It sucks so bad when you have the rainmaker just points from winning, but no one in your team is covering your back. It absolutely blows that no one ever does that, losing so many matches in rainmaker because of this.

Hello all, simple question regarding the amiibos unlock. How do I get the full set for them? I've scanned them all and I've only received the headpieces.

Most people in general just don't play rainmaker right....aka as a team.

They just had to change the RM to barely kill anybody.

Im not sure exactly how they figure it out. But it is wonky for sure. Some people said that its based on loadouts. But to me that doesnt seem right cause ive often enough been on teams with 3 other rollers. Or went against 4 people charger teams or 4 people aero teams.

In turf war, the game generally puts people into lobbies based on a combination of experience and playstyle with your current weapon being taken into account (people joining on friends notwithstanding). Note that this is just to fill the lobby, not forming teams in each individual game, which is done randomly once the room is full.

Ranked, if it works similarly to the last game, categorizes weapons into several classes based on stuff like attack ranges. It fills the lobby based on rank (and probably proximity to an extent), and then forms teams with an attempt to keep the categories even. This is why you can still get stuff like multiple of the same weapon on a team, since it isn't taken into account until the round itself starts, not when filling the room in the first place.

Started playing 4-man League Battle, and I've DCed from nearly every battle I've played. Not only that but I stop getting voice data from Discord, even though it still thinks I'm connected.

Where do I even start debugging this? I've had this issue with 2-man as well, but it doesn't happen if I host the room. Oddly enough when I tried to host a 4-man room, my teammates claimed that Splatoon thought my room was already full when it clearly wasn't

Level up a few times and then scan they again. Don't remember the exact level you need to be to unlock everything tho.

Played a ton of Salmon Run last night and had a great time as usual! I've thought myself to be kind of crap with the Charger weapon type, but I've finally realized I was using them wrong. I was always way too tempted to dive right into the action and fire off (weak) quick shots instead of letting my teammates do most of the fighting when it comes to Chum.

Last night I just stayed back and focused on the bigger guys that I knew I could one-shot and it worked out great! Seems really dumb and simple, but I'm not the type of person who likes to stand back. That's definitely why I like the Brella so much. It's a really great team-focused weapon but it can also be really handy if you find yourself on your own. Weapons like the Charger seem to only be really effective when you have backup.

Just had a team in which two refused, they outright refused to much past the mid point of Starfish Mainstage, they stick to our half regardless of me mashing that "This way!" which could've given us a victory if they helped.

Rainmaker is outright infuriating with the wrong people in your team...

If it's both Discord and Splatoon, then it's probably not either individual piece of software. If you're on a University or company network, the network is likely blocking something important, and you're kind of out of luck. If this is happening on a home network, then you might try poking at your router settings. First, make sure that UPnP is turned on. If it is, and you're still having trouble, check to see if your router has QoS (Quality of Service) features, and try turning them off (or turning them on, if they're already off -- they can help or they can hurt).

That's probably the best place to start. The next steps usually involve opening ports (UPnP should take care of that, though), and figuring out whether you are doubled natted. (That last can be a mess.)

I actually did that yesterday with the Splat Brella preventing the guy chasing us to kill the RM and we turned the match around. Never seen anyone do that for me though.

Dude, last night kept pairing me with horrible people in Rainmaker too. Like, how do some of these people get to "A" rank when they either refuse to grab/don't keep the person with the Rainmaker safe or will not move past the mid way point trying to splat the enemy team? As you said, it's infuriating.

So i just had a game in rainmaker where we had a great start and went straight to the enemy base. Except the guy with the rainmaker just went past the point where he was supposed to stand and started shooting at the enemy spawn. We lost.

I despise this mode.

Stories like this are honestly why I've refused to touch Ranked/League battle while playing solo. I have no desire to get steamrolled by a functional team while I play with some randoms.

even when I was over level 10 I had to first save a loadout to the amiibo and then rescan to get the rest of the gear

Honestly if I see rainmaker I just don't played ranked from the next 2 hours I find that mode by far to be the toughest.

Rainmaker is too much of a crap shoot solo. Way too many pubs that don't know wtf to do which makes no sense to me when they are level 20 and above...by now they should know what to do.

You kind sir (or dame) are a terrific player! I was doing this myself just now, that umbrella is amazing!

