Original Article

Getting down to brass tacks, a customer got into an altercation with the management of a Popeye's, racial slurs were used (probably) on both sides and the woman ends up with a broken knee and and several broken ribs. Assailant arrested on assault charges. The article's a bit of a mess. Refuses to use the assailant's race and doesn't present motive until towards the end of the article. Video below:

One word of advice when dealing with the public as a business owner if you have a unruly patron or someone just being an ass call the cops.
Never lay your hands on anybody and let the authorities handle it, don’t know who’s at fault but it doesn’t matter that dude doing the body slamming is screwed.

I hope those few moments of self-righteousness were worth it for the perp, because his life is essentially ruined now— all over an altercation with a woman who said some dumb shit.

Popeye’s is going to be sued and will likely settle. The perpetrator here will have a criminal record and just became employment Kryptonite for life for improperly handling himself in a customer-facing situation. Even if he *does* find work, he’ll paying money out of his paychecks either to the insurer for Popeye’s in subrogation or directly to the victim for damages for many years to come.

People just don’t get it: Words are words, but escalating response to violence means that you’ll be taking the L every fucking time.

Honestly, he would be better off just moving to another country after the jail time.

So how does this work really? I've got a bit of black in my background. It's only noticeable in my younger pics. So what percentage allows me to use the word? Do I have to look "black enough" to fit the stereotype, idea, or agenda?
Do I have to show a pic of my grandmother or what? Or do I get a slightly less violent bodyslam in this case so we don't damage any of my black dna?

I've waiting for an explanation on this for years. Hoping to get some insight. What's funny is dude that body slammed her looks very European there, slamming another European. Lmao America.

I wonder if fining people for racial slurs would help everyone yet. Deters the use of it, and because the law is on your side you're no longer left like you're the only dog in this fight against a slur used against your people.

That wouldn’t deter shit. First of all, almost certainly she was called cracker first. So who gets fined here? Both of them?

“That” word is not so special that it justifies physical violence. He is 100% at fault for what he did and it doesn’t matter how much of an asshole she was she didn’t deserve that kind of reaction. Cussed out? Yes. Banned from the premises? Absolutely. But any leaning toward her being responsible for his reaction needs to stop now.

I get where this idea is going, but fines don’t necessarily affect behavior. We can have the woman fined in this case, but again, the perpetrator escalated the situation by assaulting her, causing serious bodily injury.

Let’s say that we do start policing speech. What will be accepted as evidence? Will this encourage more people to start recording others without their knowledge or consent? Would said recordings be admissible in court? What of personal privacy?

Way too many questions and what ifs. People just need to have better filters and follow more civil protocols when insulted by others— such as asking the person to stop, asking the person to leave, or involving law enforcement if the harassment continues.

Letting words trigger you into becoming a violent animal is on you. Get some help or suffer the consequences for your violent actions if you cannot controls those urges and impulses.

That was a hell of a slam, gotdam. I'm the type of person where when I get in a fight (I know that was not a fight in the video), I hold back enough so that I don't truly harm a person. I'm not trying to put somebody in the hospital, gouge eyes, or break their fingers backwards at the joints. Anytime I've been in a fight, my attacks are more of the "Get the fuck outta my face and stop with your bullshit already!" variety. For me to body slam a person like that dude did? It would have to be a situation where someone seriously physically harmed my daughter or stabbed me with a knife lol...that's just excessive what he did. And all over words. I get it, I've been called the n-word a lot, starting back in 4th grade (the exact moment my mom moved us out of the south side of Chicago and into the northwest suburbs of Illinois...go figure). I've personally learned to view racists as fearful cowards so I never give them the pleasure of thinking a word is having whatever negative effect they are hoping it has on me. Gotta come up with something better than calling me the n-word. Like, that's not even creative or original.

God damn that was very hard to watch

Like yeah the lady is a piece of shit if she used that language but young men can't be body slamming anyone (let alone middle aged women) on concrete. That video is disturbing as fuck.

I'm sure resetera have a GoFundMe set up to pay the guys bail and have a statue erected in his honor

Six letters, rhymes with bigger, is basically a linguistic Tulpa.

If I have my supernatural myths correct, and I probably don’t, a Tulpa is a mental projection, imbued with life by intense belief in it. In essence, if a person, or people believed strongly enough that something existed, it would begin to actually exist.

I can’t imagine anything more accurate for this word, which basically amounts to a dumb archaic hick term, that speaks far more about its user than its target. Only by being terrified of it, do we give it this power.

Words in general only have the power that we give them. On both a social scale, and personal scale.
