Some big Sonygaf heads have been sent rolling these past couple of weeks, hopefully the message will begin to get through. It would be nice if future DF threads weren't filled with their crazed conspiracy theories. I have 3 Sony consoles at home, but their obnoxiousness almost makes me start to actively dislike the whole Playstation platform. Ironic, given what they are trying to achieve with their constant warring.

It's the same as lefties turning away from the extreme left. Just dont wanna be associated with them, people thinking I make shampoo adverts or laze by the pool with my PS4

Look, they can do what they want. But It’s the successor to the second highest selling console of all time and sold out 12 million preorders in about 5 minutes. The teardown Revealed information about the stand, cooling system(fan, heat sink, liquid metal) after ps4s had noise issues, SSD location and expansion and customization possibilities.l with the panels. There’s no way the 7million YouTube views were just Sony fans. Even here in the ps5 teardown thread the posts there were plenty of comments by non-Sony gamers. It’s far from uninteresting if you’re an enthusiast or if you cater to enthusiasts.

See, This is a reasomable take. I read that pic in OP and I'm like 'ok he said the video was dropped suddenly and they have work scheduled. They may do one after that but if they've got a new toy actually in their hands, they'll probably want to play with that rather than do a round up of a Sony Engineer video'. Dunno why that pisses people off? If I had the latest Samsung Galaxy and I could play with it, or do a rundown of A sammy engineer tearing down a new Note, I knwo which I'd prefer 🤷‍♂️

Probably. It's a tricky thing that even most PC people aren't familiar with. Gamers Nexus will do a good job though. They always do.

You're probably right about that. But unfortunately most people won't have the experience thst they have with liquid metal so many others would probably mess up with that. Thermal paste is much easier to replace than Liquid Metal. If you make a mess it's easy to clean it up and redo it. But if you do that with Liquid Metal thats a different story.

You don`t see the contradiction between having a history of reacting to videos without any specific insight to give and deciding not to react to a specific video? Ok, pal.

I guess discussing rumors is more interesting than actual official hardware reveals.
Historically they had done plenty of videos about game graphics. Like I said they did videos on Spiderman and Demon Souls. That isn't a contradiction. They did a video on XSX a console they handled and they didn't do a video on PS5 a console they haven't. That isn't a contradiction either. I'm sure they will do a video when they actually obtain a PS5.

Sure, but that's not something you or I will ever really need to worry about. This is more for the techtubers. The experienced ones will be fine. The noobs will fuck it up, but even then, fucking it up will make good content for them so they still win. At the very least, it bring awareness to liquid metal tech when previously it was a very niche product. That's a good thing.

no but what's the point on doing a video on the video? why not do it when its in your own hands and they can look in detail as they did with the series X

not to ba part of the fan paranoia but i must admit that no reaction on twitter about the video from any of them is a little surprising.

they have their hands on next gen hardware. why would they need to comment on a video when they are busy testing the series X

I think gamers leaning towards Sony, shouldn't put that much importance to DF covering playstation news or not. There are alternatives like NXgamer or Vgtech. If they ignore you, ignore them, for integrity's sake.

My thing is that they are supposedly professional but not acting like so. I mean the ps4 was a huge success so acting like the ps5 breakdown was uninteresting is unprofessional. Sure they can do so and I can continue not to support them and help them. The street goes 2 ways.

This is fair. But then the DF guy probably would have been better served saying “we never comment on teardowns unless we do it ourselves “ to say it’s uninteresting comes with at least a hint of bias to me. I’m far from a tech expert and I was able to determine things from that video. I have to believe a pro would have some more to interpret. He appeared to be more concerned with the fact that it wasn’t exclusive to them or that they didn’t get to do the teardown first in that post.

DF has to walk on eggshells around here. Seems the sony fan and df honeymoon was cut short.

Crying over them not making a video about SOMEONE ELSE'S teardown is quite ridiculous. Tell nxgamer to make one since you guys always say you prefer him 🤔.
Seemed like a long multi year honeymoon to me.

DF had no problem telling gamers for years PS4 games are 1080p and Xbox One struggled anywhere from 720, 900, and hopefully 1080p. Don't remember seeing any PS fans saying that standard 1080p PS4 game 97% of the time is bad analysis.

Sauce of the 12 million preorders

What's the point of them speculating about next gen hardware and next gen games in all the videos they've done the past two years?

Whether it is or isn't hands on isn't really the point
You asked what's the point of them doing a hardware breakdown of the Xbox and I thought the answer was obvious, but let me say it clearly, they did it because THEY HAD ONE, they got to do the video how they wanted it to be, they got to take the actual thing apart, be involved, get an up close look in person. Commenting on a video is nowhere near as interesting FOR THEM in comparison.

It would be a lie. They can do it, but this is busy period (series x , 3080 to test lately)
And i see nobody making thread crying there is no comment/video on amd ryzen 5XXX reveal or hint at what 6XXX wild be
Why ? Probably because those products target a more mature and less sensible/crying fanbase.

It must have something "interesting" for the people if you have 6.5 millions views in 48 hrs....I guess its ok if they don't want to go over it because its uninteresting for them.
i wasn't interested in a teardown video tbh but watched it when released as we are starved of any real ps5 info.

then wait for them to do it and see. they are clearly busy with testing the series X which they actually have at the moment

Well it's obviously going to go contain the game parts that we saw. So I don't think they would reveal anything new from the teardown. However their analysis on games and the hardware running them might reveal new things.

I can't really blame their reaction honestly. Whatever silly conspiracy theories aside, they need physical hardware to do their job. They got a physical system from one company, not the other. So, good things can be said about one, and not about the other as a result. They're not going to listen to word of mouth, they want to see it themselves. I don't understand why people are getting so up in arms about it. Makes sense to me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You call yourself "Digital Foundry"

And find a next gen console teardown nobody knows anything about 'uninteresting'?

Very poor choice of words by Alex. You could loose job with goofups like that.

I do not care of DF does a video or not. The Sony teardown video was enough for me. I do not like the excuse that DF had a Series X for that teardown though. They used a dummy Series X held together with magnets in a controlled environment.

I really like DF and I watch the videos I am interested in. Ignore the ones I am not. I don't care what they cover because I can ignore the stuff I am not interested and find info on things I am interested in on the many other tech youtube channels that are out there.

Sony released a controlled video of the teardown, it looks great yes but why not let people come and do it like xbox did?

Because that's an actual engineer doing the teardown on the console that he helped design. The video itself was very well done and revealed slot about the system. Nobody is really complaining about it's quality.

first off, it doesn’t matter if they do or don’t. But to call it uninteresting is ridiculous. Second of all, if they’re too busy then here’s a tissue. They signed up for this. Hire more people. It’s like a UPS driver complaining it’s busy In November and December. You knew it was coming. You signed up for it. Mature or not, they depend on clicks. It’s ignorant and short sighted to not piggyback a video that got 7million views.