Well I lost my S+ Rank, but managed to almost fill the normal S back up to +. This feels so annoying, but I'm happy to almost have made it back up!

Edit:

I had this once with a player of the opposing team doing the same, but he went to his own spawn and stayed there. I had no idea what the hell he was doing, but it gave me a good chuckle.

5-14 tonight.
A procession of 3 person teams and people that have no idea about the objective.

Since we're sharing Rainmaker stories, this one is from yesterday. Everything about yesterday was a complete shit show and I lost my S rank. Anyway, started a match strong, killed off three people, burst the Rainmaker bubble and wanted to grab it when I see the 4th enemy come at me. He threw one of those walking bombs (forgot the name) and I killed him. Of course, that thing was going to explode so I couldn't pick up the Rainmaker. No problem, I thought, one of the other guys will do it.

So I swim away and turn the camera to see who picks it up and where he goes. Guess what, nobody did. My team stood there looking at it and not one mate freaking touched it. So the bomb explodes, I swim back all the way to the Rainmaker, pick it up, make my way as far as I can, now the 1st guy splatted by me has respawned and takes me out. Well, I killed him, too. Do I have to mention that nobody accompanied me? Nope. Not one. Instead of getting the points down to 20–30, it was only 50 something. Of course, we lost that round later.

I honestly cannot imagine what goes on in people's mind when they do shit like this and how the heck they reach S rank in the first place. The only mode that doesn't seem to be riddled with idiots seems to be Tower Control, where I am S+0 right now.

Looks like we all had our share of rainmaker stories, yesterday on the ink academy, the enemy team almost reached the pedestal, but we stopped the carrier at like 5 points from it. With the remaining 3 shooting at us from under the statue on our spawn and their four ready to jump to them did a risky move to take the rainmaker that was under siege and barely escaped with it to the back of the pedestal an into the garden that connects to the middle shooting and swimming as fast as I could. Now, I feel like my team did a good job distracting the other team or at least keeping them busy because while I was running to their pedestal, wasn't shoot on the back or did see anyone jumping back to their spawn.

So at the end I reach the goal and we won with KO, a nice highlight in a sea of failed matches and cracked progress bars, hahaha, at least I'm in the ok zone of the bar.

Is there some kind of ELO system for the matchmaking in the normal games? Played with a friend who isn't as skilled as I am and the opponents were way easier than when I solo queue. Our levels were similar (Me 15, she 13) so I don't think that was the issue.
Edit: has the map that was during the Splatfest put into another rotation? I liked that map!

BTW. I don't get the OT Title, can someone explain?
A take on the "x in just 5 easy steps" ad trope, but for getting from the smallest of the enemies to the one most people vehemently hate. Also a tip in that you should clear the smallfry first when taking out the Flyfish.

That's how I understood it at least.

I think they also are the same enemy, just inside a tracking missile death machine.

Nope. Seems like it's a Splatfest exclusive, at least for now. I have no idea why, seeing as the game isn't exactly bursting at the seems with stages.

Ugh, Splat Zones is the worst mode for me because it actually requires teamwork and communication in order to win. It's practically impossible to carry your team in it, unlike say rainmaker.

How in the world have people filled entire slots with their preferred perks already :/
I got a run speed up hat with three run speed up subs naturally. It was my first piece of gear with matching triple subs too. I never once got a single piece of equipment in the original Splatoon with matching main and subs.

Lots of scrubbing and then the week of Splatfest scrubbing even more, then using the shells to reroll and then use chunks as needed.

Current gear ----

---Main ability first, subs second ---

Hat: Sub Saver, Sub Saver, Ink Recovery, Ink Recovery
Shirt: Sub Saver, Sub Saver, Main Saver, Main Saver
Shoes: Ink Recovery, Ink Recovery, Ink Recovery, Main Saver

Aesthetically I want different shoes so it'll take a while to get all that ink recovery back, but hat/shirt are good.

Drink tickets, knowing what brands give what, and a lot of luck.

Current set:

Top: Ink Saver Main, Swim Speed Up, Run Speed Up, Swim Speed Up
Shirt: Ninja Squid, Ink Resistance, Ink Saver Main, Bomb Up
Shoes: Ink Resistance, Run Speed Up, Ink Recovery Up, Swim Speed Up

I need a better shirt but I haven't found anything with Ninja Squid and a brand I want. I guess I could reroll the shoes as well but I don't want to risk losing Run Speed and Swimp Speed just to see if I can double up on Run Speed.

