No you are not alone, a lot of PS fans have these concerns.

To be fair....not ONLY 'some PS fans' but yes, mostly. ;)

The bottom line of ANY of these reports (for Playstation as well!) is that unless and until we start to get reports of issues from real users, with real production/retail spec'd units....it's all a bunch of anecdotal foolery without real evidence. The same goes for these videos of games crashing on launch for XSX. It's in a PREVIEW situation. If the same happens with retail units for regular folks, then yep, we have a problem. Till then...NO BIG DEAL.

Depends on the game, but there's been some games on PS4 that doesn't have it when the Xbox One version does (and probably the other way around too).
Sniper Elite 4

Crysis Remastered/CoD MW, most recent ones that I remember.

I would easily spot screen tearing if it ever happened, but I swear that I don't remember seeing it while gaming in my life. I read about it and heard about it before and had to go to youtube to see what's all this is about, and why PC gamers are into Freesync and G-Sync stuff and VRR.

I think that's why nearly all PS fans don't understand what's the big deal with VRR in HDMI 2.1.

Please explain this to me.

What is there to explain? The high price? Like I said I bought 3 Scuf Impact controllers, they cost a bit more than €200 a pop, one even €260 with the customisations I let them do. They were basically DS4's on inside with added electronics to add paddles. You pay that high price for the extra stuff they have to cram in there plus Scufs are hand made unlike the ones you posted.

I am sure Scuf will do the same with the DS5, but I sure as heck am not going to be paying that much money again. I want Sony to come with a solution, a Pro DS5 or an addon and right now I would prefer an add on since the crazy person that I am likes to collect controllers too (tho, I sold most of them now so I could use the money to pay for the PS5, hehe) so an addon would be best for me!

Hmm 🤔 how high are the chances that we can pop off the white parts from the controller too and buy replacements for them in different colours and styles? Heck maybe that is how the paddle addon will work as well, we just buy Sony blue faceplates for the controller with added back buttons/paddles!

You have no agenda when putting that extremely gimped screenshot, huh?

Here is the 4K screenshot from the video:

Your BS is pretty transparent.

i literally copied this image from one of the gaming websites (think it was game informer), to think I have nothing better to do than edit/create some images to win battles on gaming forum, it is literally one of the top images when I searched for gt7 on google images

you seems to be guy on a mission, fair enough

Even those aren't 100% 4K screenshots btw, slightly lower, here is a 4K of the same frame above:

vlcsnap-2020-10-12-20h08m11s332.png

still doesnt look impressive, and if I recall correctly there was a noticeable pop in this section (not rubbing it in)

I didn't say it was, just wondered if that (and the fact it's yet another game without PS4 to PS5 save transfer) was possibly the reason so many Sony fans seem to want to dunk on Dirt 5.
2 games confirmed that don't have save transfer, DiRT 5 and Yakuza. Weirdly, both have Xbox marketing.
It's up to the devs

The point is that you can always find shitty stills of a game. Do you know what I find disrespectful? That you would never hammer so hard on Dirt5 if the marketing rights were for Sony. Your agenda is obvious to everyone.
Aren't you disappointed with how DiRT 5 looks? Or that it's dynamic 4k?
I think it looks a bit shitty, and it'll look a bit shitty when it's on PS5, too.

Maneater also doesn't. It's not marketed by MS, so tinfoil hat off Deku :messenger_winking:

Dirt 5 looks poor, but I'm not a racing game fan. I objected to the FUD that it can't hit 60fps on XsX, but am not about to deny it doesn't look next gen - even if it is an early build.

Not to be obtuse but Sony could have provide a method later in development or a set of complex instructions on how to get cross-gen saves working and their 'Sony' statement could still be true whilst it could still be harder than xbox's implementation. Maneater is the 3rd game where the save file won't work also Spider-Man Remastered weirdly doesn't carry over saves however it also could be that sony cares about it's trophy stats.

My post was general, that's why I said Pro/Elite. Take a look at this then:

Please explain this to me.

EDIT: With how DualSense is dense and futuristic, it embarrasses those basic, overpriced controllers.

Omg thank you lol I totally forgot I have it and put it in one of my drawers since cam out totally forgot about it. I played with it a bit it’s beautiful controller and feels high quality but I wish Sony was supported it for PS5 :messenger_downcast_sweat: I am going to mess round with it. It need to get use to before you get better at it.

*Googles what Maneater game is* Oh God lol :messenger_tears_of_joy:

  • This is not a different application/game on XBox Series S & X and saves and trophies/achievements will carry forward.
    • This may require subscriptions to additional services such as XBox Gold (such as for cloud save transfers)
  • This IS a separate application/game on PlayStation 5 and trophies, stats and saves will not transfer
I wonder if that's the reason for the other 2 games? :pie_thinking:

The good thing is that Microsoft has to prove those 12TFs and I think that should happen soon.

You're right about this and I believe (IMHO) that Microsoft has put themselves in a bit of a bad position with this. I mean, nothing's wrong with advertising your power or even that you're 'most powerful,' especially when you have numbers to back it up. That's just marketing and everyone does it. The PROBLEM for MS, again in my opinion only, is that they're using this valid marketing angle, but are going to have trouble SHOWING it.

I think they will have this issue because, as many have been saying...the actual differential by the numbers is very small. It's THERE, no question, but it's smaller by a long shot then this current generations power difference was. So they may not be able to point to things like this generation had when one game ran at 1080p and the other at 900p. On top of that, the PS5 is LIKELY to have a visible advantage in speed with loading games, etc. So IF and that's a big if, the only difference consumers can see with their eyes is the PS5 "running faster," that may be an issue for Microsoft and their marketing position.

