For a second I was like man I wish these would get Series X/S enhancements but probably not since they are older...but then I once again forgot this is now owned by Microsoft...So theres a chance!

I'd take a collection that gets added to GamePass and has optimised load times. That's a horrific backlog expander :D

Is this something to worry about?
I guess that probably means the system is ventilating the hot air off, as it should, but I'd like to hear more about it.

I don't know why the vents doing their job would be concerning, it's by design.

Xbox Series X reviewers have put in hundreds of hours on their devices already but there's no evidence the heat dissipation throttles the speed or causes excess noise from the fans, in fact the contrary.

I don't think so, because these systems are tested extensively, also inside of cabinets.

Fantastic! Thanks!

But of course, the usual sorts are trying to use the Lestream bit (which was making the reference to it "being hot" more as a lighthearted tongue-in-cheek thing, not like they were legit concerned the system would die or explode due to temperature), among others, to fearmonger that the system has heating issues.

Some people honestly never learn...

*Edit: Not referring to you, Kssio_Aug Kssio_Aug . You were just genuinely curious.

I mean more the people who know how these type of electronics work, know a good deal about tech, aren't strangers to using game consoles in various set-ups but also happen to wear their brand allegiance on their sleeve and concern-troll with stuff like this if it means they can put a different brand in a negative light.

For some further context, here's a post from iroboto on B3D that explains how our own human perception of heat might be causing some conflation when we deal with electronics:

On the other side of that lens however, the thing is, for human touch, we feel things are too hot once you get to about 50C - 60C. That's usually considered scalding. But for nvme drives that's actually operational. You get into throttling at 70-90 depending, and you get into damage at 90+. But this is the reality of hardware. No one in the PC world, having just ran their NVME drive hard, would just open their case and grab it by the fingers. You're just asking for a burning. It's no different than touching hot components on a PC having just completed a workout. You know not to do it.

Thanks for asking I was wondering the same thing and thank you to all who responded and explained. I think the concern tolling by people that have absolutely NO intention of ever buying an Xbox was getting to me.

Tom Warren playing Apex Legends on the XSX, he is shit at the game btw. Very frustrating to watch

Yeah he was talking about not releasing the footage because he had never really played it and he was so terrible. Guess he decided people laughing at him was worth it to get the content out :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Yeah, pretty obvious when someone has no idea what they're doing but they're just trying to show something off that people have requested. Good on him for putting himself out there like that, but it is pretty tough to get through if you know the game well.

Pardon my ignorance but what's this I've been hearing about overheating? Is it just FUD or is there some legitimate concern?

To make a foray into the fast-growing South Korean console market, currently dominated by Japanese products -- Sony’s PlayStation and Nintendo’s Switch -- Microsoft has partnered with local telecommunications operator SK Telecom to promote its Xbox consoles.

Last month, Microsoft and SKT together launched Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in Korea, a video game subscription service modeled after Netflix. By using SKT’s 5G networks, the subscription service supports cloud gaming, allowing gamers to enjoy more than 100 Xbox games with their Android smartphones or tablets for a monthly fee of 16,700 won ($14.40).

“It might seem that SKT is simply acting as the retailer and distributor of Xbox games, but it’s SKT, not Microsoft, that will actually be running the subscription service. SKT will be in charge of marketing, the subscription process and customer service,” an SKT official said.

SKT will split the profits from the subscription service with Microsoft and game developers, adding a new business model to its decade-old conventional mobile carrier service.

SKT is aiming for 1 million subscribers by 2023.

Just like an X1 cable box or the way a PC is brings in cool air while dispersing hot. People are desperate. They act like this isn’t how any electronic device works

This whole thing is ridiculous.

for comparison:
After 30 minutes of play, the top registers 45.5°C at its peak, while the bottom clocks in at 49.4°C. Finally, a measurement is taken of the vents, which come in at 61.6°C. This is CRAZY AF HOT!

These measurements are from the PS4. Lol

love the comments there. They are actually saying that these results are very good.
now Xbox has basically the same according to some RUMORS from PRE PRODUCTION UNITS and people here act like it’s the worst thing in the world and the console is on fire.
Ridiculous.

So my Game Pass Ultimate runs out in less than a week. I already did the $1 deal and got more than a year back when Game Pass was announced.

Is it true that I can do it again as long as I add a new account to my Xbox? Have any of you done it? I want to buy 2 years of Gold and then do the conversion. Plus once I do Xbox all Access and I buy the XSX I will get one more year.

I want to make sure though, I don't want to buy 2 years of Gold for absolutely no reason. Any of you good folks know the answer to my question?

I did 1yr Gold, then the $1 Ultimate deal on one of my accounts. Towards the end I cancelled recurring billing and let my sub expire. Went PC GP for a couple months, came back a couple weeks ago and did the same thing again: 1yr. Gold then 1-month Ultimate and it converted to 13 months GP Ultimate.

I can't really say what the timing is, but at least it's possible like that.

Thanks brother! I'm going to let it expire, then I will add a 2nd account, buy 2 years of Gold, do the conversion and bam ready for next gen!

I hope it works out for you. I'm about to do the same thing for one of my sons X1S and his PC. He's lapsed by around a week now. I'll post back once I do it and let people know if it works. This is on accounts that already did the deal last year. Mine worked. We'll see how his does. Google might have more info.

These are bundles of the Xbox One/PS4 games. Assuming they will get Series versions/enhancements via Smart Delivery. I assume it was probably easier to just let it run in BC on PS5 rather than go through trouble of adding another sku and offering an upgrade path.

Edit: Could also just be that MSFT lists every Xbox One game in the store as being on S/X too.
