Yeah, the movie sucked. And another poster basically expressed as much. Then there were all these indignant replies or people going "go on..." and I'm like...ok I know what the fucks are doing. They're baiting. They want this to become that conversation about representation and all I was trying to say is hey that's horseshit, you're allowed to have an opinion on the quality of the film without getting into this other debate about representation. I even specifically said I liked all the actresses in the movie and think they're funny, they were just in a shitty movie. Well take a month off for that...ugh, no, I'm good. It's almost funny to me if it weren't so incredibly stupid. But oh well.

I would say a big attraction of discussing movies online is the arguments and heated debates. I'd rather see two people argue and fight over a movie than see people tip-toe around the subject because they are scared the Eye of Sauron will catch them saying something inappropriate.

Problem is that they can't handle robust debate over there so there has to be a way to say not only are you wrong, but you are bad and you need to take a month off to think about how bad you are.

Well what sucks is it's not like the answer to the Era bullshit is to become a Trumper or MRA or some red pill nonsense like that. But feeling unfairly maligned for something I don't think I actually did or said does make me stop and question some shit. I came back here in May because it was becoming difficult to find interesting topics on their gaming forum (I don't have a hazmat suit good enough to survive in their off-topic forum). Even though they have a large active user count, the Gaming threads were either non-offensive circle jerks or fast-moving outrage threads over the controversy du jour. If you weren't into those threads, there wasn't much happening. The decline was noticeable.

They also banned a lot of the PC-centric posters during the EGS intro phase and one of the PC-friendly mods left, so all the PC settings threads disappeared and activity in the monthly PC OTs slowed.

I remember my breaking point was going into a Rage 2 thread to check a trailer out, but most of the discussion was bitching about the marketing not emphasizing that you could play as a female character. It shouldn't be that hard to talk about games on a "Gaming" forum.

I got a permanent ban from there because I said I didn't care about the dev's struggle with keeping a non toxic community because I enjoyed their game(Mordhau) enough and can separate the art from the artist, even though I think the whole thing was overblown. The ban also says I was known to ignore racism in other threads...the only other thread was when I talked about how I enjoyed the Cinemassacre youtube channel and didn't care about Mike Matei's supposedly racist comic. I said it didn't effect my enjoyment. I find it utterly insane that causes a permanent ban. That's how much of a nazi regime that place is

Yeah, they're definitely a little to friendly the gaming media over there and pretty quick to ban for finding fault with an article or video. I'm sure the devs are trying to reach an audience, but the media types probably stick around because it's one of the few places that takes them seriously.

As you can see in my examples and sources above, the infamous members of ResetEra (affectionately known as 'REEEEEEEEEEEEEE') are something straight out of a nature documentary. There is something so shocking, yet fascinating, about these weird individuals. One person (from a site known as NeoGAF) compared them to a 'train wreck'. "You want to look away, but you can't help but watch on with morbid curiosity," they say. A train wreck they are, indeed.

The thought process and functionality of the users at ResetEra are debated by hundreds. How do they survive in the real world? Do they even know what sexual intercourse is? It apllies to me too. Well I do have a job but not much of a social life, mental issues, white and straight. But I have passed the age to be outraged about everything. Also I dont experience such a huge collective madness here as at Era.
