Kind of makes you wonder, doesn’t it? I’d guess that with resolution and framerate being what’s dropping on X, though, it’s not the case. If S were holding X back, it’d be in the asset quality itself.

You need to relax. DF isn't like you, where you want to take all the early results of tests on launch games and use that as proof PS5 is better then Xbox. I'd say it's a pretty obvious bug if both 120hz modes on the X/S are using the same LOD. posting a twitter clip from the DF video doesn't disprove what they said. If codemasters comes out and says this is not a bug, or doesn't fix it in a patch, then you can claim superiority.

Basically this comes down to you wanting to crown PS5 king, and DF is holding off doing that as launch titles are typically down to the wire, and not indicative of performance compared to tiles released months out.

MS is seeing the effect of forcing devs to port to 3 different specs. Alot of devs are likely just porting the One X code to the Series architecture. At any rate, its disingenuous to call these games "Optimized".

The sooner MS can get their tools up-to-date, the better.

Exactly! Oh but remember 60fps mode is great on Series X because you can "Just turn on VRR". I'm really disappointed in John Linneman's take and especially damage control for Series X performance and how he continued to throw in a VRR line to make it seem both consoles are equals.

Of course it can be used as a solution, it's a supported feature on Xbox hardware. Yes devs should do better as 25% tanking of framerate is unacceptable gameplay wise, your going to feel that with no VRR.
I just got a VRR set and it makes Valhalla and Dirt 5 perfect with no tearing or stutter to deal with. Shouldn't give devs a pass but at least I have it to give me the best performance.

I think we have a Mac vs Pc situation here, when we are talking about specific work the optimization is king.
I don't buy that much the "update can resolve all problems" thing because both of the consoles will improve with time and Cerny have already made clear the "devs at the center " ps5 philosophy so the improvement on the ps5 side will be an open road.

That real peformance is more important than theoretical maximums. It's why people say an RDNA2 TF =\= GCN TF. You need more TFs in a GCN card to match a lower number of TFs in an RDNA2 GPU.

If Microsoft don't use just the TFLOPS to compare Xbox Series X GPU to the Xbox One & Xbox One X why is everyone else using it to compare it to PS5 ?

They only claim a 4-6X raw GPU advantage over Xbox One while having 9X TFLOPS advantage , The triangles rate advantage is the part that bring it down to 4 -6X the raw GPU output & PS5 actually has the advantage in triangle & pixel fill rate so why do people keep using the Xbox Series X GPU...