On the other hand....what are they supposed to do....NOT market the XSX as the 'most powerful' console and all of that? Of course not! It's just going to be a much harder position to support..I think. Then again, marketing is just marketing and if they stick with that message all generation they're well within their rights to and maybe that messaging helps enough to offset any differences or lack of differences......who knows?

Bottom line, this is going to be an awesome generation folks. And in fairness to my Xbox fan friends...I have to say this.. Yes, ok, there aren't going to be MS 1st party titles for a few years that show off the XSX. But they ARE coming. All Xbox fans have to do is look at the PS5 and it's games, if they have questions, and they can know that this is the same kind of thing that they'll be able to see and get on their XSX pretty soon. That's the GOOD thing about having this generation so close in power. There, as far as we know anyway, shouldn't be anything that one box can do that the other just can't.

Has it been discussed anywhere yet on how quick resume applies to physical games? Say I want to play one game from disc, then quick resume to another game that's digital. But then I want to quick resume a third game that's on another disc.

I think that the games will all be loaded to internal storage to take advantage of their speed. You'll probably still need the disk in the drive for quick resume, but that will probably be used just as a copy protection type of check, then load fully from the internal SSD super fast.

This might well be an argument for going fully digital though, so one doesn't have to mess with inserting the right disk into the drive!

What finish would you have preferred? I think glossy wouldn't work all around. It's too much. I even dislike it a bit on my Xbox One, and that's only halve the console.

Glossy would have been a stunner, difficult to please and maintain but a stunner nonetheless. Matte is fine, but maybe the exact color, texture, etc... there is matte and there is matte I guess.

Wait what? When did external SSDs become an option? I'm assuming if it's an option. It will only be for last gen titles?

I guess the disadvantage is that it's more vulnerable to get damaged as it's more exposed versus say the Seagate card being pushed in the back of the Series X.

I didn't expect this SSD to be used as an option, but here we are (timestamp).

Not really. I never liked Dirt, was never going to play it. I couldn't care less about how it looks. Like you said, it will also release on PS5, it's not like the graphics will magically be better out of nowhere.

And the worse is coming.
here's motostorm on Ps3
782599-928393_20070305_001.jpg

And even worse here's PGR4 on the 360 (that game was awesome)
1118full-pgr4%3A-project-gotham-racing-4-screenshot.jpg

Why do some next gen games look worse than not even current gen games but previous gen games.
The biggest problem is the marketing of dirt 5 is they love to talk about of how good the game will looks like in next gen systems and
I mean we all saw games in current gen games which demolished those graphics because even in framerates below 120 still look
average in many moments.

Xbox please show/promote your forzas instead this.

This is wrong. PS3 had software emulation once they removed the ps2 chip. I’m sure Sony can do PS3 software emulation now with the PS5 since you can do it on PCs, they just choose not to.

Ya know, I believe Sony now has a good working PS3 emulator for the PS5 but they won't just add it for all games like we're expecting.

Making sure a game works thru emulation and modifying the emulator to make a game run well takes time.

I believe they will add it to PS Now!

They can add a game to the subscription after they made sure it works well. This will mean we can then download the game to our PS5 and play it without streaming. This then also means they can roll out the new PS Now to more countries...

This would be the smartest way to do this

You can even used HDD for BC mode for PS4 games. But of course you can use whatever to transfer data in/out when the internal is full, but not run games.

Oh interesting. I don't recall having gotten confirmation on that for ps5 though I had seen the DF video for XsX. Nice tho.

To use dictator's words, Dirt 5 has flat lighting. I think every light is baked. No blooming effect when driving out of a tunnel, no 'eye adjustment' dimming effect when driving in a tunnel. No volumetric fog or dust clouds. Just a current gen game. I think PS5 will show the same result (graphicly), except for faster loading times.

It's nice to see some actual XSX footage; still kind of bizarre how sparse it is so soon from launch.

But what I saw today looks fine to me.. not enough to make me worry something is wrong... also not shocked to see some quick resume bugs out in the wild. The Xbox One OS was buggy as shit at launch too lol

Again, any game on any system where the frame rate is not locked at a number which is a factor of your screens refresh rate (i.e. 30, 60) without VRR will cause screen tearing. So yes, plenty of games on PS have screen tearing.

You can start showing, please. I've played open framerates on GOW, Borderlands 3, FF15, and other games, never seen screen tearing.

With triple buffering enabled, the game renders a frame in one back buffer. While it is waiting to flip, it can start rendering in the other back buffer. The result is that the frame rate is typically higher than double buffering (and Vsync enabled) without any tearing.

The console is okay but is not in my opinion the best game to see running for the first time in XSX
for graphics, loading and missing RT I will prefer gears tactics, the medium.

Crysis Remastered/CoD MW, most recent ones that I remember.

It won't be in there in the same place, assuming the frame rates are different, and maybe not in the same frames. But if your framerate doesn't divide into the display refresh rate evenly, tearing is happening. In that screen shot, Xbox will have the least tearing, since it hangs closer to an acceptable rate (30fps). You never want to be running at consistently between 30 and 60, that is going to be tear city (one or the other is preferred).

One thing to mention about PS Now and PS3 games is that the PS3 racks that they have can't continue running forever. At some point that hardware is going to start to die, and I wonder when those rack units were made between (I can't imagine they are still making them now). So PS3 emulation as a way of continuing their ability to provide PS3 games on PS Now makes perfect sense if they can perfect it on a game by game basis.
