Was Taysan banned because he said he was on era and gaf at same time?

Edit: nvm. Weird to use the same username. Low effort troll.

Big man stirring shit, the only ones "Not taking it well" are the trolls from Era LARPING.

The reason your website keeps going through cycles of normalcy alternating with abusive echo chamber is largely because of you. You're the common denominator. You seem determined to resist any kind of objective standard for moderation, and then surround yourself with people like the ones in this thread that will tell you 'up is down' as long as it is what you want to hear. These same people that go on about both sides being welcome, and make speeches about transparency and reversing permanent bans will tell you up is down as long as you make it known that's the way the wind is blowing. You'd do yourself a real favor to listen to the tiny minority of people that actually have enough character to disagree with you out loud, before you wake up in a few years in the same place you were before.

You didn't document at all what he was banned for, and you went to a perm immediately. I doubt he did a single thing against the rules here worth even a warning since you couldn't answer the question at all or link to a post. That guy took more abuse on here than anyone, and just remained calm and mild-mannered the entire time.

Almost everyone you're left with in this thread either has no consistency or integrity to tell you that you were wrong, or they're too scared to say it to your face because the bans are becoming more erratic and unpredictable. That's sure a great recipe for rationality and objectivity. Enjoy being told what you want to hear.

Is this actually the reason you banned him?

This is the tamest dad joke I've ever seen. For one slight moment, with Biden looking ever so slightly like he may be the winner, the perpetually-mocked and emotionally-muted TaySan slightly enjoys himself with the mildest, meekest, faintest ribbing I've ever seen; and it's not even on this website.

Don’t mistake weakness for virtue.

TaySan is not without flaw obviously, like anyone. I barely even talked to him. I hardly agreed with him on anything and have very little in common with him. But that's the whole point. He was able to post in discussions with just about anyone and never lose his cool. I never got the impression he was weak. The guy never talked back to or insulted anyone, and your mods call him an "obstacle" and prone to derailing. It's honestly the opposite, and the guy was possibly the most focused, and disciplined poster on here. In the end, that's why you had to ban him over an emotional reaction, since he never broke the rules.

Whatever ideal this site pretends to have - valuing the ability to talk calmly to people you disagree with - TaySan had that more than almost anyone here. What this place really incentivizes is cliques, echo chamber opinion, and constant abuse for any thought dissidents. You'll get more of what you incentivize.

TaySan told me to go fuck myself once :(

Although it does seem like his ban has more to do with his character, or lack thereof, rather than any particular infraction on GAF.

So while I disagree with the ban to a certain extent, he gets no sympathy from me. He was as disingenuous as they come, and while it was offsite, he showed that he had no qualms lying about this community and throwing us under the bus in order to score some pathetic brownie points with his comrades over at ResetEra. And let's not forget he championed the idea of setting a Trump owned building on fire with people inside, simply because of who they worked for. Yes he backed off on that, but only after he had his ass chewed out.

For those reasons alone, I say good riddance.

I remember telling TaySan in another thread a while ago that he should just leave ResetEra behind and only post here on GAF but he replied saying he enjoyed it there. I thought it was weird because these are two wildly different communities and you always read about users either leaving or being banned from ResetEra and returning here. Personally, I just can't imagine posting on another active online gaming community. We may not have a lot of industry insiders and the Gaming side can get a little repetitive with the console warring but it's pretty fun overall.

Yeah it looked to me like Taysan was attempting to troll GAFers in the election thread by doing drive bys. Going over to Era and actually engaging kinda shows the contrast and demonstrates that he wasn’t interested in conversation here.

Also contrast him with Nobody_Important Nobody_Important or SF Kosmo SF Kosmo who both engage the overwhelming dog piles in good faith.

I love being on a forum with diverse perspectives but that ban makes sense to me?

It's not like the two faced twat ever offered anything of value to discussions. His takes were utterly predictable shit that you could get from any average online lefty. Anyway, I'm not giving the dude anymore time.

His insights and opinions on almost everything were as original, thought out or sincere as anything printed inside a dollar store greetings card.

