3.

Besides Bloodborn...I mean Demon's Souls I didn't care much for it.

For me it is a pretty steady decline, overall it is PS1>PS2>PS3>PS4, but when considering the competitor consoles and the hardware itself, PS3 and PS4 switch places, because unlike PS3, PS4 is a competently designed hardware that stands strong against its direct competitor.

The PS2 era was the most disappointing for me. It didn't click with me at all. Outside a few knockout games, the whole generation was a massive turd. I have never played so little as I did then and used the ps2 mainly as a dvd-player.

PS vita, the thing just had like no exclusives, and really nothing going for it, pretty much ended Sonys handheld market.

It had plenty going for it. What killed the Vita was Sony themselves. More specifically, corporate spite against handheld consoles coming from SCEA.

I feel bad for people who didnt like the ps2 or ps3, PS2 had some really good games like sly cooper, jak and dexter, ratchet and clank, Silent hill 2, Res evil 4, dragon quest 8, megaman collection, megaman x collection, shadow of the colossus, god of war, gta3, okami, devil may cry, kingdom hearts 1+2, Beyond good and evil, if you think those games are not good or worth it, sorry but you just got poor taste in games.

PS3 had free online play, so I spent a lot of time with demons souls, dark souls, dark souls 2, COD2, black ops, bioshock, bioshock infinite, dead space 1+2, Fear 1+2, kingdoms of amalur reckoning, Ni no kuni, dragons dogma and Last of Us. The PS store also had a lot of good downloadable games, and rare ps1 games you could get. The consoles aren't bad, its just your taste in gaming might be questionable.

Why don't you climb off your high horse and stop judging peoples tastes in games just because they had a bad experience with said consoles (or generation).

PS3 did not launch well. (understatement of the year).
I forgive them though since they still managed to bring so many games I love.

For the xbox one fans, where the launch did not go that well. I feel your pain. Sony really reamed me at the ps3 launch.
As long as we are all gamers and love games (and fucking hate Activision) we have common ground.

PS3. Compared to the Xbox 360, it was laughably behind when it came to online gaming features and it took Sony ages to basically slowly copy as many of Microsoft's ideas as they could, but even then, they were still missing key features like party chat. You had forced installs that could take ages, and giant patches compared to the ones on the 360. Also, despite it being more powerful (and more expensive), the 360 often got the better version of a game, and some of that came down to the PS3's wacky architecture. It had some solid exclusives, but all of the consoles of that generation did IMO.

To me the PS4 was them getting back on track. It was more powerful than the Xbox, but not more expensive. It had the better versions of almost all cross-platform games. It had the online features people expect out of the gate (or they were added quite quickly). It still has solid exclusives coming out fairly regularly. Games install faster than they do on the Xbox. Patch size-wise, it's no worse than the Xbox. In terms of negatives, there was a switch to paid online, but a lot of people were paying for PS+ on the PS3 anyway for the included games and I don't see that as some kind of major expensive nor negative. There's no free BC and the Xbox has obviously done a MUCH better job in that respect, but then I don't really see what they could have done about that as emulating the PS3 on PS4 hardware is likely nigh on impossible. I fully expect the PS5 to play all PS4 games.

The PS1 and PS2 were both great consoles that stacked up well against the competition and they both had a ton of great games.

3 for me, it was light years behind Xbox, and I honestly didn’t see them even catching up with 4, never mind being in the position they are in now.

I would have to say the best would be 1 for me however. 2, while amazing, just never hit that peak for me personally.

I wasn’t around for the PS1, but for me it’s been a constant increase in quality over the generations. The PS2 was great, but I didn’t really like it all that much when it comes to Sony 1st Party games. The PS3 was, apart from a pretty rocky launch, a really great console as well. Sony upped their 1st party output with Uncharted, inFamous, Resistance etc. Online was free, PS+ was awesome and we got arguably the best Sony game of all time with TLoU.
PS4 has been my favorite console yet, because the overall quality of the games has been incredibly high (IMO!). We had Uncharted 4, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Nioh, God of War and many more. I’m at a point today where I can pretty safely assume a Sony published game to be at least pretty good with a chance of being really great. And for that reason I give a slight edge to the PS4 against its predecessors.
PS4>PS3>PS2

I guess for me it would go from the best it would be PS1,PS2,PS3, and then PS4. I think it mostly comes from the fact that I'm in to jrpg's.

