Apple iPad Pro |OT|

Just picked my 10.5 up from the UPS store. Holy shit this is snappy, especially compared to my Gen 4. I almost stopped browsing online completely on my 4 because my iPhone was so much faster. And 120hz is much appreciated.

So the new iPad Pro's can transfer data at USB 3.0 speeds from Computer to iPad Pro over lightening to USB cable...

... but do I need to use the USB to lightening cable that came with my new iPad Pro to get these speeds. I have lots and lots of USB to lightening cables and I have no idea which is which...

...if necessary is there any way to look at a lightening cable and determine whether it is capable of USB3 speeds with iPad Pro?

All lightning cables with USB-A are 2.0, you’ll need USB-C

Oh so if I sync to my 2015 5K iMac then I am stuck at USB2.0 speeds since it doesn't have USBC ports?

That is horrible to know...

Correct! I assume it’s to avoid market confusion of having USB2.0 and 3.0 cables look exactly the same. They just delayed the adoption of 3.0 speeds until USB-C

Probably due to bezel being smaller.

This is the exact thing happening to mine. Just pressing the screen with any pressure does this, and tapping the home button normally does it too. I set up a Genius Bar appointment for tonight to go get it looked at / swapped out.

My coworker got one as well and isn't anywhere near as obvious on his.

Stopped by the store just now, the amount of flex going on with my screen was NOT normal. The demo units when hitting the home button relatively firmly either didn’t have any flex or a small amount, mine will have quite a lot of give through just normal use. Getting it swapped today

FYI, this case was manufactured with incorrect specifications: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0719P6XNB/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Just had mine delivered today and it sure enough doesn't have a large enough cutout for the camera. I've contacted the seller asking for a functioning replacement. Otherwise, this is perfect for my needs (covers the back and I use a Smart Cover in conjunction). I'll update if/when I get a working replacement.

I went for a 10.5 with a Smart Keyboard case. Ive just been using it for a while, and while I'm very impressed with the keyboard, I cant seem to type apostrophes. The speech marks (shift+the same key) work just fine, so I'm assuming its a software bug.

Has anyone else encountered this?

(I should add that I'm still on 10.whatever - I haven't upgraded to the Dec preview of 11)

EDIT: Having fiddled a bit more, it seems that this only happens when I have the GBoard keyboard activated, the apostrophe works as normal with the stock apple software keyboard. Bugger.

I'm getting the 64 iPad Pro 10.5 one today. I'm jumping from an iPad Air so I assume it is going to blow me away.

Any good iPad Pro games to play on it or sweet Apps I should get?

I tried setting up my iPad Pro but I keep getting verification failed.

What do I do?

It keeps failing. How do I set it up, this is annoying. I can't use my new iPad.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Got it to finally work after just resetting the iPad through iTunes.

What's a good ad blocker to use on iPad (preferably free) and that I can whitelist certain sites?

Thinking of picking up something like this for my 10.5 (once it gets here). Just something that will protect the iPad (with attached Smart Cover) if I want to take it somewhere or slip it into my messenger bag.

Anyone have anything similar that they could recommend?

EDIT: I can vouch for Purify too, at least on iPhone (my current iPad is a third gen, so no support for it currently).

I don't want to shit on people but I don't get the love for Bellroy.

I got one of their wallets and it was really crap quality. The leather felt like plastic it was so processed and the stitching looked like it was going to fallout within a week of wear. I sent it back.
I bought direct from their site, so its not like I bought a fake.

I want one, but my mind can't justify the price when I add in all the extra bullshit.

Like if I want 128 gigs of storage + the keyboard cover I'm at like almost $1000 especially if I also get a pencil.

Guess I'll wait it out since iOS11 isn't even out yet and try and see if I can get a deal at some point later this year.

256. But yeah, it definitely isn't cheap. I think a lot better f folks are upgrading, and old iPads can have decent resale value, so that can help a bit with cost

So from all the reviews I've been looking at says that the Logitech Slim Combo is crap. Turns the iPad into the size of a MBP, feels cheap, and the smart connector is flimsy.

I broke. About to go pick a 10.5 up. Want the 12" but I can't imagine foregoing mobility so much.

