Golf Story |OT| Return to Camelot

Where can you find the other pro clubs? Right now I've only got the pro drivers but I've looked all around and I can't find the other sets. Up to the snow area, do I need to progress further?

How do I get all the match play cards to get into the pro tournament?

I played the two matches in Blue Moon. Is there something I am missing?

Depends on which course you're missing your match play card for. If I had to guess, you'd probably have to go through Tidy Park still, or maybe the Cheekybeak Peak match (go to Lorraine's office for that one)

I beat the second world and this game finally clicked for me. I still don't like putting but otherwise, the game is now much more fun than it was initially when I felt like I didn't understand how to play. However, I still have no idea how to play disc golf and it seems I need to in order to advance the game.

Disc golf tips are in the OP.

Not actually that important
I'm a bit puzzled. Waiting for the patch before buying this and the only thing giving me cold feet is people reporting how easy it is. Then I read a bunch of posts complaining about the opposite!
I know there being no challenge whatsoever would have a big impact on my enjoyment of the game, it always does (and is the reason Canvas Curse is the only Kirby game I've really loved).
I'm quite insecure now... any more advice?

It's pretty easy for a good deal of the game, but the back third has a steep and kind of unexpected difficulty curve. I'm really on the fence as to whether or not I'm willing the finish the last course, since it's really unforgiving so far. Don't let that hold you back, though: The game is really fun to play even when it's easy. There's a good variety in how you're asked to solve certain golf sections, and now and then they mix up the mechanics with alternate versions of golf and a few non-golf activities (like
a stealth sequence, a top-down car race, and several "get to the places really fast!" spots
).

Oh, and Galf Nights is unexpectedly hard if you want a real challenge. Once you unlock it, you will likely be punished. I think I managed to get through it at around 40 over par.

is the Tiny glitch in Tidy park just at the mingling party when you first get there?

seems like a weird place to save and quit or whatever people are doing to trigger the glitch, it takes like a minute to do that part before you are back outside.

There's a longer segment that takes place inside the clubhouse later on that I think the glitch mostly applies to.

Basically...before the patch, don't commit to talking to the guy outside the club once you have everything you need to join unless you know you've got a decent amount of time to play.

I finished the last tournament yesterday. I never found the
car race though
. Where is it and can I still do it now?

Don't worry there is challenge and it's fair.

It's pretty easy for a good deal of the game, but the back third has a steep and kind of unexpected difficulty curve.
The final third of the game requires much better club selection and control of the ball (due to wind, high green slopes and lots of water). Once you've masteted those then it's no more difficult than the rest IMHO.

It's far right in the area where you have to
unfreeze
people.

Press + and choose gear menu. Then select.

Or use the d-pad buttons whilst walking around to cycle through your different types of clubs.
It's not there. I mean the one where you have to press 4 times, mass A a bumch of times and then hit accurately. That's not a seperate driver, is it? Did I forget to buy it somewhere?

I am not sure if this has been mentioned but when the game released it was mentioned as a bug quite frequently:

When playing a round, after you adjust the shot the screen may get stuck in weird angle and not centered with the player. This is caused by moving the camera while adjusting the shot in the target.

So the solution to this is recenter manually with the right analog stick while adjusting the next shot.

The main issue I have with this game is it truly is Golf Story. How about some more freaking tournaments? I feel like I run around for 2 hours to finally play a course, and when I finally get to play the nine holes, it means nothing. The Wellworn Tourment was pretty much the only round of golf with any sort of meaning or tournament golf feel.

p.s. I am roughly 8 hours in.

Sooo i just got stuck between the bed and the little table next to it, how often does this game save? I'm scared that if i reset it i'll lose a bunch of progress :/

Apparently it saves when entering a new area so you should be ok. I got stuck between two trees once and reset and didn't lose anything

You can't actually use that exact system again (pressing 4 times thing) but after doing that challenge you can then use the power shot in 9 hole rounds by pressing up or down on the d-pad. Only works during 9-hole rounds like tourneys and matches.

Has there been any word on any kind of OST release? I love the music in this game, but all I can find is a small handful of tracks on Youtube. The match music in Tidy Park makes me want to start playing real golf again.

Ran into the Galf soft crash last night. Didn't lose any progress, but still a bummer that it happened. Game is still a lot of fun, but the longer I play it, the more bugs I notice!

how do you even tolerate Galf. I do not like it one bit. I played
Seasons and Night Galf too
but ugh. Just not for me. I think it amazing they thought to include that in the game. However, how come they could make the Galf putting more complex than the regular game hmm?