All gens had their good and bad moments, I really can't point out one as worse than the others. What is really disappointing is Sony no longer making crazy bizarre TV ads like they did with the ps2/ps3, at least in the west. Japan still gets some wacky ones, but not as wild as they used to be (tearaway unfolded, gravity gaze 2, destiny 2, etc).

It had a lot bigger issues than that, nearly all of which were due to market conditions. Good product at the wrong time, simple as that.

Personally the PS3 ended up being the greatest generation to me. I loved the PS2 and PS1 but in the end it felt like the ps3 outshined it all. Yes BC wasn't pervasive but it still existed(I had the software BC version), it was also region free(I got to import games finally without worries), it had great internet(actually better than PS4), the UI was actually pretty intuitive despite how understandably basic it was, and more.

PS3>PS2>PS1>PS4

None have been disappointing to me personally, but I voted PS3 as that’s the gen where it wasn’t my main. 360 was as it got the best versions of multiplats and was where my friends mostly were playing online.

PS3 had killer exclusives though with the Uncharted games, TLOU, Infamous 1 and 2, Killzone 2 and 3, Journey and so on. So I still loved it and games a lot on it.

PS4 is killing it though. One of my all-time favorite consoles/libraries. I love cinematic, narrative-driven games so Sony has me on lock down.

Its only your fault for not playing or not liking the games I listed. You also are on your high horse judging consoles, cause they don't have games you like, so you also are being a hypocrite. PS2 had some of the best games of that gen, if you didnt like them, you only have yourself to blame.

You know, I have to say PS4 is the worst. The PS4 Naughty Dog games all look like fucking crap. I still can't get over how terrible Uncharted 4 is. It's basically Dragon's Lair.

For the PS3, at least Uncharted 2 was the best Uncharted game, and Demon's Souls cancels out Bloodborne, so yeah, it's probably stronger. When I look at good PS4 games, a lot of them are just remakes of PS3 games anyway.

Really, the current gen has been absolutely terrible. It's mostly just remakes of last gen games and sequels that are somehow worse than the previous game (SF5 was a step down from 4, Batman Arkham Knight was worse than Asylum or City, etc.) I really have to think hard to dredge up memories of any games I've liked besides From Soft ones.

Id say ps4, had the least fun with it but maybe thats because im too depressed to enjoy it.

Ps3 had such heavy hitter games like uncharted, god of war and mgs4 while ps4 was just that again but better graphics.

PS4s problem is a lot of games are taking a while to come out, Bloodborne, dark souls 3, and Res evil 7 right now is their best games. Last of us 2, kingdom hearts 3 and Res evil 2 remake, megaman 11, Beyond good and evil 2, dragon quest 11, and days gone, are coming out eventually

Theres no such option in the xbox poll? By definition you have a favourite and least favourite generation .. sure go ahead and get both polls wording changed so as to protect your feelings if you must.

This simply isn't true. I understand you want it to be true, and I understand why you think it would be a logical truth. But the wording of the poll makes it false.

I can't tell you whether I like chocolate chip cookies or mint chocolate chip ice cream better. They're just the same. Forcing me to pick one over the other results in inaccurate data. This is especially true since the poll is worded it as a disappointment. Thus if I ranked choc chip cookies first, the wording suggests that mint chocolate chip ice cream is a disappointment to me. That is utterly false. If the question was simply to rank them, that's fine. But this poll is worded in such a way to suggest disappointment and therefore breaks the poll.

It's not about hurt feelings, and even suggesting that makes you sound like a child, it's about well worded polls that allow logical and appropriate answers. Just because something is lowest on a ranking does not mean it is a disappointment. However, this poll would suggest the lowest-ranked item is the biggest disappointment.

87 million isn't a failure.

And there isn't one. They're all successful.
Well depends how you look at it. In the 6th gen they had a 6:1 lead to Xbox, and that became a tie in the 7th gen. Successful if you look at it alone, but when you see the context, it wasn't really that "successful". The Playstation division lost a lot of money in that era, and they were heavily leaking from like 2006-2010, bare breaking even in the final years.

Ps4 is great. I don't play games online on console so there's that. Leaves only the singleplayer exclusives, which is the only reason I bought mine. Was worth it.

Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Horizon, God of War, Gravity Rush 2, infamous second son, Drive club and then there's Spider-Man and The Last of Us 2 to look forward to.

I have a PC for the multiplatform games, so yes, I have been very happy with my Ps4 so far.

PS1 was superb, but I was all about the Saturn back then.
PS2 was insane.
PS3 was mediocre.
PS4 is pretty damn good again.

So PS2 > PS1 > PS4 > PS3

Yeah, I was kinda in the same boat. I had a 360 back in the day, no PS3. All my friends played Halo and the like and so did I. But.. After like 6 years I traded it in for a PS3 and I loved it so much more. Exclusives like Last of Us, Heavy Rain, Ni No Kuni, Uncharted series, Sly Cooper HD series. Awesome stuff and I still play PS3 games nowadays (next to PS4 and PC games); I'm gonna check out El Shaddai, Child of Eden, Rain (indie game), Puppeteer and the God of War HD series in the near future :)

My only problem nowadays? Too many games to play (so stressful haha!)

PS2 and PS3 was more the hardcore gamers, a lot of people I know who owned a xbox were casual gamers, played most fps games, or sports games; I looked at xbox and could only think of it as the bro console for jocks. The main reason I didnt get any xbox consoles was their lack of rpgs, and lack of capcom games, like RES evil 4, no megaman collections, or them not getting silent hill 3, and demon souls.

I don't know... If the Vita used SD cards instead of ultra expensive proprietary cards, a normal USB port (like the revision) and Sony made 8gb game cards (as they promised but never made them), it could have been a totally different story.

Azelover

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
PS2 was the best one, followed by PS1.

Then PS4, and PS3 was the most disappointing overall.. So, yeah..

I'm not old enough to remember the release of the PS1, but I loved that console when I got it. PS2 is just going to go down in history as one of the greatest consoles / generations of all time. PS3 was good (had the last of us and Uncharted, along with Motorstorm) but I wasn't a huge fan of it. PS4 was pretty amazing but, again, a bit disappointing. For me, it's a split between 3 and 4.

PS3 is a bad generation for me. Graphically not much impressive. Alot of rehashes of old franchise. Little pc ports. Slow digital downloads. Alot of FPS releases type of games.

PS4 by far. Sony is about pushing pretentious boring walking/ climbing sims and forced SJW propaganda.

Not to mention the god awful PSN store and slow UI that drives me insane. Aside from Bloodborne nearly every sony title over promised and under delivered.

The PS4 is my most disappointing PlayStation. But... That is because it is a sequel game platform. My first favorites came from the predecessors. Not saying the sequels aren't better either but the first kiss is the first kiss. Also, I think there are far better variety of fighting games on the PS1, PS2 and PS3 even if the single most superior fighter DBFZ is on the Ps4. I think the ps2 and PS3 are also better JRPG platforms.

I still think highly of the PS4 tho.

PS4 for me. It's been too top heavy with Blockbuster games and the lack of variety has stood out as a weakness. During the last gen we were getting plenty of risky minor games such as Spec Ops: The Line, Lollipop Chainsaw, Catherine, and Binary Domain, but there's been very little like that this time around. Excellent titles like Nier: Automata exist but seemingly 4/5ths of every big title has been an open-world, third person action game. Or sequels.

Of course there's been lots of indies but they come to nearly every platform (including PC where they're cheaper) so it's hard to factor them in to the argument. As well, Sony's emphasis on supporting smaller developers (a la TheChineseRoom and Giant Sparrow) has either tailed off or feels too weak for a company of its size. In a way, it feels like they knew they won the space race against Microsoft so gave up trying.

PS3, and I platinum'd Skyrim on it.

PS1 was solid, PS2 is legendary (up there with the SNES, IMO), PS4 itself is good (Although the Pro is a rush job compared to the X1X).

PS1 the best games with no hardware problems.
PS2 also good but has the worst hardware that loved getting disc read errors.
PS3 not as good but has backwards compatibility, also free online. Forced to install stuff to play games.
PS4 about the same as the PS3 but games take up way too much HDD space with games installs up to 50GB + patches, paid online, no backwards compatibility, controller has useless gimmicks. Cheap VR can be nice.

What a downgrade.

PS4.
Locking online modes behind paid service that has nothing to do with online modes is a scam. Sadly they got away with it.
