They really blocked it didn't they?
I'm sorry Malaysians, I tried really hard to like the country, but FUCK THIS so hard. FUCKING c*&#*.
To be fair, the people voted for BN. They want this.Hate the government, not the people.
So very confused by this.
In the end money speaks louder.
so what now?
I have to use a VPN to play my games. For Christ's sakes.
Yeah, now I'm afraid to restart my PC/router lol. Just got new 1080ti's and I want to buy some games.
But I guess you could just use Google DNS? I'm seeing some people say that works...no need to use any VPNs.
That makes no sense whatsoever. Why would they remove the game instead of just geographically blocking it from Malaysia only?In the end money speaks louder.
lmao sorry I just find it hilarious that OP is having trouble connecting to Steam and his first assumption is his government is responsible.
Is free democracy really in that much strife in the Asian Isles? I know Duterte is a massive cunt in the Philippines but jesus.
I never voted for BN thoTo be fair, the people voted for BN. They want this.

Earlier today, it was reported that the MCMC has contacted Valve and requested that Fight of Gods be geoblocked for Malaysians within the next 24 hours, or risk further action being taken
Wait, something like one silly game causes a government to shut down a whole service that is critical to a whole industry? How is that justifiable? What will happen even if people play that game? Try to overthrow the government? Seems like a petty move if you ask me.
Which is what the Malaysian government want:
Now i wonder why don't steam remove that game from that local store.
My router's got Google DNS settings, and I'm affected. Do I have to add them to Windows Internet Config as well?
It's worth a try. I don't use it cause it makes my connection turn to shit, but Unifi users might have better luck.
Hate the government, not the people.
Why don't they just remove it from the Malaysian store page if local laws don't permit the game? I can't buy Typing of the Dead on Steam from Germany for example.

Knowing our government, I'm guessing they just screwed up the request form / communication to Valve due to poor English. They should just remove the game from the Malaysian store. This happens all the time in Australia and Germany.
Screwed up the request form? They probably don't know you can do it in the first placeKnowing our government, I'm guessing they just screwed up the request form / communication to Valve due to poor English.
Or rather, a one day notification is too short for Steam Support. As self-deprecating as it sounds, the Malaysian market share is barely a blip on the radar so I wouldn't be surprised if the request was shuffled in a low priority list somewhere.
Hahaha this is incredible.
Fortunately this can be easily circumvented by using Google DNS
My router and my Windows internet connection settings both have Google DNS, but I still can't acess Steam. It seems to only work for some people.
(Honestly going to bed now. )

Couldn't the Malaysian government just ask Steam to block sales of that single game in that country? Like how it happens with some games blocked in Germany/Australia?
Did they have to block an entire service?
Someone seriously named their product, Proton??