Mostly looking for organization and note taking advice. Haven't had an iPad since my original Mini. Must have apps and such would be appreciated.

I was planning on the 10" ipad, but I ordered a gold 13" ipad for more drawing space.

I went with 256gb, for fear of 64 being too little.

I mean, I like it. But maybe I’m easy to please

Edit: well okay like it is possibly a stretch. I’m tolerating it. Still might return it if I can find a better case

Well if you are willing to wait a while, there will be some great sales down the road and the price will drop. I'm not in a rush to drop that kind of dough, but I know there's always Swappa. I'm thinking I'll get the 256 GB at $600

Yeah I wouldn't even mind doing an Apple refurb.

My tablet and the wife's tablet are both old though, and we use it for a media device from the bed. So I got the angle that I can sell the wife on it as an upgrade for the both of us. :p

I've had issues with every single software keyboard add on.

I'm not familiar with the Smart connector technology. Why that over Bluetooth?

Magnetic and physical pairing also able to transmit power.

So you're saying that the Apple keyboardis really the best option? Lame.

I think I just want the option of a slim/adjustable stand that I can sit on the lap. Don't even care anymore if I use a wireless keyboard with it.

that pic is misleading lol. oh well. I'm digging it and if you're looking for total protection with keyboard, pencil holder and a slim profile, then this is the best option.

Well I am still excited for the Logitech case. I like the big lip around my device. And I like being able to remove the keyboard without putting on a different case. And I'll try to be careful with the connectors and we will see how it goes. I also like the kickstand.

Depends on the use case.

The pic is slightly misleading, but it is bulkier than the Apple keyboard.

If you want the iPad to be used more as an iPad and less as a laptop you'd ideally want a slim case to not add bulk/weight.

If apple would make a back add-on, I'd probably prefer that and their keyboard to the logitech, but for right now, logitech is the best.

Well the screen flexing is still present on my replacement 10.5”. It might be just a thing they do. I think it’s bullshit that it happens just from pressing the home button but what are you going to do?

To me the Logitech case seems like it turns it into a laptop, I'm not sure how much it weighs either. Trust me I'm rooting for the Logitech, will probably ask the folks at Apple to open one up for me to see which one I like better. But so far the reviews for this thing is subpar. I have a feeling that I should wait and see what Moshi has to offer.

I had to turn the volume down on my iPhone... not sure.

Looks like the Logitech case with keyboard attached roughly doubles the weight of both iPAd pros.

10.5 256gb Sold out at all the Best Buy's around me for 50 miles. Looks like should be back in stock late June. Guess they are moving well.

Does your iPad Pro 10.5 home button make a click sound on its side? Like on the right side I can put pressure on it and it makes a slight click sound. On the left side there is no sound. Is this normal?

I don't want to return it as the display looks great but I am worried maybe the home button will wear off donee then later.

So whatever tablet I get whether it's this or a Tab S3 (if they were to get stupidly cheap), I want to use it as tablet on my lap or in bed 70% of the time.

I think I've found my solution. When I want to use a keyboard I will probably go with this:

An aluminum foldable stand

Don't need the keyboard all the time and I save a ton of money going this route.

I just go with the apple Smart Cover. Was annoyed they don't do a product red version for the 10.5 though. The software keyboard is a pretty nice size in landscape for natural typing, or you could consider something like the canopy which is designed to work with the apple magic keyboard and converts into an iPad stand. Or just a separate Bluetooth keyboard like the Logitech k380. I guess the Smart Keyboard has the advantage of always being at your fingertips so requires no thought to just start typing, but the price is egregious to me.

I am looking for a sleeve to protect when it's in a bag so would appreciate any recommendations.

Got my 10.5 in this afternoon. Only thing I dislike about it so far is how light the grey on the back is. Matte black like the iPhone would have been great.

Anybody in here grab Affinity Photo whilst it's on sale? Worth the £20 for some like photo editing?

This is a crazy subjective question, but is it worth buying he 2017 12.9" over the 2015 12.9" if you're not a graphics artist or illustrator? Like, if I'm going to read comics, do some drawing, word and excel stuff, some CAD, and game on it?
