Quick google search says: Not even warned.I take it Pat got permed for that?
If he did, i might just have another example to someone not importante.
Well, ERA redeemed then.Quick google search says: Not even warned.
What does that matter, he can't wear a hat without being denied education?
The latest pewdiepie nazi is another typical era one. PDP shouted out some channel's anime review, and it turns out that guy's 2nd channel has some pretty overt anti-semitic stuff. PDP then edited the video to remove that shout out, but of course the only reasonable explanation is that he's secretly a nazi and wants to send kids to watch anti-semitic propaganda. The video PDP mentioned in particular has a clip of a car from Charlottesville ramming somebody, and from what I gather this guy was said to be a neo-nazi. I totally buy that anime review guy is an anti-semite, however, guess what, most people who don't live this shit won't recognize that one piece of footage, it's not 9/11 or the JFK assassination.
We were never allowed to wear hats in class in high school. There is an expectation of basic common courtesy towards the teacher and the rest of the class. This guy is just being a dick to be a dick.
I think it's what the kids call being an "edgelord" these days.
What is SBFP?

One of the things that irks me about this stuff is the fact that many Americans behave like the entire world needs to know the ins and outs of their situations.
I know obviously we have many Americans here but on ResetEra it's like if you don't understand their localized issues then you are risking a ban even for that.
I think it can be a big deal on a site where you can't even really be like "I'm not from the USA so I really don't give a fuck about Trump".
It's the same with PewDiePie there. How was he supposed to know that the video he recommends was made by a guy who has a SECOND channel and that second channel is pretty full on racist etc AND the video has a clip from some event that happened in the USA over a year ago? It's just an unrealistic standard.
They kind of freaked out the same way with the guy who developed Kingdom Come: Deliverance and they are doing the same with CD Projekt Red where if devs in Eastern Europe aren't exactly in line with American sensibilities or up to speed on what's happening in the USA then they will be attacked.
Wasn't there big drama a while back when some French developer had committed the terrible sin of having an opinion on Gamergate?
Same here, i forgot.. :OTerribly sorry it took so long, was late here in Australia
That is indeed the gist of my point. It seems the only failproof way of commenting is not by presenting an actual point across, but just rather chat-like messages with zero depth. Only when someone opposes this, you get people to write long diatribes on how they are wrong. The conclusions that someone with an opposing view makes are wrong, therefore, his entire character is wrong. So I think the big main points from your discussion is that ERA is an echo chamber due to The Names pushing such an image across, and I would agree with that. I've found myself discarding long-winded, well-thought out posts more often due to the fact I know either it will be dismissed with a "lol ok" or potentially banned because I have a differing opinion to those running the site.
Can you elaborate on the bolded? It is a shame and is basically repeating itself from the days before GAF blew up. Personally for me I don't like closing my eyes, but why I commented about the behaviour and actions of those here in this thread isn't that we shouldn't shut up, but that it all just seems to petty and "ex-girlfriend" that it somewhat removes the ability to speak properly.
Its not all of GAF who does this, and this is a argument that constantly gets made. Some individuals do this, yes, but you should address them there. Also, REE is not mutually exclusive to ResetERA: Its in this sense a nifty tongue-in-cheek kind of humor since the origin meme of it fits a lot of threads of ERA.I can definitely understand having a laugh at stupidity, I do it all the time. However with names like "reeee" and with blatant disregard for content posted just to make fun of doesn't exactly show me that GAF is becoming mature.
Do you have any examples?I just believe critical thinking needs to be relevant and thought out rather than "reeeee" responses or shitty one liners.
Yet soon after this place upgraded to GAF 2.0, somehow ERA has had to that too and they still don't have certain functionality. If it was whining, you wouldn't have more elaborate posts here.Should posters continue to post about stupid shit happening on ERA? Sure, I can't stop you and don't intend to. I just find it hard to participate in discussions of other sites because it always comes across as whigning (outside of posts like yours of course) because they have the shiny toys (more users/active threads) and we don't here which is what it comes across as.
Compared to what? Also, perhaps you can consider being a volunteer under Musky_Cheese ? He is working towards enhancing traffic here.Yeah the traffic is fucking dead here and Tyler can claim it's the best it has ever been or whatever but it clearly is not.