The only thing equally annoying is when your team captures the rainmaker into overtime, and the clown with the rainmaker just charges right into an onslaught of enemy fire - leaving their backup way behind - and gets splatted in no time, of course!

What's the point of an overtime play if you're gonna burn it like that? Just relax, let back up lead the way. You stand a much better chance at forging ahead to steal the win. It's this selfish way of playing that really kills such team oriented modes.

A few days ago in rain maker, I encountered a team, that dispite basically crushing us, refused to go beyond "10", also they refused to pick up the rain maker except for picking it to keep it from respawning back in the center. There were several occasions when they could of finished the match but didn't. My team never got past midpoint. Talk about embarrassing. Uhhg. Also Rain maker is my favorite mode.

Sad thing is drink and brand doesn't stack, drinks wipes brands' x5 effect. :/

Ok, I think I'm on board: fuck Tri-Sloshers.

Pretty sure the two "side" sloshes did less damage in S1 and that needs to happen again. They have the spread larger than a blaster, the mobility of a sploosh and the inability to see through thier fire like a brush. Burst Bombs and Ink Armor is a ridiculous kit - they are so difficult to punish when they are stocked.

More than anything the current Tri-Slosher (and Octobrush to a degree) represent a playstyle that has largely been done away with in Splatoon 2, evidenced by the new loadouts for classic weapons and nerfs to perks like quick respawn and stealth jump - going ham and gaming perks for favorable trades would be the counter like it was for Luna Blaster hell in S1.

Also, the nerfs to subs like mines (no OHKO), point sensors (so much more ink cost), and the new disruptors (positional vs. character, occluding targets rather than making them more obvious) that could make life harder for Tri-Sloshers and OBs (or at least force them to run Cold-Blooded and take away a movement or special stack) are not replaced by anything else.

I don't miss the crazy mobility/close-range/kill-trading meta towards the end of S1, but Tri-Sloshers seem out of place if not a tad OP in this game. (S/S+1/S+1, 105 hours so far).

I'll share a RM story too: I splatted the full enemy team next to the RM. A teammate picks it up, great! I ink the way forwards while shouting "follow me". After some distance I turn around...and see that the guy had gone towards our spawn, where the respawned enemy team killed him and won the match.
Another time we where winning comfortably, splat the whole enemy team and one teammate picks the RM with little time remaining. He goes towards our spawn, maybe thinking it'd be easier to defend it there...now, when the enemy team desperately attacked he continued retreating more and more instead of trying to take another route or go out of bounds, to the point he was standing right next to the goal. An enemy kills him, touches the RM and it's an instant win for them.

You guys complain that your team doesn't touch the RM but believe me, sometimes it's better they just don't get close to it lol

You're all randoms in ranked. There are no teams.

You have to play league battle to team up and you can't play it with randoms. Well you get partnered with a random couple in duos but so does the other team.

Seriously? That sucks. I thought that was how I got two Swim Speed Up boosts on my Aviators. I'm assuming that the effect from drinks is still greater than the brand effects, right?

God forbid Nintendo makes anything easy.

Funnily enough Rainmaker is the only mode that I've broken into A Rank so far.

Basically just a string of dumb luck, where each match ended in under a minute back to back

My "favorite" Rainmaker moment in Splatoon 2 was when I was doing 2 person leagues with my partner last weekend. We were down by like 7 points with a minute left. My partner and I died clearing out the other team with one of our teammates, while the other was respawning. The other team was wiped, and there was enough ink for them to just grab the Rainmaker and get us the lead.

Instead, they popped it, and hid behind the wall of boxes. And waited for all of us to respawn and join them for a push.

You'll be shocked to learn the enemy respawned and wiped us. I really wish we could still C'mon! because I was freaking out mad over that haha.

That's why I do so well in it. Don't need teammates when I have a rocket launcher.
I'm a surgeon with the Rainmaker. And my partner and I can do the heavy lifting ourselves. But dear god, we would have won so many more matches if just ONE of our teammates would understand what the fuck we are trying to do.