I know this post wasn't aimed at me (obvs) and I can't speak for others. But I find it odd you are constantly advocating for people to get unbanned even if you don't interact with them or know their post history. On top of writing an essay on why the jannies suck. You also mentioned cliques again, when a few pages down members were openly disagreeing over a ban. Idk what happened to you or why you think some members here are some autistic evil cabal but at this point it is cartoonish. I actually miss the old Miku Miku and like I said before if you aren't happy somewhere leave or just log off. Don't lose time or energy over little things. This is a gaming forum and taking things this seriously is fucking stupid.

I have no problem banning people who don’t want to be a part of the community sincerely. They’re not worth a second thought and undermine all the genuine people who do put in effort. Your characterization of TaySan is completely delusional.

Only been here a short while but I've become familiar with a handful of usernames even if I don't speak with them often.

A lot of young people, especially in the internet age, have informed their world views based on what their peers say rather than their own life experiences and their own research. People want to fit in and find a tribe.

My philosophy is to have empathy, we were/are all obstinate young men and women. We all have to spend sometime growing up and challenging our preconceptions be they political or not. Even more we can all relate to experience of wanting to fit in, wanting to feel wanted, wanting attention, or wanting to feel like we are making a difference. I think it goes along way to be kind, and try to challenge someone else's preconceptions by just being a friend to them and letting them realize that not everyone is the caricature they were led to believe in. It isn't always political either. Silly, but GAF does it a lot-all sorts of people here, fitness buffs, artists, business men, doctors, lawyers, sports fans...not just the caricature of the nerdy gamer that many people believe in. Being kind to someone different than you will go a long way to challenge their beliefs in what being different entails.

All of that said, empathy and friendship can only go so far. If someone isn't interested in reciprocating the olive branch then you just need to cut the cord. I think TaySan was probably a nice kid that just wanted somewhere to belong-for him that was another website and this was just a place he could get some more attention. He wasn't interested in reciprocating the welcome that was offered to him. Best for both him and GAF to split ways. Healthier for him to find an outlet that doesn't involve getting a rise out of others and healthier for GAF to not be so focused on one user. Wish him well and move on.

More importantly, Clapton is fantastic. One of the greats.

My attitude about him irked me until I just noticed his ban here, then something clicked: He was taking the best of both worlds and being rather two faced about it. Now he gets only one world and I'll be interested to see how that develops.
Take your echo chamber and scream in it too.

Wishing a painful death on someone is ban worthy to me. Specially someone that did nothing to you. What's next? Off with his head posts? No way fam.

Was it a member of the forum?

I like the idea of someone being able to walk back an angry, emotional, post made in poor judgement specifically when the anger is not necessarily target towards another user. Offer a public apology and be given a second chance. That said, when a violent wish or threat of violence enters the mix it becomes more difficult to give someone that chance.

The missing question is why?

Bullshit. Oh yeah trust Obama's Murrica. To do what exactly?
Shitty transatlantic trade agreements? Sending more people to the middle east? Approving of flooding Europe with many million invading parasites?
Fuck that incompetent and frankly gay maggot. Hope he dies a slow death.

You couldn't possibly be more wrong if you tried.

No one is denying it is a rant, but your assumption is there's no reason for it.

Specially someone that did nothing to you.

Obama's milquetoast attitude to foreign policy was laughable, and it most certainly has had a direct impact on myriad lives in Europe & the ME. I don't think anger like that comes from nowhere. I would have thought there was enough blood on the cleaver already from the election thread from actual provocateurs, so I'm curious as to why you're so keen on 'No way Jose' over this particular perm. Care to explain with big boy words?

What time is it?
TaySan's intentions were obvious.

My avatar describes my reaction to reading that diatribe yesterday. Then again, the tone here can be a little wild west. I'm not sure what the solution is but I do wish we could all be more civil to one another and the subject matter of our conversations. Then again, what the fuck do I know?

People stanning for Taysan? He only came here yesterday to drop latest tweets that showed Biden in front. Just posting gotcha's that were copy/pasted from era. Notice the distinct lack of gaffers following the election here and posting tweets over there? The rest of the names, you knew it was coming as soon as Biden won. They were just on the knife edge of being overly rude and combatitive but trying to contain it until the results looked beyond doubt. These people stick out a while when they come back to post as do the console warriors. The two groups who just can't blend in because of their extreme views. The strength of character is reflected in their magnanimity in victory.
