Yeah, I made a thread about that but from another article:

You should update your thread to reflect the now reported sum of $28B by Apple and Amazon.

It's not like Sony has never announced a game way too early or anything . . .

Gran Turismo also seems to take it's time.Isn't the TLG the only game that came really late. All the other games people cry about are 3rd party games. Plus there was a thread showing Sony actually on average has a pretty quick turnaround between announcement and release of games debuting at conferences.
MH4 was announced before 3G came out.
Would Nintendo announce a 3DS only pkmn Stars, and then announce a switch port at the end of the year for spring 2018 to get double dippers?
shrug
I don't think they've ever done both a third version and "sequels" to the same game before though? Though I guess this is the first time there is no backwards compatibility.
it's an alternative story of Sun and Moon( Pokemon If)You can kind of look at it like Black and White 2. Except they used Ultra instead of the "2".
I think Nintendo made one right move and one wrong one there. Pokken DX is a good title for the fall and should benefit from the Switch hardware and popularity a lot so that makes sense.
They will hurt the mainline Pokémon games by releasing Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon on just 3DS though. I think combined they will be the worst selling entries since maybe Crystal. TPC will make a quick buck off of the reuse of assets and quick turnaround, but it might hurt the franchise further down the line from fatigue. Hopefully the eventual Switch title will be full fledged now.

Not exactly. 2 = Sequel, Ultra = Remix. You can kind of look at it like Black and White 2. Except they used Ultra instead of the "2".

I think the majority of Pokemon's audience will still have a 3DS.

I think the games were planned for 3DS before the Switch launched.Sun and Moon hit 15-16 million on 3DS.
Switch is currently having a very dire stock problem WW. We can see why US and UM hit 3DS there.
And considering how Pokemon is currently is doing really well in the mind of the mass. It will certainly did really well for sure.^^ Beating Crystal should not be difficult.
Sun and Moon did that on the back of Pokémon GO. The ultra games won't have that benefit.Sun and Moon hit 15-16 million on 3DS.

Lol and to think some "experts" thought that no more big games are going to come to 3ds this year and everything will be on switch. Looks like Nintendo is serious about continuing support for the platform through next year when most likely they will announce a handheld only variant of the switch.

So Chris, how is that "no more big games from Nintendo for 3DS" going? (I know, GameFreak is not Nintendo ).
I said that 3DS still has some power left sales wise (at least in Japan) so it's not dead at all. And even being portable, Switch is still a home console for Nintendo for better or worse. We'll see if this view still stands on 2018 but for now is Switch AND 3DS to ride 2017 HW wise.
You know, DS received a new Pokemon almost 2 years after 3DS was out. I never spoke for Pokemon not getting another entry on 3DS or what it will sell and we still wait to see who will be right for FE or what it will sell that "big" title.
Sun and Moon did that on the back of Pokémon GO. The ultra games won't have that benefit.

If you really think that the new Pokemon games are on 3DS and not on Switch due to the userbase then you don't know anything
As I said in the announcement thread maybe one day a book about GameFreak will be written... and that day will be glorious I tell you hahaha
I think not to port Ultra Sun and Moon on Switch is a mistake, anyway a direct port only with HD graphics could have been not that much interesting for Switch users, seems we have to wait one more year for a proper Pokémon release on Switch.
I didn't expect 3DS only getting a new version just 1 year after S/M though.
This discussion for Pokemon isn't very different from the famous Monster Hunter one, but the only thing I am sure is that the third version wouldn't come out only on 3DS 1 year after Sun / Moon. Switch is in the picture one way or another.
I was expecting something along the lines of 80% attach rate for Zelda.
Still thinking it is going to be the Switchs first million seller and get there before MK8D drops.
Wonder how many people bought the Wii U version.
By selling around 650k in March and another 350k in April.
I think you wanted to quote this one, just because you like to do this with other people.
To me, it sounded like you ment that the games were released on 3DS because of the Switch stock problems. Wasnt that what you ment?I don't think what u said contradict with what i said though.

So when should mario release? I feel a little weird...
And maybe US&UM will sell lower than crystal in Japan, considering the fact that the sales of SM were just... bad? in my opinion.
Sorry for my poor english.

Lol. So u wanted to said that the reason why they put on 3DS is not for muney but some other reason? GF had shown that they cared more about Userbase since the old times so i am not shocked that this also come to 3DS first.^^

well, technically Nintendo still dropped a nuclear announcement
edit: also that pokemon direct thread got locked
I guess u wanted to said GF is incompetent enough to make a Switch game early lol.^^
Re: Pokemon. Two thoughts
1- I don't think Pokemon was really needed this year for Switch. It will do just fine (especially Japan)
2- I do think it was needed in the sense of broadcasting to the 3DS userbase that the transition to Switch is happening.

Not incompetent, just lazy (and I hate to throw the "lazy devs" term but they could fit in the definition). But it's not the only factor as I also stated here several (not a "couple") years ago
Anyway, let's end the topic because it goes to nowhere from here. What are your first sales expectations for the title in Japan? Less than B&W2 and the remakes? or more?
