I think the thousands of PS1 AND PS2 games and those systems being more popular than PS3 would make them the bigger deal. Though PS4 is most important due to the transition and the fact that people still play games for it en masse

The Fury entrance and singing was worth it on it's own. After the he exploded Wilder's eardrum it was all over. Guy looked like he was on a different planet. Body shot was also devastating. I think Fury has him figured out. Wilder relies on his big shot and if that's taken away with Fury's long jab and violent clinch, there's nothing Wilder can do. I will say I liked his "Digital Sauron" costume. The conscious rap I could do without. Should have gone with an epic instrumental beat and a group of creeper poppers in masks like the Poreotics.

Hmm it definitely reads to me as if the PS5 engineer was taken aback and it will only be RDNA 1 in the PS5 despite what he said later on to try and "cover his tracks".

In any case Microsoft has created a very viable alternative to the PS5 so congratulations to them. The PS5 radio silence is annoying now even to me a massive PS4 fan (added with the lack of shows this last year and off hand comments regarding gamepass, refunds and cross play), they really need to come out swinging and soon. I left the 360 for the PS4 because of MS's attitude the second half of its life cycle, I've done it once and I'll do it again if I feel one company is better than another.

Naughty Dog are my favorite developers but with their newest game coming out on the PS4 it will likely be years before they release a game on the PS5. So yeah definitely going to be a carefully weighted decision over which console to get first... and that makes it very exciting .

I’ve spent more time than most explaining the SSD tech, the cpu and going differences and possible outcomes, as well as talk about actual hardware. I’ve flipped several times between one being better than the other, until with recent info that was both a) leaked and b) told you me, the cards fell where they are now.

I’m gonna be straight forward here. Sony fans are pissed because they feel they have been kept in the dark too long, and are not really understanding that this is business. It’s not about making you happy, it’s about making you happy in a way that generates the most revenue and biggest buzz. So sony fans are pissed because Ms beat them to the punch.

as for specs... this is an area won’t go massively into, but these specs are essentially what I said before, as had been told to me personally by friends in the industry. The same friends also talked ball park PS5 spec, and those are currently out there in different form. It’s more likely it will be high end 10, low end 11 in tf, with an SSD in the 5-6gb/sec range, rdna2, 16gb memory.

the problem is that both sides have had many multiple dev kits out, and Ms are far behind. Even today they STILL are with regard to getting dev kits out. The Specs talked about today are the same specs I’ve been discussing in closed circles and have spoken about also here.

The ps5 specs I’ve posted above are the same, as well, that’s with the latest dev kit which I’m told is now in final stage with no real big changes coming as it’s already over target spec. Want more? The thermals are also a bit out of whack, and thats one of the things being looked at.

No insider BS, no tags, no photos, paste bins etc. Just me and a bunch of developer friends chatting shit and gaming, as usual.

The ps5 spec with where they are and where they will be will put them close enough in terms of over all power that it won’t make any difference that the sx is high. That’s a bragging right.

I was saying that it has the biggest impact on visuals, not performance, but it's still interesting to hear. I've had a chance to mess around with RTX GI in Metro Exodus, but I don't have any games that have RTX AO to my knowledge. Do you know of any games I can test that in?

I need to get Control at some point, since it seems they have the most RTX features in a single package at this time. They do it with a relatively low performance impact, too. In other games I've tried you can see a 30-40% performance hit for just a single feature.

Metro has RT ambient occlusion. It's coupled with the GI. And RTX reflections don't make the biggest impact. AO and GI does. After that, RTX shadows, then the reflections. You can get away with a lot just using SSR instead of RTX reflections. I'd much rather dedicate the GPU time on the AO and GI.

Does MS software solution is 100% working on all games? If PS5 will have DVD reader inside and hardware based BC, then PS2 can be almost 100% compatible, PS4 included. I'm pretty sure PS5 won't have CD reader, so PS1 and some PS2 games are out of question and can be only emulated via software

Well it's good news for PC gamers too, because a new gen of consoles refreshes the base line, star citizen is the only game since crysis which has used PC hardware more effectively.
Plus having high hardware in $499 consoles is fantastic news compared to what we got last gen.

I don't quite understand your apprehension regarding next gen consoles. Typically, consoles will provide mid to high range PC performance at launch (and current gen CPUs were definitely on the lower end).

Next gen consoles have extremely high end GPUs with RDNA 2 (not even available on PC yet), SSDs faster than those on the market, and a whole slew of exciting new features (like VRS or unique RT implementations from the sounds of it), all the while with an actually respectable CPU and RAM.

This isn't a typical console upgrade, it's a very well balanced jump in every way. I agree that it isn't going to give us CGI graphics, but I think you're really underplaying the potential these machines have.

I would reckon a website like Bloomberg has enough integrity to verify those kind of things with their own sources. And being the kind of news outlet they are, have networking connections into this stuff forum posters like us could only dream of.

The best part? The completely wrong 1080 prediction from his "source" until Windows Central (aka, ppl with *actual* sources) revealed the specs early on and then suddenly.....a new nvidia GPU prediction appeared aka 1080ti.

Imaging being middle aged and involved in a completely different industry and still make up "sources" about an upcoming console launch to feel better about your platform of choice.

Another misunderstanding. The PC and the consoles all share the same hardware. There is nothing "custom" about them that makes developers not able to program to them. We are still trying to carry over age old paradigms that don't fit in today's tech space. The hardware is universal. What they can do to optimize the consoles can also be done to optimize the PC and vice-versa.

Bandwidth is the big limitation. There is no magic for getting around that.

In any case, I was talking about the ludicrous comparison of consoles (or PC GPUs) to CG quality when it's not even close to being true.