You do know that ''reeeing'' is limited to but a few threads, no? Again, do you have any examples? The face ex-GAFFers come here when ERA is down tells me a lot of shipwrecks want to come over here, but are still pondering whether to stay afloat on their wreck, or touch new homesoil. But "reeeeing" isn't exactly bringing that traffic or making for proper discussions and I feel that is actually hurting this site more than helping purely out of the idea of resources dictated here rather than elsewhere. Hell the only reason some threads are being bumped right now is BECAUSE ERA is down. That is super sad and hurts me to know that this site is basically a shell of itself.
I agree with you on literally everything about ERA, from the mods, NPCs talk, hate, doxxing, anti-white, etc... even the "GAF is much better now and it's not an alt right forum", but this thread is a fuckin' cesspool. It's cool that here people can actually talk, and not get immediately banned for everything, but I never expected so many replies about the wife. Which made me realize that, yeah, mods are cool here, the site is much better than ERA 2.0, but the community is still waaaaaay off. That thread gave me incel vibes.
Eras too full of sensitive snowflakes and mods that have no sense of nuance. At some point we've just got to ignore them and not bring them into the discussions here. I mean could you imagine this many posts about gamefaqs forum? No, it's trash so ignore.

Boy am I glad I chose joining here over there after reading all of this. 'Cause PHEW.
What is your avatar from? I love that artstyle.
The horror manga, Tomie! The character's name is Tomie Kawakami.
How is this adult? How is this a place conversation can flourish?
How do people act like this? Accept it?
And guess which poster got banned?
I have zero idea how sane adults can partake in that place!
I just can't believe literally being called "evil" for what I said, and then not a single person came to my defense, but rather people agreed, doubled down, and cheered at my being banished.
This is extremism.
All I can really do is hope to be visible and objective so that people can see the pattern and make the appropriate judgments for themselves.
Why do you keep going back to a place that calls you evil and cheers your banishment?
Because 80% of the old GAF community is there and I made a good amount of friend over the last decade.
By banning me from their forum they basically indirectly exiled me from a bunch of my social circles.
I'm tired of months of watching my friends have conversations and not getting to participate, or having to get on Discord and be like "Hey, tell X I said Y about Z." I'm not allowed to socialize with people I've known for the better part of my adult life or participate in a community that, in a small way, I helped to build, because a handful of people who disingenuously grasped "power" have a dishonest vendetta against anyone who doesn't blindly act the sycophant for them.
It feels like it's more than that with you. If it was just about socializing with your friends, you already have alternate means of communicating with some of them (Discord etc.), and I'm sure you could find contact info for the others if you wanted. The last post I quoted in my previous reply seems to speak to a crusade against exposing RE's faults to the masses there.
I won't speak to the friends you've made there, but the politically minded folks have clearly spoken and are not welcoming of your style of posting (which is reasonable, well thought-out posts). Trying to change their minds is an exercise in futility, and continually coming back through alts does not seem to be helping. You seem like a genuine person, but you've been posting about RE wronging you for months now. At some point you've got to let them go, right?
I think with so many moderators, there will be at least some who enjoy precisely that. Not the melodramatic "ending them", but hurting people. A moderator position is a position of insignificant power, earned usually by only few hard skills that allows people to display superiority over others. It takes a very professional or calm mind to not run into abusive tendencies. It is in human nature that many enjoy the feeling of power over others, especially if they need to report to no one about their actions. Depending on what kind of person banned you, you might even bring joy to them by displaying that you are hurt by that.I want them to know that they can hurt people, really hurt them, and maybe even thoughtlessly contribute to almost...ending them
I don't know, his action was probably indecent going by the discription, but it was also such a small thing, it's a bit sad that couldn't just tell him that she considers it disrespectful. He would probably be pretty embarrassed and not do it again. Involving HR over such aminor thing seem a bit much. Though then again, if she really is that attractive she probably had her good share of such encounters and has no patience left for it.The thread about the guy maybe loosing his job over checking out a girl is golden.

I only read the thread title and though "Boy, you said that in the wrong neighborhood..."
Wonder how interaction between men and women would be if those loonys had their way. Prolly Tinder only...
It was just one time for the love of god. If someone keeps doing that shit you can start calling him out of it but for a one time gesture? Come on man, what is this?I don't know, his action was probably indecent going by the discription, but it was also such a small thing, it's a bit sad that couldn't just tell him that she considers it disrespectful. Honestly? It's been a really, really dark couple years and it's only going to get worse now before it gets better.
