Monster Hunter XX coming to Switch

Oh man I'm excited. I need this, and I need it yesterday. While personally I feel Generations was the weakest game in the series being able to play this on the Switch is a HUGE fucking deal. Unshackled from the 3DS, finally. Basically: G Rank back + Switch = into my veins.

There's transmogging.
For real? Don't toy with my heart!

It looks slightly better
Well that's kind of ridiculous. I still liked the game a lot but I can't say I support charging more for the same game

PS4 has better performance but the content is the same. Another way you could look at it is that the PS3 version is 10$ cheaper. If there was no PS4 version, then the PS3 version would be standard 60$.
An even better example would be DQ: Builders or Toukiden: Kiwami; 40$ on vita, 60$ on PS4 because the standard price for handheld tittles is 40$ and for consoles it's 60$.
I see. I guess part of that is because handheld games are typically seen as lesser or smaller experiences so charging the same price would have no doubt made some Vita owners avoid the Vita version

Can we have more of them pixels? Like for once?

MH3U had two major graphical issues:

1. Framerate was inconsistent, and ran lower than on 3DS.

2. Texture improvements were basically half-done. So many objects such as all weapons and armor were left untouched, and some background objects, even ones right in your face at all times (like the smithy's area) were also left untouched.

Hopefully they do a full-job. The Wii U game was obviously rushed for launch, this won't be. Hopefully the improve every single texture in the game (which they did for MH4U on N3DS no?), and have it run at a locked 60fps. Bonus points if they migrate the game to the main MT Framework engine as opposed to the Mobile engine, like they did for Revelations HD.

I'm thinking about something in line with MH3U for Wii U

Yeah, anyone expecting more is in for a disappointment. maybe with MH5, but I'm not holding my breath.

Higher resolution, better textures and 60fps would make it good enough for me.

Edit: People still claw? I every action game I played, I didn't need to _see_ the enemy to know the current position. Guess that's what you learn playing NG II and RE4-6.

I thought it was a bit odd that they localised the first version of the game when they usually wait until the enhanced version is out in Japan. Guess this explains it.

It was inevitable, always was gonna get a MH game.Cannot wait,I'd say this will shift alot of Switch consoles in Japan,as long as Nintendo get there supply sorted

Do we know how high the original assets can be pushed in MH ? I remember a while back (for MH4U I think) some data mining showing how much higher rez all assets (especially on monsters) were. That's nothing extraordinary in itself, as artists almost always work with as high assets as possible and then scale down, but that means there's definitely a chance we get a proper HD version, not just upscaled (which would be really lazy and frankly definitely a possibility also, but yeah).

EDIT : also, can you imagine the game on that beautiful, beautiful screen in all 60fps glory ? Dear lord, it's gonna be glorious.

I didn't think Monster Hunter games were dialogue heavy. Why not just buy the Japanese version?
It's not dialogue heavy but it is loot and crafting heavy. If you're looking for five specific monster parts for an upgrade, trying to work out what they are in a language you don't know (I.e. Is that 'wyvern fang' or 'dragon tooth' etc) without a guide can be tough.

So, the Switch will have restock issues for the rest of the year in Japan now?
Yeah. Although I think the MH effect (alongside Mario, Zelda etc) is not so much MHXX specifically as loads of people bought it on 3DS there already, it's more that it's conformation that MH will be on the Switch going forward.

correct me if i'm wrong but this is the refined version of Monster Hunter Generations and also came out on the 3ds?

why is allowing people to buy the game a third time a big deal for the switch in japan?

i mean besides the implications of probably getting MH5.

This isn't any different to when Monster Hunter 3G was released on 3DS or Monster Hunter G on Wii.

What is the reason this XX game doesnt come to other platforms like PC and PS4 if they want to expand their userbase in west.

Spinoff of a game that has a large playerbase of handheld users. Fans say it would not work on a home console, people who would love to see it appear on home consoles think differently.

Just thinking from Capcom side, they port bunch of platforms but this only to Switch really? I mean porting same game to PC and PS4 wouldnt cost that much would it?
