see this is where its dual standards, if Microsoft produced that video the amount of salty posts on here it would get would be unreal, as soon as Microsoft promote something or has a fun tweet they get criticised loads around here.
look at backwards compatibility thread and loads of people saying nobody wants it and yet COD MW2 charted last week, Microsoft enable crossplay and yet again a feature that a lot of people claim to not want.
PR is PR from both sides, now that Sony advert was funny but if you look at how Microsoft where going to share games then that would of been cool to, if I remember right it was gonna be about 4 copys you could share digitally and still play it on your own console. I know DRM crap wasn't good though

I agree. I game on Xbox One, PS4 and Switch myself and I can't really be bothered about which is better because I like all three. I just find it bizarre how cult-like PS4 fanboys are. They'll be the first to squeal like stuck pigs if you say anything negative about PS4 or Sony, but they can't miss an opportunity to slag off Xbox. I'm pretty sure if Sony sent them a shit in a plastic bag with instructions reading "put in mouth", they'd still find a way to defend it and try to explain why this makes PS4 better than Xbox.

It's kinda sad, because Sony has made a lot of missteps with PS4 this gen. They're not nearly as "for the players" as originally advertised, but we can't begin to address that until the fanboys take their Ritalin and stop defending every anti-consumer move that Sony makes.

There's nothing wrong with owning only one console. Everyone has their preferences and not every platform will appeal to to everyone.

The difference is how some people behave when it comes to discussions regarding platforms they don't own. People feel the need to justify their purchase by shitting on anything they perceive as competition. It's childish, petty, and quite frankly pathetic.

The sooner those people wake up and realize how stupid and pointless console wars are, the more fun it becomes to discuss a hobby we all share regardless of the platforms we choose to play on.

You've got some, but the problem is that most of them have been remade and some of them are BC with the XB1.

So outside of weird people like me wanting a mini version of every console simply out of nostalgia, I don't know how big the market would be.

Unless of course they exclusively incorporate achievements or some version of the original XBL. I can that enticing some people but those are longshots I don't see happening.

Plus the 6th generation has a huge gap in terms of emulation versus the 5th gen (heck PCSX2 isn't even perfect yet). So I really doubt we'll see a PS2/Xbox/GC classic systems anytime soon, and that's the generation where Microsoft's console legacy started.

If there was a way to play all PS1 games on the PS4 less people would be interested in this device for the sake of nostalgia. With no BC Sony can offer only 20 games and people will still be all over it. I know that it's possible to play (selected) PS1 games on the PS3, but most people use only PS4 now.

To be honest, I don't really consider the sixth generation as nostalgic and retro yet, I guess unless it's very early 2000s (namely for KH, FFX, and Dreamcast games).

I wouldn’t say it's badly worded, anyone with sense know that the actual game isn’t free(physical, digital) but the ability to play them requires no additional purchase/hardware if you already own the game and obviously have the console, also this came from the UK twitter account, as for the bold part do you really need to ask why?

I think their wording should have been better. However I can see the value of a slim and captivating comunication. It should have been more like "Free*" or at least "your already owned games for free".
I mean, something that enlights the fact that you have to own your old game copy.

I'm a PS4 guy with almost no interest in BC, but MS definitely gets the point here. Picking whatever game you'd like to play (with better rez and performance) from a huge catalog is a much better option than paying $100 for a console that will play 20 old games in their original state, maybe 2 or 3 of which you'll want to play. That's an easy call.

It's one of the things Xbox guys are justifiably proud of. It gets a little tiring, hearing it touted over and over, but they need something to boast about (besides the X).

To play the game, you need the disc which you will have previously purchased in one way or another.

Therefore, it’s not free.

It's obvious that the "free" refers to BC. There's no need to pay for any subscription or purchase any additional hardware to play old games.

But if you think that makes it "not free", then remember you'll also need a TV, electricity, a home to play it in, etc. I guess they would need to spell it all out in their tweet, right? Haha.
