It's nice seeing Xbox fans care about exclusives instead of coupons again, especially with more aquisitions on the horizon (possibly somme Japan deals). Should be some good announcements today. I'm already seeing a trickle of shmup stuff (R-Type 2, Cotton Reboot) so Japan must be waking up.

People legit still think there's Sony favoritism on this forum. How many of the pro Sony people need to get permanently banned before it's not favoritism? Like if the argument is that despite the bans there's still more Sony people then your problem is with Sony being the market leader not some kind of moderator bias the mods have no obligation to ban people just to balance the scales.

No clue. If I was picking random Japanese devs that might be picked up by a Western publisher, SEGA would be at the top of the list. Who knows if it's true. I expect something more like an "unprecedented partnership" but an acquisition is possible. Any dev that has a large back catalog is in Microsoft's sights right now. They need to pad out that sub.

I wouldn’t rely on 4chan rumors as anything but a jumpstart for an interesting thought.
It doesn’t seem out of the question, compared to what just happened. They’re smaller, and have a treasure trove of IP and brand names. The only reason we might think it’s out there, is because they were a console manufacturer, and it seems kind of megaton level. It really wouldn’t be that strange, though, and makes a lot of sense.
Btw, it’s interesting to see these being so widely celebrated. I remember when Microsoft throwing it’s weight around like this by buying up everything in sight used to be a concern, for the public, and one of the biggest antitrust cases in recent history.
I’m actually happy to see Beth with MS, and that they actually have really cool first party studios again, but I just wonder where we draw the line on this.

Anything that helps to expand the quality of the Game Pass service further is a win in my eyes, whilst I'm not totally on board with how MS have gone for this new acquisitions approach, we've seen they've failed to foster their own staple of dev teams.
I can see the argument by some that it might be anti-consumer or anti-competitive, But MS have to make the bold strokes to help compete with Sony who have grown their own studios into industry leading teams.
Sega is a good choice in my mind, a publisher and developer of titles who aren't exactly top tier, but have enough potential quality IP for them to do exciting things with.
There has to be a line drawn somewhere, I'm not sure where that ends with MS, I certainly wasn't opposed to them hoovering up studios like Double Fine or Obsidian who have always seemingly lived from project to project. A bit of stability is likely good for those teams.
With larger acquisitions though? Its tough to see where it ends. Sega would certainly bolster their portfolio... But as you say, consumers can't just have this insane monolith ala Disney in the games space.
I do think to some extent their hand has been forced as they've seen many attempts to start new studios and generate new IP fall flat on their face. The Zenimax deal gives them a bit more quality beyond their usual output of Gears, Halo and Forza and hopefully might lead to some great quality sequels or dream projects being greenlit from a Microsoft who is desperate to compete with Sony's top level offerings.

There needs to be more "topic OTs" I think. Instead of everybody making a new thread for their thought on Bethesda/MS & crowding the entire first page with the same topic, make a MS Acquires Bethesda OT and coral it all in there.

I think moderation tends to approach it as, ‘We’ll let them get it out of their system’. I do like that for a variety of angles on approaching the subject.
I just wouldn’t mind a little more consolidation for topics that are only fractions of degrees different than existing ones.

I have it all planned out.
Picture some executive running down an Nvidia hallway holding a sheet of paper. Running into the CEOs office out of breath he says "it's true! Some asshole in north America is running a 3090 at 1080p.". Then they call a board meeting to find out what i'm up to and is there a market for this. Maybe even a new employee shows up to my work clearly a spy from Nvidia that won't stop trying to bring up gaming when he is around me.

I think it just saves them in the text field, there is no list you load from or anything. EL once advised me to save drafts in a text editor program because the draft saving feature can be flaky