Sometimes the only thing I had at all to look forward to was getting on the computer/console in the evening and playing something with my GAF-then-ERA friends, and then that was gone. I can't follow everyone on 3 different instant messaging platforms and send the same messages out a half dozen different times trying to coordinate things only to find the lobby of whatever we're playing is already full because everybody else can just use the forum and they we all ready 10 minutes ago. People are like "you can still read the board, right?" but nobody remembers to invite the guy who's literally incapable of ever being around.
Like, I guess because we had an online disagreement in a place that touts itself for "acceptance" and "community" I don't deserve the benefits of some of my social circles or support groups.
I just want them to realize that. I want them to know that they can hurt people, really hurt them, and maybe even thoughtlessly contribute to almost...ending them - not trying to be too melodramatic - just because they didn't totally sort of instantly take their side and agree with them that one time in an internet discussion.
Well, only one time by that one dude, but if her attractiveness is something most would agree on, then she probably gets it numerous times a day. I could somehow understand her being annoyed by it (though I wouldn't really care, personally), but either way, going to HR over such a small thing is overkill. It was just one time for the love of god. I think it's totally fair to judge every person individually despite everything. I mean, how is a guy to know what offends a women and what isn't? So many factors play into this. Like how she feels on that specific day, how attractive she thinks you are etc. I daresay that most women actually dig such gestures if they're coming from a person she finds attractive.Well, only one time by that one dude, but if her attractiveness is something most would agree on, then she probably gets it numerous times a day. Other people enjoying it is no good reason to dismiss her experience. And while I agree that it is a minor thing, I was talking about how she might feel: Annoyed by it, because it keeps happening to her and she does not seek that kind of attention (from a majority of those people). Especially in this environment. I feel that such issues should be handled personally though, because it is really a minor offense and no one is really hurt in the process, going to HR about it is pretty harsh.I think it's totally fair to judge every person individually despite everything. Anecdotally: One time I was in a club and there was this nice girl dancing not far from me. She was extremely reminding me of the actress Neve Campbell. So I push my buddy, point him to her and ask if he agrees - and she saw that I was pointing him to her. We exchange quick smiles and guess what? A few minutes later she comes over and hits on me.
And yeah, of course, this was another situation but I wanted to use this to illustrate. Many girls like that, so there is absolutely no reason to be that sensitive about it. If he keeps doing it? Report harassment, it's only fair. But right away it's just stupid, no matter how good looking and used to it you are.
What kind of argument is that? Are we mindreaders or what? How can one know.Other people enjoying it is no good reason to dismiss her experience. If an action can be very offensive to a person and you do not know whether the person will find it offensive, and also do not have a good personal connection to the person, it is a good idea to not do it. I wouldn't have acted like her. As I said, I would prefer the personal confrontation (and then again, personally, I wouldn't care either way, but as a short male it is hard to relate to that, because it is not something that regularly happens to me, so I had no opportunity to get really annoyed of it) and would only go to HR in really serious cases. What kind of argument is that? Also, it's very easy to tell another person if you like something like that or not. You don't even have to say anything. One glance is usually enough. If he still doesn't get it, report him. But at least give him a chance.
Well, almost anything you do to show another person you find him/her attractive someone out there may/will find offensive. So yeah, you good luck communicating (or well, lack thereof) with the other sex with your way of thinking. If an action can be very offensive to a person and you do not know whether the person will find it offensive, and also do not have a good personal connection to the person, it is a good idea to not do it. He was not communicating wwith her at all, he was communicating about her and specifically about her looks. There is a large array of more respectful ways of making her know that you find her attractive. And then again, doing it during work time is still something that is additionally problematic *. Naturally, your leeway is much larger if she also finds you attractive, but the "10" talk (which is disrespectful on its own) indicates a significant discrepancy in attractiveness between the pointer and the pointee, so it's not that hard to guess for the pointer that his behaviour may not be appreciated.Well, almost anything you do to show another person you find him/her attractive someone out there may/will find offensive. Well, to begin with I wouldn't even consider this stuff sexual harassment. A slap on the butt or straight out saying to the girl "You got nice boobs babe.", that is another story. But bumping your friend and saying "check out this girl?" Gimme a break.Oh so because he only sexually harassed her "one time" that makes it no big deal in your mind? Only if he REPEATEDLY sexually harasses her is when you start caring? Are you serious?
Doesn't seem to me the women in question knew about his history so what role does this play here? Also if your point is moot anyway regardless. Go further into the thread and it comes to light that this is not the first time the coworker in question had done something like this to a female co-worker. The OP even admits that there are other incidents and accusations. That the other women in the office knew about him already. So it was NOT just a "one time" thing. The guy has a history of it.
