Microsoft's eighth generation home console, the Xbox One, has surpassed 40 million units sold worldwide, according to our estimates.

The Xbox One reached the milestone for the week ending November 17, 2018. The console sold 207,143 units to bring its lifetime sales to 40,020,713 units. There have also been 268,969,618 games sold for the Xbox One at retail as of November 3.

Breaking down the sales by region, the Xbox One has sold best in the US with 22,539,411 units sold (56%), compared to 10,877,912 units sold in Europe (27%) and 101,483 units sold in Japan (0.3%). Looking more closely at Europe, the console has sold an estimated 4,472,877 units in the UK, 1,311,467 units in Germany, and 1,554,968 units in France.

Looking at the software sales for the Xbox One: five games have sold more than five million units; 36 games have sold more than two million units; and 73 games have sold more than one million units.

Grand Theft Auto V is the top selling Xbox One game at retail with an estimated 8.31 million units. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has sold 7.32 million units and Call of Duty: WWII has sold 6.17 million units.

Halo 5: Guardians is the best-selling first-party game with sales of 4.89 million units, followed by Minecraft with sales of 4.79 million units. Forza Horizon 3 has sold 3.91 million units, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition has sold 3.61 million units and Halo: The Master Chief Collection has sold 3.44 million units.

It took a while for consumers to connect with the Xbox One. They had to switch up their gameplan. PlayStation at one point tried to tell the market what it wanted instead of listening to it. A brand can lose steam and momentum when they piss off their fan base.

Banned site again and innacurate.

I believe Halo 5 and FH3 sold more than these bad estimates...

I think the Xbox One will reach an estimate lifetime sales of 45-46 million until Xbox Scarlet/ Anaconda or whatever it is called arrived

I hate to dig up posts older then the split, but this is what Frankie has to say about Halo 5 sales.
It was ~5M at 3 months.

I don’t know why VGChartz isn’t still a banned site around here. Their numbers are pulled from their ass.

I know it used to be banned because they were discredited so many times.

VG chart? Yawn. Actual Numbers way more. Only Sony fanboys think otherwise

Man the system was estimated at 39.1 million back in March by another analyst firm that Zhuge said was a bit higher than some others but in the ballpark. The reality is the system is no doubt around 45 million right now with November in the bag. Regardless of the detractors the Xbox One seems to have kept a stranglehold on that 2:1 ratio with the PS4 for the entire generation.

There's been a few threads on here since earlier in the year stating the same thing. Which I honestly don't feel like digging up, but they're they somewhere if you want to take a gander.

Again, there's been no real tangible source, just "estimates" so in reality nobody really knows when they passed 40M....especially vgchartz. Which I thought was banned on here in the first place? Lol.

Oh lord, VGChartz do you ever make me laugh lol..

Halo 5: Guardians is the best-selling first-party game with sales of 4.89 million units

The game sold 5 million in three months, fast forward 2 years an 11 months down the road

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has sold 3.44 million units

TMCC also sold over 5 million in a matter of months. Halo franchise LTD was 60 million a month before it came out, 6 months after this the franchise rose to 65 million. I don't think too many people were buying millions of legacy titles so...

45 million. LOL That means Xbone is selling at the same pace this year like PS4. Big no, man! Just BIG NO

I do remember reading numbers in the 30s (can't remember the exact number).

Aren't VGcharts usually off by a million or 2? They're not that bad, I think. It's not like the difference is 5-10 million though.

How do you figure? How is 9-10 million close to 17 million or so? You also have to factor in that Xbox One is trending up YoY (largely because of the Xbox One X) while PS4 is trending down, still leading in sales by far but trending down nonetheless.

Outside 2014, Xbone never reached 10 mil. yearly. 9 mil. was during 2015 and down onwards. PS4 outpace Xbone globally for more than 2 : 1 ratio for 2 years now.

Xbone is down outside US this year, not up. I'm pretty sure Zhuge would say the same.

I’d like to see the receipts. How much down are they? From where?

They are up in the US by a lot. So let’s see you offset it.

Xbox One hardware revenue saw a 96% increase, obviously the X is a massive factor in that but given unit numbers it's not the whole picture. Their unit volume has increased by 18-22% or so, and this is globally including the US.

I mentioned that about two months ago in some thread. Xbone was up till June or July in US for 40%. MS announced that Xbone is up 15% globally. LOGIC math is Xbone is down 25% outside US.

You couldn't ascertain that information unless you actually knew the market share of the US vs. the rest of the world so I'm not sure how you managed that ghetto math.

I know for revenue ( but revenue isn't profit ). I would see this volume increase in their reports.

That's not my math. Ask Welfare. But it is logical sense. He is member here. Also, since you mentioned Zhuge, he also agreed with Welfare on that point on other forum.

Up is still up. You said they were down. Plus I don’t see any links or evidence of them being down globally. You know since USA, Canada and Mexico are part of the globe.

Because VG doesn't track digital sales

All those numbers are from physical retail copy

Exclude VG data and there you have your digital reports

When outside US are down, then, they're down. Problem with that? You don't need link for that. It's simple math. Man, i'm glad that PS4 and Switch is destroying Xbone. That's good

If the US offsets the rest of the world to bring them into the positive that would be up, not down.

edit: oh now you've painted a clear picture

So they are down, but still up.

Up being a positive, and down being a negative right?

But they aren’t really up, up.

Just kinda up.

Is that the logic we are using now?

Anti-Xbox fanatics.
It's like fans are so involved they don't understand why monopoly's are bad for the consumer. When your favorite sports team wins and dominates, it doesn't effect you besides being a cheerleader. When a corporation dominates it begins to stab you in the back and give you much less for more money because they seem you as a sucker. So...cheer on!?!?

Like i said above : Down from 40 to 15 it positive, isn't it, LOL. But + is a + still

K but by your math if I sold 100k last year and sold 50 nationally and 50 internationally, that’s good.

If I sell 130k this year but sell 80k nationally and only 40k internationally that’s bad?

I sold more units and made more money. The offset of the customers gained vs lost makes the ratio look bigger, but I gained 30k at home and only lost 10k internationally, which gives me a plus 20k gain.

How is this bad?

If I gave you the option of 1 peso or 1 20 USD which are you taking?

Did you lose your international pull by taking the 20.00?