I wasn't even able to play it since my first shot went OB and then the game just sat there. LOL I absolutely loved reading
that snarky game manual
though! :)

It was Tidy Park. I found the list in options.

Thanks!

Ask the composer: Joel Steudler http://joelsteudler.com

Just finished, Total Playtime 15:30 with everything complete but GALF. Looking forward to a follow-up.
Wait... you can complete GALF?

I'm level 8 and didn't upgrade power. Now I seems I can't progress the story because I need to do that quest to get the bracelet but the hole is too far away. Oh well, time to grind on the pro shop I guess.

Anybody noticed any Switch OS irregularity since installing Golf Story??

I have trouble waking the game from extended periods of sleep sometimes. I have to force reboot the Switch. Also when the game is sleeping there are times when the News Channels don’t load and again I have to force reboot the Switch.

Anybody else had these problems over the last couple of weeks?

Not sure, I assumed you could since the save file appears to have an icon for it. (I could be totally wrong though)

Edit: Realized I needed to talk to the girl to give the extra GALF cartridges. In turn she gives you the manuals. Now all three manuals appear on my save file.

I found Galf pretty fun, you have to rely on hitting left or right of the final ball marker to fight wind and the rigid shooting directions, and have the manual open to the different club drives so you know which one to use.

I do think it's a tad ironic that Galf's green is easier to read and more intuitive than the actual in-game green. And that it's easy to softlock the game while playing Galf.

I've been playing the game for the last couple of days and can't say that i've had any of the problems you've mentioned.

Is the game installed on a SD card? Did you tried removing it to see if the Switch still acting awkwardly?

No. I've only noticed OS related issues with Sonic Mania, and those are well documented (where's my patch Sega?!)

protip: Just avoid going for the green period in later tournies. The absolute best bet is to go for a short range chip in since hitting the pole is super lenient. I have a -10 scorecard on Blue Moons using this method

Huh. I guess I just needed to replay until I was more comfortable with the course. Suddenly learning about the dpad up/down power strike (wasn't there a thread this week about going through a game without using an entire mechanic?) helped some, and I just got the final course at six under par! Damn, that's a rewarding feeling.

...what? I only earned seventy-five dollars and fifty cents for winning a pro tournament??

That said, eventually it seems like you end up accruing money without anything to actually spend it on for a long stretch.

That said, I'm totally ready for Cricket Story. I hear it's up next!

edit: Two more things: I totally missed that the world map was
Australia
until that final zoomout. Makes sense given the devs. Also, one thing this game does that I really wish Breath of the Wild did was
the aftergame stuff, where the world exists after you win and people recognize that fact -- it was sweet to see Max Yards finally admitting that he was wrong about me
.

Yes, this is actually only complaint about the game.

My Switch was running Golf Story for a week, no other games were run and I used the eShop and friends list regularly. Barring one game restart (GALF OOB bug). No issues with responsiveness of OS during that time.

Yes, that was a really nice surprise!

It was the opposite for me. By the last third of the game I was regularly getting albatrosses and eagles, and never came close to losing any tournaments or match plays. As in, minimum 8 strokes or more ahead of 2nd place, every time. I definitely took my time and made each shot count, but still, way too easy.

Fuck Max Yards fuck that dude. I have never disliked a character I knew so little about. Between him and the two announcers they definitely succeeded in creating a good satire of golf culture.

I honestly can't wait for Golf story 2 the search for more range balls

Is the rumble horrible for other people here? My controllers make tinging noises constantly. Had to turn it off.

Oddly enough, went to play Volgarr after, and the rumble was messed up for that after playing Golf Story. My controllers were beeping when the rumble was activating. Had to reset the Switch to fix the issue.

I'm at the last tournament and set it aside for now. The lack of "retry" options, means I'm having to quit the whole game wait for the beginning, load etc everything I made a tiny mistake (which ruins your chances or winning) which is too frustrating. Will come back to finish it when a QOL update arrives.

Loved most of the game though, really funny writing and hear-warming settings.

You could hit + then select "To World Map". That deposits you back outside your house, so you have to walk back to the course, so it's arguably not a better option than savescumming (which I had to do several dozen times before that final course clicked for me!). I came really close to where you are now in terms of frustration.

Does getting an OOB in Galf automatically lock the game up? Like, the ball goes OOB, but there's no indicator or anything and you can't do anything in Galf, can't quit out of Galf, but can still.... read the manual. Lol.

Happened three times so far, on both Galf Seasons and Galf Nights. Weird.
