It was from the early days of the SSD = GPU marketing blitz Sony had you just knew Sony would hate Digital Foundry.
ign twitterWhere this from?
I usually dont belive IGN, I wonder where they got the stats from. Interesting if it is true.ign twitter

I think the uninteresting comment was meant in the context of creating a video about it. There's not really much to expand on and create a video off ofIt's so odd to see a media-tech company so uninterested in a teardown that the PS5 had. Especially considering Sony hasn't shown the inside of the console at all yet! His natural tech instincts should have been interested in a least 2 or 3 things in that teardown. Like where the expanded SSD would be, the look of the heatsink, and the size and shape of the fan. Like AT THE VERY LEAST he should have been internally motivated to see and talk about that stuff.

8 million views later, how “uninteresting”.
Alex is the bottom of barrel slack jawed yokel of DF.
Not to mention all the pop up YTers that done videos on the teardown and ended up with views in the hundred of thousands.
He sounds offended Jimbo did not single DF out for a console, and i am glad Jimbo did this.

ok now they are just trolling gaf lol,
This, just this is enough.Right, and that would mean some additional input on their side.
Doesn't stop them making lengthy videos speculating on other things most of the time though.
But ultimately it's up to them. If they are not interested in covering all aspects of gaming from a technical point of view but would rather only cover what they are fed/sent (and give preferential treatment to that) then people will start going elsewhere for content on the subject.
Without naming names, other channels do a good job covering everything they possibly can even while having less resources than they do.
Expected when they actually have the hardware on hand, but I get what you mean. Sony really should send some units out. I realize what MS is doing is unconventional (sending preview units out to a shit ton of content creators this early), but Sony following suit would be applauded by the entire gaming community. Lots of us thirsty gamers that want to see the PS5 in action.
I really do think at this point DF should actually comment directly on what the situation is right now with Sony. Has there been a falling out or not? All I have to go on is what we saw in the recent stream where John commented about his sources telling him about good things for PS5 which was met with a stony silence and body language that was a picture.
What did the other 20% pre-order?
Stadia.What did the other 20% pre-order?
I think that's fair. There's obviously a perception that there is a bias and they need to address it. If anything it reminds me of the likes of Druckmann who revel in the controversy when a simple acknowledgement and genuine explanation does so much more good.
They are right in the fact they arent obligated to do it, and they probably have a point that those set in their ways wouldnt listen anyway. But in the name of calmung the waters sometimes its better to take the high road.
I don't think they should comment on their situation with Sony, as much as they should comment on their situation with Microsoft. They keep posting videos of XSX, XSS and games running on either one with a very advertisement-y tone and little actual analysis other than a mention of resolution and frame rate here and there. In almost all of their recent Xbox videos there is very little technical information and a lot of buzzwords, platitudes and pre-emptive excuses for issues.I really do think at this point DF should actually comment directly on what the situation is right now with Sony. It's not a guarantee for Sony to give them a console to test, or for them to have one. If they have no access to Sony's hardware, they won't make any Sony content, which makes sense and is perfectly fine. If somebody feels like Sony should give access to PS5 to more reviewers, you should go and bring it up with Sony, not Digital Foundry.
The thing with Digital Foundry is that when you make a backwards compatible analysis using the words "It's IMMENSE!" in the title (and the results in the actual video are, frankly, the bare minimum everybody expected), every single time you mention an unimpressive result in terms of resolution/framerate/graphics you feel the need to throw a billion superfluous excuses at the listener ("it's unfinished code!", "it's test hardware!", "it's only noticeable when it doesn't matter!", "it's because there was unlucky lighting!", "they'll patch in ray tracing anyway later on!", "the camera is static so it doesn't ruin the experience!"), you fill your videos with generic praises without even really showing/substantiating your opinion with some technical information, and you fail to mention bugs/glitches/shortcomings that are so obvious people can see them in your very footage that you are using to talk about unrelated stuff... call me a cynic, but I'm going to question your motives.

I believe it's has to do with them not having any hands on with physical hardware, not much into released from Sony, and the teardown from Sony didn't have much commentary. In comparison, they were able to get a deep dive and ask questions with the hardware team directly. Going from MS reveal to what Sony offered (or lack there of), I could see them saying "underwhelming" . But I can understand "uninteresting" coming off as a bit harsh to some.Yes there is. And a few Youtubers have done that already. One of them got like 800,000 views after doing an 8-minute overview. There's ALOT to discuss if you actually like tech as a hobby.

I think we can all get that they will do their own teardown when they get their ps5. I do find it astonishing that several fans want to see any possible news or video footage of the PS5, but don't want digital foundry to do a hands-on, but at the same time get upset that digital foundry didn't do a video on a video. I don't think they can win in any situation.
There are plenty of warriors that hate DF on here, and were saying "Sony shouldn't send them a ps5, DF feels entitled to get one sent from Sony, etc"Are you sure there's anybody here that "doesn't" want DF to do a hands-on with the PS5? How can that be possible?

