You probably like the visual style better MGS PS2, I'm talking about the game engine itself. I can easily tell that the Twin Snakes has better textures and is cleaner due to improvements in the engine.
Exactly what I was going to say.MGS2 for the story but MGSV for the gameplay.
I definitely do prefer the visual style. I can’t comment on improvements on the engine because i havent played TTS since release and have only seen dolphin emulated runs since then. For those curious on the AC!D series:
(Acid2 is the better game. Quality of life improvements, the story doesn’t feel convoluted, and it has style.
Also should mention that Acid2 bombed, hard. This is unfortunate because we never got a third game, and Shinta Nojiri eventually left after helping the team meet their deadline for MGS4. Nojiri worked on both Acid games, was the director for Ghost Babel, and was the lead level designer for the Tanker mission in MGS2. The last game he worked on at Konami before leaving was CastleVania Harmony of Despair.
There was a mobile port of the first Acid, and I wish we had a true port to iOS devices and that both game were made available to download on PSN).
Not only that but why didn't MGS2 and 3 see a release on the Cube? Forget the portables, hell neither did the Wii or Wii U get any further instalments....isn't twin snakes the remake of meteal gear solid on ps1 that came out on the gamecube? How would the ps1 verion get more votes when the gamecube version was the same game but updated

Which has better graphics: Sons of Liberty or Twin Snakes?
Those of you technically inclined will likely have more informed posts. Screenshot comparisons: Tanker rain effects Heliport snow effects I feel as if Twin Snakes wasn't truly optimized for the GC console. It uses the same game engine but it doesn't...www.ignboards.com
From the screen shots I’d have to still say MGS2 looks better graphically, but again, Im going by photos. And people in that thread believe that the frame rate is smoother on MGS2. I think I’m going to pick up a physical copy of TTS, and see for myself. As of right now, I can’t see any advantage the gamecube remake has over the ps2 sequel, but that’s just me. I do think MGS2 looks better than MGS3 as well. Something about the sterile environment and running 60fps looks pleasing.
edit: Uploaded better comparison photo

When you’re referring to the inconsistent cutscenes, you’re still talking about graphics? Many of your pics have different capture methods.
I think this shows better that Twin Snakes (left) is generally cleaner with better shadows and lighting than MGS2. The modeling is also smoother which is to be expected since the PS2 known for its heavy aliasing in general.
The artstyle of TS however has a sleek flat gradient look though, so you may prefer that less than MGS2's artstyle which doesn't do that and almost does the opposite. I notice a few other GameCubes games have that kind of style, you can even find variations of that style in several Dreamcast games, especially arcade ports.
While TT has better texturing than MGS2 in many areas the artstyle can make that not seem obvious. if you look at say, the top of the shelves behind snake or the two frames around both glass windows, also behind snake, they seem like they are more flat and shaded than textured, where on MGS2 on the right, if you look at the window frame, or those bottom pillars, they aren't as clean or shades, but they seem like they have more texturing that's more in your face, while not having that sleek flat look.
You can also notice this some what with the floors. I can definitely see why someone wouldn't like the artstyle of TT. Although it's much better in motion. The cutscenes are inconsistent though, some are great and some are what?

Ah, so like the intro with the colonel in the submarine for example (before Snake’s appearance)Almost all the cutscenes are in-engine, some better than others.

No, because the only reason I’m asking is because the complaint you hear about the cutscenes is never that graphically they’re inconsistent but rather they’re bombastic. But you’re right, some TTS cutscenes do seem uglier than others. If you're talking about the intro to TS yes. But there are several cutscenes that look great in the game and some that look very rough like that picture of Otacon guy posted above, there are cutscenes where he looks better and the hair is more detailed.
To be fair this is also true for MGS2, but the gaps in quality are more random and larger in TS than in MGS2 where there are some cutscenes that aren't too good, but the good cutscenes aren't 300 miles better.
I went with the one I spent the most hours on, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Played it 200+ hours on the PSP and then another 100 between the PS3 port and the Vita digital version.
I when I criticised this exact face model on Era, some blind, dumb arse got defensive & tried to argue that these are the same models as MGS2.What are you talking about?
2 years after MGS2, and managed this.
RIGHT??OP is triggering me by putting the Xbox Version of the MGS2 cover art.
That TTS pic is from emulator with higher resolution. Many of your pics have different capture methods.

It’s cause that version of mgs2, substance, first came out on xbox.MGS 2.
RIGHT??
I was slowly scrolling down then saw that image and went:
Here OP, redeem yourself with the REAL MGS2.
That TTS pic is from emulator with higher resolution.
TTS doesn't have that kind of resolution on Gamecube.Uhhh no.

Site hosts direct captures. TTS looks much better than that on an Emulator because you can make more textures visible on those flat surfaces.
Disrespectful listing Metal Gear Rising as "other Metal Gear related game". lol
He was made to look androgynous. The “bicep bumbs” are probably his lateral triceps.MGS3 Subsistence wins.
I haven't played MGS V Phantom Pain though.
On a sidenote, people often tout MGS2 as the hallmark of PS2 graphics, visual style and character model realism.
Well, even though I did give Raiden a fair chance way back when MGS2 released, his character model has always looked absurd to me.
Shinkawa and Kojima can wave the MGS2 document and anatomy character studies all day long at me,
but no one can tell me Raiden's character model makes sense, anatomy-wise or in context of "realistic style".
Because, I finally bothered to download the Raiden character model, and as a character artist I must say the
proportions and even the way of poly modeling are so incredibly warped....it's asbsurd;
The gigantic wide hips, the tiny wasp waist, the overly anime styled face etc. (even the little biceps bulge to the side is nonsense)
I did a quick edit on the model to show how the original compares to what I think would be a more reasonable model, even in context of MGS2's stylized "realism" visuals.
