When a character walks on sand, players feel the grit in the controller; when Spider-Man grips a subway car, players feel the train’s rumble. Add it up, and it just may be the most powerful video-game console we’ve ever seen. —Matthew Gault

I'm happy to be a part of this exploration into the future of gaming

Odd question but I'm playing Demon's Souls on resolution mode and that is supposed to be capped at 30 on 4k... but uh that frame rate kinda feels a bit odd, and feels around 20FPS. Anybody had this or is it just me and my perception ?

Sony PS5 HDMI 2.1 Bandwidth is Capped at 32Gbps According to HDTV Test

And the plot thickens... 🤔

Why is this still a concern? I don´t get it. Someone explain this please. Both consoles won´t display COD Urban Warfare 2021 at 4K120fps ... and never will. So this really only matter to those, who want to play The Touryst at 6K120 on the XSX, indies.

This issue is so frivolous to say the least. 4K60 is all we get or 1080/1440p120 .. and for that you do not not need HDMI2.1. And i bet $1.99 that no one is capable of seeing the difference between 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 while racing at 60fps.

I'm pretty sure both PS5 and XSX do output the new CoD at 4K 120..

Actually both consoles output CoD at 4k120fps HDR... that is the signal passing thought the HDMI.

Upscaled?

Internally capped at 1080p .. so playing the newest COD on a C9 from 2019 should be in no shape worse than playing it on a CX.
There is no difference in terms of bandwidth between upscaled and native output.

The image quality is indeed different but the signal is full 4k120fps HDR.

BTW if PS5 can output 4k120fps HDR10 4:4:4 then the video is already FUD.

I have no idea whats the games rendered res. I doubt its native 4K.

But the consoles send a 4K 120 Hz HDR10 output signal to the TV via the included HDMI cable.

Edit
However, to output 4K @ 120 Hz with 10 bit color, RGB 4:4:4, the HDMI port needs more than 32 Gb/s. So if the PS5 is capped at 32 currently, then it will just go down to 4:2:2 instead. Minor reduction in fidelity but not a big issue.

The PS4 Pro HDMI 2.0 port can only do 4K @ 60 Hz with HDR10 RGB at 4:2:2 anyways. So we know the PS5 can at least (for now) do the same but at 120 Hz. It'll likely get updated to the full 48 Gb/s later. We know the PS5 can output 12 bit color already.

No. It’s already showed in the UI it’s only having 4:2:2 for now at 4K 120Hz.

Matt from the other site said this will be updated.

These fucking people hahaha, first thirty minutes is all about trying to throw shade about ps5, how there are so many breaking, they are clocked to high, wired noises be heard, screws lose lol, constant crashing, how sony are desperate to go to 6-nanometer chips hahaha hahaha. These fucking people are so god damn delusional. xbox might not winning in the multi plates but at least it does not look like your tv is going to explode.

these fuckers have no shame,

Dont bring this cancer to the thread please, i clicked and inmediatly regretted it, lets just not give them any clicks

I remember Lisa mentioning that i don’t remember where, then we’ve seen Sony partnership with Epic and the UE5 demo, was wondering if that is going to be the standard going forward, i could be completely delusional tho
But what exactly did Lisa mention? You mean ND Tech?

LOL this guy

By summer 0f 2020, just months before the launch of the Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles devs had full access to software tools for the PS5 for nearly a year and Xbox was just getting gamecore or the GDK, the game development kit, in hand to optimize the latest games. For big games like AC Valhalla this meant that the Xbox Series X was getting a mix of the PS5 version and the Xbox One X version.

Can't believe he's making up this stuff, but I can't deny this is funny as fuck, lol.

Well guys, it's here and it's fabulous :)

Demon's Souls is too good. I found myself slowly walking every single corridor. I've beaten the game in the past both on the PS3 and earlier this year on PC emulation. I thought the graphics would be the key thing as the loading times on the emu were nearly zero.

But nope, it was a combination of the visuals (yes, they are great) together with the sound and controller feedback. The sense of immersion felt as mind blowing as when I tried VR for the first time. You hear every cracking sound of floorboards, enemies breathing and groaning. It puts you in a place where you stop interacting as if it was a video game, instead you feel like you're really there. As a consequence you stop running around like an idiot, it just feels normal to walk as if you would in real life and consume all the extra sensory information you're getting.

I don't know if everyone would be affected this way. I'm sure there's a connection to this spatial sound profile Cerny was talking about. I did the test and all 5 of them sounded like they were coming from different places. Only the 4th one seemed about right to me.

Having said this, I played Spider Man MM as well. The feeling of immersion is night and day when compared to DeS. The game is gorgeous, fun and the loading transitions are nowhere to be seen. But that's it, it feels like a game, just prettier. Demon's Souls feels TRUE next gen.

I honestly can't fucking wait for other actual ground up built titles that are next gen exclusives. I loved my PS4, but seriously, I hope it dies and fast! You can't go back after you experience true next gen games. I can only compare this shift to going from SNES Mario to Mario 64 (complete paradigm shift).

But hey, that's just me :)

Yesterday I received my PS5, too.
I have to say, that the PS5 is definitely hearable. Not loud but hearable. The XSX is much quieter, nearly making no noise at all.
On PS5 you can hear the fans spinning and buzzing a bit. (coil whine?)
On XSX you can only hear the wind.. Only if you are really really close, you can hear a bit the fan.

About the controller: Dual Sense is definitely a big upgrade compared to DS4.
Vibrations and Triggers are awesome. I hope it will not stay as a gimmick and will be used in further titles too. Very ergonomic like the Xbox Controller.

Size: uff, that thing is really huge... XSX fits better into my living room.
Small rant: power cord and HDMI cable are pretty short 😅 couldn't place it where I originally planned because of this.

UI: very clean and elegant. Don't know how to describe it better. Still gives me a lot of PS4 UI vibes.

Astro Playroom: awesome way to demo your console Sony. Funny little charming game.

Now I need to check what games I should play on the PS5 :D

Tbh, looking at those visuals. I have no doubt this game could run at 16K 120fps

Best thread on GAF by a country mile.....There's a reason it's always way up there on the front page, always in podium range...Always gracing us with a podium finish every single day.....It has definitely brought alot to the GAF table....News, tech, debate. light and humorous banter....It has it all....I call it BTOG....(BEST THREAD ON GAF)....It's definitely in running to sweep the thread awards...

If only we could get sircaw sircaw to stop posting in it, then it would be the best thread on the whole Internet "lollipop_disappointed:

lol.. ah yes, it was just too difficult for me, that's it lol

I said it's "barely a game", so.. it's a game ;)

It's just an incredibly basic platforming game.. not sure how anyone could argue otherwise.. the main point of it is just a tech demo, and what people seem to be enjoying, is finding easter eggs and references to Sony/Playstation stuff.. that just doesn't excite me *shrug*

Now I know why you have some business with Microsoft.:lollipop_smirking:
