Destiny 2 launched. Loaded the beyond light cutscene. Stutters mess. Quit. Open ghost of Tsushima. Stuck at launch screen. Jesus christ

Same thing with 7Remake. This thing is just completely broken for PS4 games for me.

Update: Spiderman Remastered won’t launch at all now. It’s frozen on the application boot screen. Controller completely unresponsive.

Update again: system shut itself off after a few minutes on the launch splash screen for Spiderman. Booted back up. Repairing console storage. Black screen.

Gonna try a different external. Hopefully the external is just the issue.

Has anyone else tried No Mans Sky yet. What a massive difference! The game looks, sounds, and feels so much better. In fact , I put quite a few hours in on my pc (rtx 2070) and I have to say that this version crushes it on all levels. Not a single pop , skip, or judder. Even when traversing planets. Has a few nice touches with the triggers as well.
This hardware is put together really well.

I'm in love. So far I've only tried astro but it has all the charm of a Nintendo game. I can't wait to dig into sackboy. How are you guys liking it? I also picked up demon souls which I'm saving for last.
Yep. Feel the same way. Really does feel fresh and makes the PS4 really dated by comparison. The draw distance in Myles Morales is insane. The controller is constantly blowing my mind. Very happy with the purchase.

Rebooted device. It bitched about the external storage not being disconnected properly. Now it’s stuck at a black screen. The fuck

update: rebooted again and now it works!!! PS4 games load now too

Was it an external you had on your PS4?

Last night I was playing SpiderMan for around 20 mins and the game froze and the console shut down completely. I haven't had the issue since, but it's concerning. Anyone else had something like this happen?

The menus are elegant. It feels very high quality. I'm waffling on whether to download Dirt 5 or Demon Souls...

Well, no luck getting it at Walmart at 6 or 9. (Got it in the cart, got stopped right as I was trying to select a shipping address.) Hey remember when it was easier to buy stuff on line vs going to a store in person? BTW, anybody know of a good tutorial on how to buy with bots?

Well I am having a ton of issues so far. Booted up Demons Souls and tried to swap between cinematic and performance and I got a black screen then the game came back , froze and completely shut off the system. Tried about 5 more times to play and the same thing happened everytime within 5 minutes of continuing.

I also am stuck on nat type 3 for some reason although I was nat type 2 on ps4 and am hard wired via ethernet cable.

Tried loading a few ps4 games and got error code np-103028-4 and got the same code when trying to access my ps4 cloud storage.

Anyone else having similar issues?

Yes. The part where Rhino busted out of the armored vehicle. Game glitched and froze and went black and shut down. Been playing for about an hour since and it hasn't happened again thank god. I don;t have a good feeling about this TBH. Seems like a very common issue. Some have had this happen a few times and then brick. Kinda scary.

I'm looking at this thread and the Resetera thread and a lot of people seems to be having issues with their PS5... well comparatively more to the Series X. Maybe in a week they'll do a firmware update and Europeans won't get so many issues , but wow sounds to me a bit like the US is beta testing this for us. Good luck lads, and I hope to everyone does not get a bricked console, enjoy Demon's Souls and all other games.

I've had my PS5 on for about 4 hours now with 2 hours of Spiderman MM playing time and zero issues so far.

It might be a good idea to transfer saves using psn and disable rest mode for now until the firmware comes out.

Ok if there's anyone confused like me about why Astro's Playroom wouldn't have an option to invert the y-axis for the camera, you have to go into the system settings and find saved data/app settings and tell it to just universally change your y-axis to inverted for 3rd person and 1st person games.

Final update, hopefully: a different external is letting PS4 games work fine, so I’m thinking my 4TB external may be having issues. Gonna take it to work and run some diagnostics on it to see if it’s failing anything like SMART

Weird, I haven't had an issue at all so far with ps4 games. Booted KH3 and it ran fine, Chaosbane (Warhammer) worked fine also. Seemed to run as a ps4 pro in those instances.

Im suspecting it might be the external. Grabbed a different 4TB external and it seems to be working properly now. AC Unity launched as it should,Fairy Tail launched as it should, and 7Remake worked.

Mine happened when fighting Rhino towards the end of the fight. Kinda worrying so hopefully it doesn't happen again. Glad I'm not the only one though. Thanks for the reply.

Ok somebody else test this if you can, Try to run DMC5 ps4 edition and see what it says. It won't let me boot it and wants me to buy the ps5 edition...... Capcom better fix that or Sony........

No issues so far with mine.

Played some Spider-Man Remastered and it's gorgeous. The ray traced window reflections are mind blowing. You can see your tiny reflection in a building window from a block away. Insane.

My son played Astro and that looks great as well.

Finally, and most importantly: Demon's Souls. Holy crap. This is beyond the hype and I'm a big Demon's Souls fan. Looks stunning. Next gen is here. Even just the character creator puts any Souls game to shame. I'm going to be playing this for a long time.

SMRand DS looks SOOOO GOOOD!!! I think SM MM looks even better than Remastered, but that might be cause of the snow. I’m a sucker for snow

Do you have this thing out in the open or squeezed into a tiny space with no air circulation?

I don't know if this is the thread for it, but I'm going to ask and hopefully someone helpful will chime in. How do you set up HDR so that it actually looks good?? Maybe the problem is that my 4K TV is one of those cheap ones from Target you get on Black Friday. I've just never liked the way HDR makes things look. I experimented with it a lot on PS4 and preferred it off. It's like the shading on people's faces looks bad. Gives it a watercolor type sheen, I don't know how quite to explain it.

So now that I have PS5, I'm once again dealing with this and trying to make it look good.

Like the snow in Creed Valhalla is all shiny and unrealistic looking, and the city in Spider-Man looks yellow. Ultimately my characters always seem darkened and shadowed against the much brighter things behind them. What am I doing wrong here? They act like HDR is this wonderful thing and is even more of a leap forward than 4K is. I don't get it because on my TV it only makes things look worse.

NP man. I think I'm going to go add the three-year warranty tomorrow at BB just in case. I don't feel good about this.

Most times you go to Rtings and look up your set, or just google your EXACT tv model number and "HDR SETTINGS" and thats about it. Rtings settings might be "too yellow" but you get used to it and realize that their settings actually are the best for your set.

Cheap 4ktvs are sometimes lacking finesse in integration of basic things like HDR.

System got up & running quickly enough...but it says it will take 3 hours to download & copy data for Overwatch (not exactly a next-gen sized game). I don’t have the greatest Internet in the world, but I was hoping PS5 would be an upgrade for things like this.

EDIT: 3 hours = 10-20 minutes of actual time, thank God!

I think it treats all ps4 games as ps4, maybe the ps5 games won't have that anymore.

Ive noticed a glitch with installing games with regards to time estimates. Installing Valhalla and it finished copying the data needed to start the game, which caused the download/copy menu to show “99+ Hours” for the “Data Needed to Start the Game” section, though it was clearly done with that section.

Astro is surprisingly cool. Even with all the hype about the controller, it was still impressive.

I did some stuff in the hub area and then went to the SSD level. The jet parts where you use the resistant triggers to thrust yourself around and control with motion were really cool.

I have played mine a few hours today without any issues. I’ve also read through the Era thread and a few others and it sounds a bit worrying. I’m debating just playing AC and my Series X until we see if a PS5 firmware update hits in a few days.

Can't wait to get mine tomorrow. I'm going to start out with Astro's Playroom and then during the PlayStation Store black friday week I plan to pickup FF7 Remake, Persona 5 Royal, 13 Sentinals, and Ghosts of Tsushima.
Then when Gran Turismo 7 comes out next year I'll be using the system to its full capabilities :)

Man, this thing is a beast. I literally laughed out loud once I took it out of the box. I thought about putting up vertically, but the thing is so big and so attention grabbing - so decided to slip into the cabinet.... and trying to re-connect all the PSVR and all, took me quite some time to do so. I didn't have especially plentiful length for the power cord, so I struggled a bit trying to push into the place and adjust its placement - and that stand wouldn't stand in place - that everytime I push and especially pull, it would unclip, all while trying to put manage that cable.... Got a little bump on the top portion, and has made a little mark already. :(

My data transfer from PS4 pro was interrupted in the middle of transfer - either by power savings option on my PS4 pro or PS5.... and couldn't re-activate it. (I couldn't find download/upload... till much later). I went in and tried to data transfer again, but it was just keep saying that it's already doing it - while I see no numbers/bars moving on my storage informatin. I ended up factory-reset the thing and currently doing it all over again, with power saving options and everything set up correctly.

Wanted to see what my previous ones (Last of us remaster and Spider-Man regular) looked like... and they are obviously still being transferred.. I did play around with FF7 Remake - it froze in the opening screen, but restarting the process by going back to home screen & starting again solved it. Loading seems to be somewhat faster, but the texture streaming issue for Cloud's apartment door isn't fixed, frame rate seems to be about 30fps - definitely don't feel like 60fps. Damn you, Square! Bought Gravity Rush on sale out of whim - and runs pretty nice on my C7 65" OLED - it seems like solid 60fps, but not sure of its native resolution though - but looks darn good. I think I can safely retire my PS4 pro to my basement retro station.... that it looks like I can remote play PS5 with PS4, so I may end up doing that sometime too, when I'm doing laundry or sort.

Also played around with the Astro's Playroom - and it's quite charming! Very much looking forward playing the game further into. I found all that noise coming from the mic and controller were little gimmicky. The vibrations and all felt very neat, in stereo - and even the pulling action trigger & clicking felt quite neat too, but I guess my expectation was just way too high after hearing all that praise. I do love the controller, that it's quite comfy. So far, my favorite Dual Shock controller by far.

So far, the experience looks quite nice - UI is much easier for me thatn XSX because I'm coming from PS4 pro - but also it feels more polished. At the same time though, it is little bit buggier than XSX's UI at the moment. Speedwise, both UI are pretty responsive, compared to my PS4 pro and gasp, PS3.

Was expecting Polygon Man as the final boss, but what they did was even better.

Ok so I took this picture of my TV. The snow is blue in places, white in other places, and I just don't think it looks good. Is this how HDR should make things look?

Sorry, I've only seen bad HDR on cheap TV's myself, I'm sticking with my excellent 1080p tv.

There should be settings:
  • On the PS5
  • In the game itself
  • On your TV
One or all of these places probably need tweaks, hopefully with this screenshot someone here can quickly tell you the one place to go, or the one settings to adjust.

I'm sure there's SOMETHING that can be done here, cheap tv or not. There are a TON of places that can be tweaked.

I get mine tomorrow but I'm seeing people report a shitload of problems. Part of me doesn't want to take it out of the box now.
If it makes you feel any better, I had mine running with a handful of restarts for like 8 straight hours and didn't have anything bad happen.

I think people are just more likely to report something went wrong than to report that everything went right. So you end up with what seems like a lot of things going wrong even if it's actually a massive minority.

ACG mentions that you can watch a video in a small window on your screen while playing a game, I haven't heard/seen this before, but this sounds amazing, does anyone have some video of this in action?

The PS5 subreddit is in full blown panic mode and that sub usually sounds like paid pr for sony. What games are you playing? I've also heard that you have to have both PS4 and 5 versions of Cold War installed to play the game. That's 300+ gigs. I'm going to flip a shit if that's real.

If you’re using an old external, try a different one. My issues came from the external Ithink. A different external solved the issue for me.

I should’ve been clued in to my issue when it said Yakuza 7 would take 4 hours to install off the disk to my original external lol
