Days Gone E3 2017 Gameplay

It was too much scripted, you are not presenting a new Uncharted, it's an open world game with a very dynamic horde, why not show some big dynamic scenarios? I'm still not sure how this game's gameplay works.

Gotta mention that visually it was incredible, and on regular PS4 from what I've heard, I don't know how Sony's first party devs are doing this, there is such a huge gap between them and the rest.

Still looks rather average and uninspired. It doesn't look bad but it's still lacking some spark to really make it shine. Needs more stuff like the zombie bear.

Still interested in the game. I love stealth. With how small bend is and no release date indicate to me that the game is ways off and Sony is giving them a lot of time to make it.

Have to assume this was given the go ahead before Naughty Dog actually decided they'd do Last of Us Part II, because otherwise it's very hard to understand why it exists.

The game looks like it could be good... Not sold on the main protagonist.

I'd probably give it a shot. Would like to see more

Open world vs linear. Different type of zombies slow vs fast with animal zombies. Not exactly the same.

Noticed that the group shot the guy in the bear trap to shut him up, but the shot alerted the nearby horde to their location. I wonder if they always react the same way when one of their buddies are trapped or they try other means to helping them. Also, you as the player have to account for this scenario and be aware of your surroundings or you might accidentally bite off more than you can chew.

Third person stealth-focused open world games are truly this generation's modern military shooters. To make an analogy: this is less CoD4:MW and more Medal of Honor 2010. I just cannot for the life of me get hyped for this. World War Z zombies aren't as big a pull to me as Horizon's robo-dinosaurs, for example.

That's the thing.

If everything happening like this will be emergent gameplay, and they have a solid story woven in, it could be something special.
Truly.

If it's all scripted or semi scripted with only 1 or 2 ways to get out of any situation and nothing happening randomly, it might end up as just another action adventure with semi open world and post apoc setting.

This is definitely a video game that is in development and will be released in retailers when it is finished.

I basically came to say this lol.

It's really awkward that the game doesn't look bad at all but it feels extremely generic, only thing missing there was towers. I mean, had this been first person it'd be a playable summary of AAA western gaming these last two gens.

Riding a motorcycle in an open world sounds fun tho, I guess.

Looks like a Mad Libs AAA game.

Third person action game. Main character is a world weary white man who has to survive in a world ravaged by zombies. He rides a motorcycle and uses Biker Vision to scout the area for enemies.

Throw in a dead relative and we have ourselves a 10/10 game.

I want to hear what the gaming press think about this game. I am sure they will see a lot more than we will. Just seems like it is kinda hard to demo.

I trust that this game will be great though.

Yeah, I don't know if there's going to be much middle ground with this game where it either turns out really awesome or not.

I really liked the stealth and the use of the horde this time. It must really tense when you're actually playing yourself and not just watching with the horde that close by.

And the motorcycle.

That's another thing. Does he really need this vision ability like so many other games have as well? Why does he have it? It's about as dumb as TLOU's silly super vision.

Kind of agree with this. I still think the game will be fun to play but next to the other first party games Days Gone stands out as something less unique. I really like Bend though and hope they can pull something special here.

Looks amazing but there's something about the game that just doesn't draw me in at all. To be honest, I probably won't get this until the game goes on sale or something like that.

The thing I appreciate that this game is doing is infected animals. Those are unfortunately rarer than they should be in zombie games.

Graphically looks amazing. Everything else, well I guess I wasn't wrong about finding it uninteresting. Good luck Bend, you'll need it.

Best wishes.

As with last year, i love the look of this. A daryl dixon simulator essentially. If they nail the story it's going to be excellent! One of he best of e3 this year for me.

Meh.

Seemed like something, but quite a few steps too much like stuff thats been shovelled at us for years and years. Might get at a low low price if it turns out decent.

like i said on sony conference thread
i wasn't interested at all when they revealed, but this trailer changed my mind a bit
still not sure if i'm buying, but i'll definitely check it out
i mean if there's zombie bears then they probably have some more interesting enemies

A lot of what happened in that demo is dynamic. They just said in the extended demo at E3 you can avoid that rope across the road ambush and approach everything from a different angle. Very interesting.
that's on of the things I wanted know when I saw that happened. hearing it being dynamic just sold me more... if bend plays right... I can definitely see this game being something were you always have to be on your toes so to speak.

I like the game and will probably buy it, but I think the problem is with their cinematic trailers. They should show pure gameplay like Guerrilla did with Horizon.

I agree the developers are having a hard time differentiating this from other Sony's FP, but I think it has something to offer if Sony greenlit it.

Yeah, they'll need luck selling an open world game, with scavenging, survival elements, excellent visuals, massive zombie hordes and the marketing that a triple A game gets. They'll need all the luck in the world.

Glad Sam Witwer's getting work. Everything else about this...

If someone told me this was "The last of us 2" I'd believe them. But it looks so generic. It's kinda disappointing ow generic it looks.

The dude has a dead girlfriend/wife, right? I remembered seeing a scene of him riding a bike with a lady... I just assumed she's already dead.

It didn't look scripted to me. Looked like there were different ways to approach each area.

Game looks fun for sure but the MC looks like a douchey turd not going to lie. Maybe we can customize his look.

Looks polished and clean as fuck. I'm not as pessimistic as everyone else seems to be, but I do understand why people have zombie fatigue. That, and the fact that every other Sony game is trying to be Last of Us in tone.

The game looked great and I don't get why people do this to themselves and the game but why do some of you expect to see something that isn't heavily scripted at these shows? These demos are typically specially crafted and tirelessly rehearsed for this event. You're not going to see emergent gameplay or the more novel systems that the game possesses.

Would it have been great to see Deacon(?) slipping into some band of survivors camp, plant explosives to draw in the horde, raiding their food and munitions stockpile, siphoning gas from their vehicles to refill his own tank and detonating aforementioned explosives to make his escape and destroy a possible future threat to his own enclave? Yea, that sounds pretty cool in my opinion but it wouldn't make for a very great presentation for a number of reasons.

1.) It's not easily controllable
2.) It's likely not action-oriented enough to generate or hold attendants/viewers attention

The game looks great, I'm sure some of the games some complainers are looking forward too aren't reinventing the wheel...but why do they get a pass? Anthem had beautiful graphics but what does it bring to the table that is new? What is Days Gone doing that is more offensive than what Anthem, Destiny 2 or CoD:WW2 are offering players?
