I've watched it again for the fourth time, with Easy Allies, and this thing is INCREDIBLE. It's said to be around 35 hours long but I know for certain I'll take well over 70 hours to complete it. There are so many areas to search just in this small section of the gameplay.

Looked alot better than last years gameplay but still didn't look as dynamic as E32018.

Too many staged encounters which made it seem samey with TLOU 1.

Why can I only interact with bricks and bottles in the apocalypse? I mean why are they investing so much in fancy animation systems if they are just going to arbitrarily limit how the player uses them. But then that vent crawl animation... hmmm

I can definitely wait for a discount on this one.

You must have some extremely low expectations for next gen then. Especially after seeing the UE5 presentation.

35h? Way bigger than I expected.

That basically most sequels should do especially games that have only one game, do people expecting to completely change entire core game after one game?
We never said that, again, the issue is people blowing this out of proportion while it's nothing crazy. I didn't say "lol this looks like shit wtf", I'm just saying this looks basic and people calling this the game of the generation already is ridiculous.
If you're like "I loved TLOU1 so I'll try this one", it's fine, it's the exaggeration out of nowhere and for no reasons that I find bad.

This game seems very similar to the first one. Level design, combat all very similar. It's an evolutionary step over part one, not revolutionary like say God of War was. The graphics even look very similar to part 1 remastered. I'm honestly not very excited for this game and may pick it up down the line when it's half off. If it had multiplayer, now I would probably be buying it day 1 as I was a huge fan of part 1's.

Agree on the look and feel of the game but I am still hyped. Finished three games on my Pro, GOW, HZD and TLOU, this looks much more of the same, should be fun.

People can consider any game they personally like "game of generation" because they like it that much. I personally consider Nier Automata my personal "Game of generation" but I'm pretty sure most people disagree with me on that.

Also who cares!!? In here lots of people scream about RDR2 and Witcher 3 being "game of generation" which I personally didn't care neither of them, but hey their taste.

If only more people were this reasonable.

Will grab it when it drops to $20.
Don't really care for the story since this seems like it has a lot of identity politics wrapped up in it.
They got rid of a lot of the cool context sensitive stuff from the original demo. Makes sense they've been careful about showing gameplay, it was pretty clear that was staged.
Other than that it feels similar to TLOU1, which was a decent game, mostly carried by its characters and story.
The visuals are impressive, but there's prettier games out there. It's nice the TLOU fans get a new game, but nothing shown makes me want to get it day 1.

Well I agree with you for NieR Automata since it's my favorite game of the generation too.
But people haven't even played TLOU2 yet, so it's really just a mass hype and nothing more.
I'm just tired of people overreacting to everything just for the sake of being in the "hype".

Is that so wrong? I love being hype for a game I’m excited about, sure there is chance I might get disappointed but rather have that than just being skeptical about everything.

Generic is a very low grade term for games from current gen. Every game is generic... no matter the plataform.

Water looks like the usual shitty shader based water, terrible flat, for this gen assassin's creed origins and odyssey have the best water in gameplay! I hope with ps5 naughty dog finally will improve to decent fluid dynamics water (as seen in unreal engine demo a least!)

Nah, I'm not a "morally correct" fascist. They can make their game, I can be disappointed in it and not buy it. Credit where credit is due though, the graphics are out of this world. Just disappointed that it's wasted on their silly agendas.

As opposed to your silly agenda?

Jesus Wept 35-70 hours??? Is it open world or some shit? I don’t like the sound of this. Yet to watch the video.

35 fucking hours??? Where did this number come from? That seems a bit too much.

So much this! There’s so damn much cynicism, negativity and hostility in game forums. Annoying for a hobby that’s supposed to be about fun above all else.

There’s always a place for critical discourse of course, but for a hobby it would be a lot more enjoyable if more energy was spent on playing and discussing games people are enjoying/looking forward to and less on bashing things we don’t like or aren’t looking forward too IMO.

