Joe Rogan's Podcast |OT|

I'm 20 minutes in. Jon can see problems but sounds out of touch at the same time.

He starts off talking about income inequality and who really is an essential worker that keeps things running, but then gets off-track on racism talk and bringing down confederate statues. Clearly not realizing its far more than confederate statues being torn down. Then he said something like "there has to be a process... I think of something like South Africa did..." and I had a full Reeeeeesetera worthy yikes when he said that.

I worry that like Chomsky, Jon lives in a plato's cave and trusts his favorite sects of legacy media and education institutions to tell him what's going on, making him completely unaware of shit like South Africa or the true nature of BLM.

Ew fuck no. I hate Jon. I may give a listen just to see what the liberal elite are spewing these days. Im sure he has all the answers tho.
Stewart is a reasonable dude. I don't think you should reflexively write him off like that. Don't censor yourself from opinions just because you don't like who it's coming from or because you don't agree with them. That's not in the spirit of the show.

Listening to present day Joe I sometimes think he would get hiss ass beat by twenty years ago Joe.

I timestamped but this was Joe 20 years ago on politically incorrect.

I forgot how much of a babe Kari Wuhrer was.

Duuuude I had the same kinda reaction when I heard that when watching. I said out loud... "in WHAT way of South Africa?!" Awful but whatever

I am friends with a couple of white families from south africa.
They moved to Germany because their home country has gone to shit, and they are scared to raise their kids there.

That tells me everything I need to know about south africa.

A friend of mine studied there and she said that there were many places where they simply wouldn't stop in intersections because of fear of getting car jacked / robbed, and she never went out after maybe 6 pm. This was Johannesburg though, which is the worst for this stuff I guess.

I think Jon Stewart has good intentions unlike some people who'd be called liberals. It was a fine conversation. Not the best, not the worst.

Some stuff I'm on board with that Stewart does. Advocacy for Iraq/Afghanistan veterans who were potentially exposed to toxins. On board. Advocating for 9/11 responders. On board.

There's a clip of him talking about retiring from TDS and he said that things had gotten to a point where he was burned out and just done. IDK sometimes when I listen to him nowadays it's kind of like he's hinting the viewer towards something but never wants to give the whole beans. He did something similar on a Stern interview where Stern asked him if he ever got in trouble with the White House and he was like "yeah they asked me to visit a few times" but it was not from the administration you would think of at first.

His whole conversation about visiting the White House is really weird.

I can't put my finger on it, but something has seemed "off" about Rogan recently. I don't know if the lockdown is getting to him or if living in California and wanting to leave is eating at him, but I think the last couple weeks has been the weakest sets of episodes he's had in years, and he's seemed off his game. Not as much enthusiasm, and waffling a lot more on topics than he usually does. And Joe is known for waffling to an extent, but he will always stand by his core beliefs. Joe has been waffling on the police issue especially, when I feel the Joe of old would have stood his ground on that particular issue, like he always does with diet, hunting, and trans athletes issue. But that combined with him being a little subdued makes me feel like something off with him. Maybe he's regretting the Spotify deal or something, I don't know.

Anyone else get the same feeling? Maybe it's just me.

I couldn't get through today's episode, hunting isn't my thing at all.

Personally I think the show has been mediocre this year. He gets a pass from me due to the rona, but even before then the guests weren’t as good. I know they can’t all be bangers and it’s still my most listened to podcast, I’m not hating here; I plan to stay subscribed and listening for a long time. But yeah... for me at least the show is different. Even before rona lockdowns and shit.
I think it started off strong early in the going and had some monster weeks, but overall I agree, well I think it's weaker than 2019 so far. Seems like less intellectuals this year. Hope he can get Sam Harris on soon and when Jordan Peterson is up to it.

Always redirecting conversations to the same talking points recently half of which are borderline retarded. Guy needs to take some time off for himself and worry less about how much taxes he's gona have to pay on his hundreds of millions...

That was fucking hilarious, I have a friend just like that.

Rogan’s 1500th episode is next. I don’t think he does anything special for “marker episodes” so I wouldn’t expect anything special, but even if he can’t get the big guests right now because they’re hesitant to come because of COVID, at least get a Tom Papa or Bert or whatever just to resettle things a bit and have an episode where everyone can laugh and talk shit.

I wonder if they’ll even do sober October in the fall. I love the podcast in the fall. Listening Sunday nights to relax after footballs over.

I thought the same. Part of it is the lock down I'm sure. Part of it might also be he wants to be interpreted as always wavering to the point where ppl give up on labeling him and instead focus on his guests opinions only.