Out of all the tech teams who do YouTube videos, DF has the absolute least amount of bias. They do tests on ALL hardware, from pocketable handhelds, consoles in the living room, to high end PC's. You can't say that about some of the other YouTubers that clearly prefer a single company over others. DF enjoys playing the games just as much as analyzing them from a technical aspect.
Idk about NXGamer, no offense to him. But he seems to only cover Sony and PC. Not much of Xbox from him, unless it's criticising/negative. Haven't seen much from VGTech, but he seems to at least cover Xbox and Sony comparisons from glancing over his videos. I'll check em out.
If i want non biased content I watch Nxgamer or Vgtech.
This was already debunked as an incredibly poor sample of the game buying public. No shock IGN ran with it.What did the other 20% pre-order?

Not sure why there’s some strange Xbox defence force for DF when there bias is so prominent.I don't think they should comment on their situation with Sony, as much as they should comment on their situation with Microsoft. How are they biased? Its not the best thing to point fingers with no facts. Do you honestly think if Sony wasn't so secretive, maybe the rumors about no raytracing on ps5, wouldn't exist to begin with? People can only talk about rumors or speculation, if the source isn't confident to show anything themselves till just recently. Not sure why there’s some strange Xbox defence force for DF when there bias is so prominent.
DF and EG favours Xbox going All the way back to pre launch of current gen, get over it.
Alex was literally making up fud about ps5 being software RT while
Xbox doesn’t have any for launch.
Show in a game the difference between a DRAM less SSD and one with DRAM. If it doesn't have a tangible effect on how a game performs it doesn't mean much to a gamer. Similar to how Alex did not care about a teardown of a system he and his team don't have. They should (DRAM is not added to SSD’s for the fun of it), this is actually the job of tech sites like DF to provide this data/educate so that people are aware.
If it were on the opposite end of the spectrum you would hear “We have seen that in XSX’S Velocity Architecture there is dedicated DRAM next to the SSD flash controller to ensure lower latency reads and lower flash wear and tear by combining and intelligently placing write and read commands... we do not know if Sony has something similar as it could impact performance and reliability of their high speed SSD”. Battaglia and Leadbetter would happily speculate in that fashion as they have on the whole software Raytracing issue when they could find enough wiggle room on the PS side... people on this forum have done too as well.
How about we see what they say when they actually have a PS5 in house shall we? This is what Sony wanted after all. It's so odd to see a media-tech company so uninterested in a teardown that the PS5 had. They dont even have the fucking box
With the Series X they actually have the hardware so, omg, I wonder which one they will prioritize?
Blame Sony for being such pussies and not sending the box yet
I look forward to the DF breakdowns showing time and time again why the PS5 version of multiplatform games are superior. As for your point on them doing a video on a video we'll just agree to disagree. A hands on video with first hand info is far more useful. I'm sure they do some vids when get the system. It will. There’s no precedent to show because this is the first time that consoles are being built with SSD not only installed but into the system architecture. They know that. It’s relevant. It also extends the life of the SSD. Again, relevant.
Didn’t need to be in their hands. Plenty of important info came from that teardown that could have been further analyzed. This has been discussed and commented on many times in this thread.
This was beyond poor. Didnt it work out to being bless then 100 people? Anyway im gonna go out on a limb and say considering xbox units are shipping (seeing skids of units), ms has been able to produce more units then sony then sony while shipping to more countries for launch.I'm pretty sure all statistics are made from poor samples
I have a feeling it will be the opposite.I look forward to the DF breakdowns showing time and time again why the PS5 version of multiplatform games are superior. Tbf most of your posts are pretty embarrassing too. So you have that in common with those of this thread. This thread and OP are embarrassing. Waaaaaaah DF didn't do a video on something that they haven't actually got to see or touch. You basically just want them to do a reaction video and make guesses because you prefer Sony and think everyone should be hyping up the playstation 5. Grow up and get over it.
Sony haven't sent units out. How can DF do a teardown of a console they don't have access to? Microsoft sent them consoles weeks ago, that's why they can do videos about it - because they have them. Maybe you should be asking why Sony haven't sent out hardware to DF?
Xbox does have RT in games at launch. You are spreading fud saying otherwiseNot sure why there’s some strange Xbox defence force for DF when there bias is so prominent.

You really have no self-awareness do you? Could you have described your own behaviour any more succinctly?you don’t need to claim anything. They’ve already made it. They can do whatever they want. It’s the claim that’s ridiculous because of who they are and what they do. It’s the biggest confirmed tech release of the year. There’s no offense taken or there shouldn’t be. Be critical, say what you want about the size or shape. Speculate that it has potential negatives. But uninteresting?
But if I was offended, the only thing I could think of that would be worse is coming into the thread and defending them whenyou have no intention of buying a PS5. Because someone like that has even less to do with analyzing or commenting on PS5 than a site dedicated to analyzing tech specific to gaming. There’s the bias that you were referring to.
imagine that? Just wandering in to defend, over and over and over.....