Just skimmed as I have seen more than enough to know its worth a play. But two things in it annoy the crap out of me. First everytime they show Ellie or Joel manipulating their Beretta 92 it looks SOOO fake and motions are weightless. Could they not find someone who owns a Beretta 92 to let them play with? And second its super unbelievable that Ellie with those little twig arms would last more than 5s in melee fight. Those to together might really bring down my enjoyment. If Ellie is suppose to be a badass....make her one. Dont give her Taylor Swifts body and show he beating up Floyd Maywether. I know its a game.... but when you make it look that good/real these normally minor imperfections are sticking in my eye.

Look at the posts on that other forum it’s off the charts I can’t stand posting there or even really reading it.

And I’m one of the people who believes that video game violence is going to need an updated discussion or at least people need to respect and understand the fact that it’s important to consider the impact these hyper violent realistic games will have on younger children.
No need for consideration in adult games for adults. Slippery slope bringing in think of the children argument.

Like what exactly? please do tell.
Contextual animations are the bread and butter of ND, show me those contextual animations missing.

Lol I saw some during the stream but it's just trolling

I usually am quick to nitpick things (like I notice a couple instances of rough textures in the Tsushima stream, game still looks great, just sayin) but honestly I don’t see anything that looks downgraded. The stream, especially in 4k, looks really solid.

Look at the posts on that other forum

Nah. I’m good.

Agreed in the sense that developers don’t need to consider it when designing their games.

But maybe the poster you quoted more meant that the more realistic games get parents, psychologists etc. will need to reconsider the impact they may have on kids, or at least be more nuanced than just looking at ratings etc.

It may be pretty different to let a younger kid play Fortnite or even a GTA than something with realistic graphics and very brutal and realistic gory deaths.

But, again, that’s not the developers responsibility and nd maybe we already have relevant studies on this type of thing with kids and movies as I’d think there would be a similar difference between say a R-rated action film with a high body count vs one of those gory horror movies with realistic torture death and so on.

Staged?

I search thoroughly so that 70 hours is an estimation. I do know it's said to be over 35 hours long though. Consider the open section in Uncharted with the Jeep and apply that to TLOU2. It's going to be HUGE.

35h for a game like this actually doesn't sound good. I think the previous game was a bit under 20h? Perfect length for tight story driven game, but that's just me.

Just watching it. Man the gameplay where Ellie is swimming through the factory, comes out and puts a knife to the girl listening to her vita. Fucking gameplay = cutscene. How?

Ps4 secret ssd in power brick confirmed.

Edit: I pray the gameplay is tuned to the wallhack vision OFF.

I think it was Blackwoods. I'm guessing in the latest video:

edit: timestamped it

I wouldn't get your hopes up. This guy oftentimes exaggerates things.
I would be very surprised if it was that long. I'd say 20-25 hours just to keep your expectations in check.

Anyways, this game is going to be fucking incredible.

On another note, anyone else glad Sony finally figured out this State of Play thing? It only took a year but they finally nailed it with this.
Next week if they reveal a new exclusive game for ps5, they should definitely go the route Naughty Dog did. Ghost's state of play was also good but this one was much better as we did get a lot more raw footage.

That got me hyped again, I don't see how it could not be better than the first one... and the first one is one of my favorite games of all time.

What got my interest:
  • New enemy tipes
  • The whole animation system
  • The more dynamic stealth system
  • It's TLoU 2
Those who just knock on it for the scenario when they have not seen exactly how it plays out--wait until you experience it yourself, otherwise you are just a part of the silo problem.

I wonder if they'll let you move the bodies this time around. MGS upped the standard for environmental interaction but I've always thought it silly that you couldn't at least move bodies off to the side in TLOU or hide it in the long grass. Combat wasn't a priority in Death Stranding but even that had advanced systems translated over from MGS.

There is no point to move the bodies when enemies have dogs that can track your scent.
