Some of these choices just make no fucking sense on the Capcom side. Nemesis instead of Wesker? Really?

In terms of gameplay archetype and style it makes sense why they chose him. There's no other big-body tank character (with existing assets :/) like him.

There's a difference between seeing it with pixels and seeing it with 3D models.

Idk how Jedah's gory attacks made it past the ratings board. It was pretty clear and well animated in 2D.
This is what I keep trying to figure out in my head....really hope they keep true to his moveset and dont butcher what he is.

There isn't gonna be any blood. We can all 100% guarantee that.

There's a reason for that: Nemesis was trash tier in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. He as a concept really just doesn't work. Sentinel, Hulk, and Thor are better examples of how to design big characters in these games that can actually compete with the rest of the cast. Nemesis needs significant changes to be effective.

Ditching Wesker is on its own baffling considering his popularity.

Which is weird because one of the problems people have with SFV DLC characters is they are changing too much and not re-using old characters or moves. Ibuki SFV is a completely different character than 3s or 4 Ibuki. I like the DLC support for SFV btw haven't had a problem with their output compared to other games they are getting a good amount of content out.

I would think there is not a lot of correlation between. MVC coming too fast from announcement not even 1 year

SFV had a similar development time. They had money help from Sony though. Probably adding the story mode from the get go ate up a good chunk of their budget. Capcom probably had to pay Marvel instead of the other way around for this though judging by how dumb their last contract was.

Well, I remember people were upset about lack of female and diversity characters

I don't recall that off hand but I'll take your word for it. I don't believe I frequented NeoGAF back then and those type of complaints I don't usually see as frequently on other forums.

I do recall a lot of people complaining about the short period of time for the upgrade, I think it was 7 months. My friends were still playing MvC3 regularly when Ultimate hit so honestly that was kind of ridiculous. It was a solid upgrade though and IMO worth the money

That would require some actual work.

MVC3 Dante is the safest bet.

I said full trainwreck, I didn't say it was likely.

If they put in original Dante, DmC fans will understand and probably admit he's the more popular version.

If they put DmC Dante in fans of the earlier games will throw a massive fit.

But yeah DM 3 version is likely the way to go, due to laziness if nothing else.

It's the obvious bet since they revealed Chris.

The laziness on chris pisses me off even more now since Wesker is no where to be seen. Like damn you could've at least given him his RE6 outfit.

Do we know for sure who that "other" capcom character is? Are we just assuming it's Frank West?

I find it interesting that both Ryce and Saikyo didn't know the 14th capcom character.

Yea I dunno, Gamora is actually a pleasant surprise for me

I don't believe for a second that they were genuinely hard locked to MCU only characters.

Hard locked, no. But we absolutely know they were that stubborn and weren't going to budge so we shouldn't really be surprised

After. Hell there about 5 ones in the movies alone that should have been in here before Gamora.

Wasp, Jessica Jones, Elektra, Mantis, Quake, Valkyrie, Ancient One... heck, I'd take Maria Hill or Peggy Carter at this rate.

Well this roster doesn't have any characters from Netflix and AoS. I thought they would have included an Inhuman but I was wrong.

20 MCU Marvel women?

Scarlet Witch
Black Widow
Nebula
Hela
Sif
Wasp
Peggy Carter

I think that's it.

Jessica Jones
Elektra

I bet they wanted to put Wasp but then realized they could release DLC alongside the new movie.

Black Widow, though... not sure what the excuse is for her absence.

I really think this roster is a result of a small budget and Capcom cynically trying to maximize safe sales.

Which makes the capcom side even more funny. If they were going full in on that, their side doesn't show it.

It has every major franchise they have left that carries any weight. Monster Hunter(1x), Resident Evil (2x), Street Fighter (2x). If anything they should have brought in more Monster Hunter characters but looks like the Capcom side is the only area they had to experiment with character wise. Marvel side has some interesting gameplay though Ant-Man could be really sick. I full expect Nova to be kid Nova. Doesn't Marvel hate the regular Nova or something?

If they were trying to go in for their big franchises. They would've doubled up bigger names. So stuff like DR and DMC would be having 2 characters instead of one.
2 DS and 2GG aren't pushing that "we gotta go for what makes the most money". Along with the odd solos like Spencer.

The roster as a whole is odd. Because you can say the Marvel side is definitely aiming at the general audience. But the capcom side fails in both hardcore appeal and general appeal. General appeal would've had more reps from the bigger franchises I listed and the more popular picks (Wesker over Nemesis). While appealing to more hardcore would've had more diversity than what is present.

This is why I stand that it's like they went all in on the Marvel side due to mandate. Then just kinda floundered around with their picks since Marvel is the priority.