I think his audience has become unbearable in the comments. And that part is definitely because of lock downs. The comments sections of every channel have turned to shit when in 2019 a CNN video would normally have a huge dislike number with comments calling them out. Now sees everyone has gone to their safe spaces where they all have the same opinions.

I think the drug use along with him getting older is getting to him. Go look at the Rogan video I posted from when he was politically incorrect twenty years ago. He was quick witted and responsive. Then watch him nowadays.

Bill Burr is the same age as him and still has that quick wit but has always said that drugs "just not his thing". Bill Burr is pretty much the same dude as he twenty years ago. Even if you don't agree with him Burr still has that "edge".

But you look at Rogan and it kind of boils down to if he's been sober a while or not.

Wednesday's guest is gonna be Barbara Freese apparently. No idea who that even is. Environmental attorney apparently.

And in 2 weeks, Peter Schiff is gonna be on. He's one of my all-time favorites guests so that should be good. I don't agree with him on a lot of things, but I always enjoy when he's on.

Hmm, maybe I don't watch it as regularly as some of you folks do (tend to pick the ones, where I am interested in the guests), but I didn't notice any drop off in his qualities as a talker.

Also I tend to watch old episodes along new ones, and even then I don't notice much of a difference.

He was a good guest, tears into and breaks down woke culture.

Again, still getting those vibes from Joe. Maybe I'm just so fixated on it now that I'm seeing things that aren't there, but he seemed very unresponsive in this one. Responded with a lot of snickers and hmmm's and wow's and barely said anything at all the whole 3 hours. James had to carry the entire pod, and I actually like it when the guests speak more, that's why they're there so we can hear from them, but Joe usually gets really fired up about topics like this and goes on multiple tangents and rants when topics like this come up, but today he seemed so out of it. Maybe he was just stoned.

Someone else watch it and tell me if you feel the same way about this episode.

I'd love to hear what Alex has to say about the state of the country right now. Holy shit

I've browsed what he's had to say about it off and on lately. He has some points about the meta commentary of the economic situation of Covid.

But he's been all over the place on his stance on the severity of the virus the past few months. When it first broke out he was all like "IT'S A FUCKING A CHINESE BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS VIRUS THAT WILL KILL YOU" "BUY MY SILVER TOOTHPASTE TO BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM"

And now he's like "Covid is a complete hoax" -_-

I've watched bits and pieces of him over ten years and what his whole show is now is way different then 10-15 years ago. Back in the late 00's he was very anti police and continuously did segments against them. I used to argue to old gaf about it because I was like "he hates the police too tho". :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

His videos are more like a Paul Verhoeven movie commercial nowadays compared to what he used to with Bohemian Grove footage back in the early 00's.

That is a whole nother long debate among paganism and sylvan, the greater good and deus ex machinas.

The problem with AJ is he's never understood the religious nor symbolic nature of things.

Not sure if they were fucking around or being facetious, but in Joe’s latest episode he basically kinda admitted he was moving to Austin, Texas. Russell Peters spoke about it like it was a done deal and Joe didn’t deny it, he just said “shhh... don’t tell anyone.”

Similar story to my South African friends. I really wouldn’t want to live there - being white is VERY hazardous to your health.

Pretty good episode! I also recommend the one at the time the hoax papers came to light.

Gavin McInnes started appearing on my youtube feed. He is a bit cruel, but I respect that he says exactly what he thinks. Seems to be one of the better jre episodes.

I haven’t been able to get into his last few episodes.
For me, it's usually that I watch one of the shorter clips of an episode, like what I see, and then go on watching the whole thing.
I couldn't stand watching every episode and whole through. There are so many guests where I don't have any interest in what they talk about, and sometimes it's getting into so weird stuff that I just skip.

Yeah, I usually can get into most of his guests, but ones I have no interest in usually are MMA or boxing commentators, I just don't follow those sports. I don't care about hunting, wilderness, or track and field guys he has on. I don't care about the random guests he has on that have are behind a weird obsession Joe's been into lately. Like some random book Joe is obsessed with and has the author of it on, and it's a topic I don't care about, I won't listen. I give most a try. Even some ones where he has a comedian on, and they just come off as boring or bland personalities and make Joe do all the talking I'll tune out.

I thought the James Lindsay one was good. That was the only one I liked since Colion Noir. So basically 2 out of his last 9 podcasts I couldn't get into. Not his best year for my tastes.

I wonder if he's going to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th options for some of these guests because better guests are too afraid to go out there because of corona.
