PS5 teardown happened for some days already and DF did nothing to cover the Sony event.
While they keep doing videos about old games nobody cares.

When asked why the reply:

OP is taking that whole exchange out of context and he knows it. The other person he's responding to accuses DF of being paid by MS to cover Xbox instead of PS5 teardown. What was DF supposed to cover with PS5 since they don't have one?

I wonder what video we're talking about? If it was the Xbox storage options video then this is even more of a disgrace. That video was great and really informative.

This could all be solved by Sony following MS's example and letting the gaming press/Youtubers have a look at all these side features like BC, auto-HDR, UI, loading times, console hands-on, etc. I think PS5 is a well-designed console, except for it's size/form factor. That thing is a big heckin' chonker and the optics of this Noah's Ark of game consoles next to the XSX and XSS probably wouldn't be great.

Alex got trolled, though. Same thing happened here where some of the more annoying Sony fanboys drove Dark10x away.

You do understand that Digital Foundry literally makes video analysis on almost every big news announced, regardless of whether they can do hands on, right?
But for hardware HANDS ON, they usually wait until, you know, they get their HANDS ON the actual item, what's the point of doing a HANDS ON breakdown when someone else is doing it? Do you just want them to watch the video and go "yep, that's certainly a heat sink, that's almost certainly a large fan, interesting choices with the placement".

John likes Playstation, Richard likes Xbox and Alex likes PC. They all fight their biases fairly well and seeing it any other way likely means you're an annoying fanboy.
I mean, I get what you are saying, I still must say that I have found John to be much more objective in his comments on the two systems; contrast this with comments like the above from Alex. And as far as I am concerned, I am not a fanboy, I just like the video game offerings from Sony more than XBOX. If XBOX brings great games, I will love them no doubt and will recommend them to others as well. In this battle of consoles, I am on the side of good games, whichever side offers them. For the time being, though, Sony seems to be the one offering them.

I'm thinking about teardowns for the PS5 in general.

Will anyone who does a teardown be able to put the system back together correctly?

I can imagine the Liquid Metal might make the process of rebuilding it alot more complicated.

wait till Sony gives them a console and then they can report. You should be upset that a month out nobody has had their hands on the console

Actually I pretty much know what I'm getting when it comes to the PS5. It'd going to have a great cooling solution so heat shouldn't be an issue. Plus we have already seen games captured off it so we already know what to expect. And shortly we will probably get a look at the UI.

Ps5 will outsell the Series X in the coming generation like it has in this one.

Sony will have their big exclusive ips.

Microsoft will have their game pass model and some bought exclusives from Bethesda etc.

Both fanbases will be happy with the consoles they chose.

Who the fuck cares for this damn console war. Shit's been going on for decades move the fuck on.

Aww. DF offended you.

If anybody is wondering why the qoated image isn't loading it's because it's exclusive to owners of a playstation!

Edit:
On DF I'm sure they're paid by both Sony and MS to do promotional stuff. If you want them to do a PS5 teardown Sony should send them a PS5.

This is such a bullshit response by Digital Foundry's Alex. If the video was "uninteresting", then why did DF make their own (which was exclusive) for the XSX?

It has about 400k views. An "ABSOLUTE REVOLUTION IN CONSOLE DESIGN!" they said. Pretty INTERESTING, right?

Now, the Playstation 5 Teardown has roughly 7M views. I guess the masses found one teardown more "interesting" than the other.

I can completely understand that DF may not have a video because they are working on projects, but to claim the PS5 Teardown was uninteresting and does not have a lot of information is a load of bullshit. It answers a lot of questions that Rich was pondering about and is very well designed and even a first in console gaming with Liquid Metal as the thermal interface.

maybe because they‘ve actually had a hands on tear down with xbsex, something to talk about instead of commenting on video published by Sony, You cannot compare a proper hands on with commenting a video.

Translation: “Sony didn’t give us early access to the PS5, so we won’t go the extra mile to cover PS5 news”. Sounds pretty shilly to me, we get it Alex you worship the ground Spencer walks on.

At least he knows where his paycheck is coming from.

What's the point of them speculating about next gen hardware and next gen games in all the videos they've done the past two years?

Whether it is or isn't hands on isn't really the point

I already got my information from other YouTubers. They pretty much explained the air flow, the liquid metal and the heat sink. There's no need for Digital Foundry to repeat that information since they were already beaten to it.

Although some people would he interested in what they have to say about it. They are afterall specialized analyzing technology in these machines. It wouldn't hurt to have their opinion in the teardown. But like I said before they would probably already repeat what others have said since they would be late with their video.

You do understand that Digital Foundry literally makes video analysis on almost every big news announced, regardless of whether they can do hands on, right?

That implies there are things they dont do analysis on?
So something such as doing an analysis on a video about the disassembly of the PS5 might be one of the things they dont do analysis on.

If people are just going to shit on DF and claim DF are biased why do they want DF to do the video?

Its also super weird that NeoGAF seemingly hates ERA and DF yet has a multi multi post salt filled thread based on a post on ResetERA by an employee of DF.

Im not one to console war, but this thread is so full of salt its almost impossible not to make fun of people who are seemingly taking this personal.

My point is that Digital Foundry has tons of videos analyzing events that they themselves have NOT had "Hands on". PS5 Teardown Reveal is a big deal and worth having their input on. I think Rich would agree. Alex is just coming across as the biggest douche as usual on social media/forums and instead of just being honest he has to put the Teardown on blast instead. Pretty unprofessional, but that guy has shown time and time again how much of a clown he is, so not totally unexpected.

My issue isn't with Digital Foundry not having a video, though considering their reach and the topics they generally discuss it would be a peculiar omission.

My issue is with Alex's BULLSHIT take on the PS5 Teardown being uninteresting with not a lot of new info. That's complete bullshit.

Whether it is or isn't hands on isn't really the point

They have a literal Xbox Series X in their possession, it's long past the point of speculation, next gen starts in a month and hundreds of Microsoft's console are being played and tested worldwide.

Why should DF, or anyone, waste their time and hours commenting on a video about a teardown at this stage?

Blame Sony, if anyone.

That hands console can't be tested though and the one they have now, can't be disassemble.
So I don't get what Alex is saying.
They can discuss so much in that teardown that many people missed.
It's not like they can disassemble PS5 if Sony give them one right now.

yeah but the other youtubers and so on have gave their views off a video. Digitalfoundry will do it when then can see it inthe flesh. Remember they had a hands on with series X.

why haven’t Sony done the same? Invite the experts to look at it?

You think there's something wrong with the hardware?

They don't have to, and that's really not what I'm complaining about. Please read above.

You think there's something wrong with the hardware?

Concern... concern... concern... there is nothing Sony can do, which is why after entertaining it at the beginning reclassifying that indeed they had HW Raytracing and an RDNA2 based GPU thanks to some professional doubt... they are just proceeding on their own.

Can’t wait for digital foundry to make a video about the tear down and then watch people crying when DF says something negative about it. They’re just plastic boxes, chill out

People are upset because DF isn’t making a video about the teardown? What else are they supposed to say?

They’re doing a lot of content on Series X BC since they have the console to test. They’ll do a ton of videos on PS5 as well once they get their hands on it.

You would think that after the teardown people would worry less about the console being badly designed and suffering from overheating issues. But it looks like some people are still pushing that narrative.

Sony has been doing a great job at destroying FUD lately. Pretty sure more FUD will be destroyed when the console releases.
