So the One X really is more powerful than the Series S.
This is my question and I am confused.
Basically the Xbox One X is already the next gen but the Series S isn't?

It's not about hindering Series X, it's about hindering enhanced Xbox One Games. I've mentioned the 4K texture pack you can download for Shadow of War if you play it on Xbox One X. It seems like Series S won't be able to run this enhanced version because it lacks RAM, this is also the reason why PS4 Pro doesn't have the 4K textures. How is the Series S not able to run the enhanced Series X settings hindering next gen?
yeah, master cerny DID say that, and showed his fancy analogy graphs too.I think that I heard Cerny say so during the "Road to PS5" presentation.
What do you think about this?
Radeon RDNA vs GCN: how much faster is AMD's next-gen architecture?
This is a project I've been wanting to work on for a long time - since it became clear that AMD's brand new Navi archit…www.eurogamer.net
You could also so say that if you bought a Pro and Ps5 but 4 years and no bc at all and not all even Ps4 games will work on PS5.Sure, but not at $1000 in 6 years, thats just dumb.
Base memory for PS4/X1 games:
~5GB
Base memory for 9 gen games:
~7,5/8GB
~25/30% more memory for developers. Worst jump in history, X360 to X1 was 16x.
The Pro and X equivalent gpu's aren't 4k gpu's but Sony and Xbox marketed them as 4k consoles.the 20 tflops 3070 isnt supposed to be a 1080p or 1440p gpu. it is replacing the 2080 ti which was a $1,200 4k 100 fps gpu.
the 1080p stuff on PC is basically your 5500xt which is a 5.2 tflops GPU. AMD markets it as a 1080p GPU. The XSS at 4 tflops is 30% lower than what AMD recommends for 1080p gaming for current gen.

They are talking about the improved versions of games that One X can handle but the One cannot. The series S will obviously run the basic One games. That is not an issue.Im no programer but my mind cant understand how a machine with 10 gb of ram cant emulate a game that ran with 512 mb of ram, but a machine with 12 gb can.
I get what you and others are saying in that: (the arrows mean upgrading to)I think MS has to keep their messaging clear but I still think what they are doing is fine. The Series S is not meant to replace the One X. Usually One X resolution is higher than 1440p so what's the point.
That said, the XSS can be a good upgrade for the One S. For example, RDR2 runs at only 864p on the Xbox One. I don't know what they have to do, but if they can get the game running at 1440p and a better framerate on the Series S, that is not quite XOX, but still a huge upgrade and would look fantastic on a 1080p screen - even a normie gamer would notice it immediately.
"4k console" label is not important. The S is for next gen, meaning all the enhanced graphics techniques, higher res models, textures, etc. Compare 360 games to Xbox One games (Gears 3 to Gears 4) to remind yourself of what a generation leap looks like. The S is not supposed to be a XB1 X replacement for this gen.
But it won't hinder next gen......
remember Cerny specifically telling everyone NOT to expect native 4k because that would require 7.2 tflops at the PS4 Pro reveal. he was very honest about the lack of PS4 Pro power and went into extreme detail on checkerboarding. The Pro and X equivalent gpu's aren't 4k gpu's but Sony and Xbox marketed them as 4k consoles.
Yes i remember that but im on about the marketing.remember Cerny specifically telling everyone NOT to expect native 4k because that would require 7.2 tflops at the PS4 Pro reveal. he was very honest about the lack of PS4 Pro power and went into extreme detail on checkerboarding.
And yet there are native 4K games on both systems. Some without dynamic resolution. The Pro and X equivalent gpu's aren't 4k gpu's but Sony and Xbox marketed them as 4k consoles.
while its okay for console fanatics to not understand what they are seeing, I start questioning the comprehension of some developers too.THE RAM IS TOO DAMN LOW
Nothing? This isnt the first cheap xbox console on the marketNice try. but nothing will stop this thing, regardless of all the false narrative stories doing the rounds now.
Yet they are still around to continue on. As I said nothing will stop this thing.Nothing? This isnt the first cheap xbox console on the market
And yet there are native 4K games on both systems. Some without dynamic resolution.
Xbox fans. All of the apocalyptic salt mining over the low ram, predicated on the idea that enhancements aren't happening at all.
It's a frenzy over nothing, and short sighted.
The first thing I would think, is that the Back Compat team now needs to dial it in and have new enhancement targets for the Series S SKU. They won't hit 4K, because it's not a 4K machine in the first place. They could bring new and different enhancements. It will be work for them that the developers likely won't need to be involved with, just like last time.
Right? So who are the ones complaining here?
That's why I did get the One X in the first place since the OG One and S are so weak 900/720p with low framerates can't even get X360 games at locked 30fps , fail of a console hardware wise. And now they do the same thing with Series S .....WHYYY ???!!!!!! I get it low price but digital only won't sell that much just like One S digital only did not.
ExactlyAnd yet there are native 4K games on both systems. Some without dynamic resolution.
dude, I've seen your posts on xbox threadsso 4TF@1440p
how does that pixel math compare to 720p or sub720p at, lets say 1TF
if my TV only does 720p, why should I upgrade to seriesS from the Switch?

Yes I know but not sure if they all will.PS4 games will work on PS5 dude.....
Xbox fans.
If we're accepting that 1080p/1440p will be around for this generation (Good i say! 1440p with all the bells and whistles >>>4k) then why are we even pushing 4k in the first place?
Fuck 4k off and add more shit. Imagine how good games would look on the XSX if they existed and ran at 1080p with all that horsepower?
not enhanced though, unless each title is specifically fetched and updated.PS4 games will work on PS5 dude.....
And correction to my math, its really $1000 in 3 years!
dude, I've seen your posts on xbox threads
don't kid yourself! the only thing that you are going to upgrade your switch with, is a switch pro.
yeah, that's a good price point for a poor like me...very attractive
i was just looking at the cost of a PC upgrade, and this is really attractive
lets see what the competition has in this price range
sucks I have to give up physical media...i buy mostly digital, but i like physical copies from some studios...if the game is complete at launch and will hold its value, like FROM, platinum, treasure, etc
it's a shame they can't tax the kind of people that have 8k tvs a little harder....subsodize this down to 199....maybe they think this will be a way more popular sku
honestly, i like the price, and it even looks cool to me, but at the end of the day it really depends on if I just have to play a game that a big purchase won't stop me
i bought xbox1 to play halo, and it was fucking worth it
let's see the exclusives
I'm actually worrying about MS next gen. They got me believing in them again, after the disaster of Kinect and the XBone. The triply-whammy of X, Elite pad and gamepass got me believing. Then the XSX was revealed as really powerful and i came all over my Phil Spencer duvet set.Insatiable Xbox fans have the Series X to carry their 4K wish fulfillment order.
The Xbox team are the only ones on the hook to enhance anything back compat, or have any reason to complain about meeting the 1440p target of the Series S SKU. They're the ones doing redundant work again, even if it's a trivial process.
It's all bullshit here though. Worrying about nothing. Sensationalism.
Leave your imagination aside for two minutes, and use your eyes instead.Fuck 4k off and add more shit. Imagine how good games would look on the XSX if they existed and ran at 1080p with all that horsepower?
