installers you need to have a license to play them.

JaseC linked that one old-ass thread in there and I guess GAF had emoticons at some point? All those :lol :lol :lol replies and shit are really weird to look at now.

The crazier thing was finding out that Bishoptl has been de-modded (de-administratored?). He also hasn't posted since December.

End of an era.

There just used to be the single one, it looked like this:

I guess it eventually got obnoxious and removed.

There was a wide green smiley too for :D but it wasn't used as much.

The :lol smiley was killed during an NPD thread where someone quoted something Evilore said and just posted the smiley as a response and Evilore wiped it from the board. It was getting out of hand by that point, as yeah, there were a lot of posts that just were replies of smileys. Lore said he ended it because it would force people to actually post something of value instead of pages of lol replies. People said that people would just post lol replies (or :jnc replies) anyway, but after a month or too, it actually did reduce the amount of low value responses.

Turns out Evilore was right.

Yeah, I think someone mentioned it here at the time, but it's still weird to see his old posts pop up without the name being red.

That's a classic emoticon, damn. I don't think I've seen it in years.

Mind you, image responses in SteamGAF still go strong. The face-down Pinocchio to represent "/dead," for example. And lots of stuff I do.

Turns out everyone just wants to be banpuncher and post anime jif replies all day every day.

I kinda started preparing for Assassin's Creed Origins by watching tons of Ancient Egypt documentaries XD It is one of my favorite historical periods after all :D

Read that first as Ancient Aliens, and then realized that it would fit perfectly as well.

It's nothing like it used to be.

It's exceptionally rare to find people posting the same gif or image multiple times on the same page or even the same thread. Posting LOL responses used to happen consecutively two or three times in a row, multiple times, on the same damn page. There were threads where 10% of the entire thread were just responses that contained smileys (sometimes just that smiley repeated dozens of times in one post). People would try to one up each other by seeing who could post the most LOL smileys or in what different configuration they could come up with (a giant LOL smiley made of LOL smileys).

It was too easy to do and completely content-less.

With posting an image or gif, it's rare that it comes multiple times, or if it does, it's usually variations on the theme. Which can be at least mildly amusing.

The built-in smiley was universal, which meant it was so common place that it was impossible to be amusing or surprising or interesting. Really, nothing of value was lost when it was murdered.

I still think during E3 time you will get a lot of NeoGAF meme gifs and stuff like that.

True, but this is likely for a few reasons:

1) The threads generally move too fast for people to care about the repetition. They are just more concerned about getting noticed in the deluge.

2) The mods are too overwhelmed by the volume of posts to be banning people for less concerning things like picture spam. It gets doubly as difficult because it's tough to be universally consistent when the post volume is so high; aside from just noticing it in the first place, if you start wanting to ban someone for pic spam or low content posts, you should be doing that for everyone who has similar posting habits, but the volume is so high, it's easier to just grant some leeway for the time being.

3) Everyone is generally in a better mood around E3. New hype and all that.

You mean the demo? The remaster isn't out yet.
Unless you are from the future (to check, my current date is 15.05.2017). In which case, I'd ask you to PM me all the lotto results in, say, Austria from the date above to your future one. I'd throw a few millions your way, as thanks
I wish but I meant the version put out about 2 years ago with a new translation. It's still such an utterly unique and involved game with weird branching quests and now it's actually possible to follow the incredible story!

It's just a shame as it's not like many here played the original version either and there's nothing like it on steam. Remember, the new game is going to be very different and not just a remake!

Reminded I need to play Knock Knock, think I made the ot years ago but found it far too distressing to play in that period of deep depression.

I've never played a Souls game. My Steam controller is arriving, at the latest, in two weeks, and several people recommended playing Dark Souls with the Steam controller, but DS1 isn't on sale at Humble. Anyone know why? Possible remaster incoming, or did they just forget?

Also, does anyone have any other recommend games to play to get used to the Steam controller? Woodsie has a pretty great video that I'll be following.

A quick last minute birthday givaway, and since he's too modest to say himself, I do believe our JaseC is also one year closer to the yawning chasm of oblivion. Happy Birthday, fella!
