PS5 stick drift is apparently already happening.

Good. Let them suffer and feel my pain.
Yes I'm salty about not getting a console due to availability, bots, and scalpers.

If you allowed yourself to get scalped for a console you deserve to drift
Cope.

Out of 5 DS4s, I had 3 drift with the right stick only usually along the vertical axis. My original pair of Joy-cons had both sticks drift eventually. Both XB1 controllers had no issues (one for PC, one for the console).

Prior to this generation, I never had controller drift for any console.

I was really hoping that this time around I could be free of the concern of that developing yet again.

Shit the problem that I have playing first person shooters still exists and not solved cmon Sony don't cheap on your components
Yeah FPS are the ones that killed my sticks.

My first stick was killed by Far Cry 4. The second was killed by... Far Cry 4 when my sister played it.

Could they fix this with a software update for the controller?
Software can set the deadzone for sure. But these simple things usually seem beyond these brainiacs.

If it actually happens to more than this one guy, I’m sure conversations will spark up.

Never had this problem with any controller. Haven’t stopped playing Demons Souls and the controller feels great. Maybe some folks are heavy handed or unlucky?

I think things are being amplified on the forum. There are 2-3 million units out there and even if you search social media sites, the issues on all 3 consoles are miniscule.

My brother has a controller with a right trigger that has come sort of loose. I felt it the other day and it's definitely not right. It started happening just a week into owning it.

I wonder if it's fixable but I don't want to open one of these things up yet. And he doesn't want to go 2 weeks without a controller to play PS5 with to do the Sony repair process.

I'm really lucky because I haven't had stick drift on any of my joy cons, pro controllers or DualSchock controllers.
Luckily my DualSense seems fine as well.

They used pretty much the same analog sticks as DS4 in this controller so it's not too surprising.

Comparison is at 6 minutes in.

Could you clarify “same analog”? The DualSense’s mechanism has actually been altered in a very interesting way compared to DualShock 4. Take a look at how the mechanism is oriented. I forget the YouTuber but they mentioned this as possibly helping alleviate stick drift due to wear with the L3/R3 button being placed northward now instead of south (on the DualShock 4). The analog texture is also light years ahead of DS4’s launch and, to some extent, the latest DS4 iteration.

I think my dual sense right stick is starting to drift! Playing GoT and every so often the camera pans right to the sky quickly. Never had this in all my years of gaming. If it persists then I’ll try resetting and failing that get in touch with Sony.

Mind boggling that some people in this thread are trying to normalize stick drift after 2 weeks

This is not normal

Mind boggling that posters take one or 2 instances in 5 million to be a significant number to post on a forum their concern and think this is the norm.

I never get over the stupidity and ignorance of that from posters whether about xbox or Playstation.

People needed to pay more attention in school, especially maths and statistics.

Nothing to see here, move along.

I had a DS4 stick drift on me after 4 days of use, I then used some specialist electrical WD-40 and compressed air on it and it hasn't drifted in a year, I didn't even need to take it apart.

Just flooded under the stick and rotated 40 times each direction, then compressed aired it in a similar fashion and let it dry for a day.

Its not good trying to eat a kebab while gaming.....just some fun on dirt getting in controllers and just about to pick up a hot one.

At least Sony has you to do damage control for them. Otherwise we might go on thinking that some people actually have problems with their hardware.

That's exactly same part (even from same supplier) as in DS4. Rotating it will not help with stick drift at all. To fix that problem they would need to redesign sticks (which basically didn't changed since Dual Analog Controller) to remove potentiometers from design. That problem exists in every controller with that type of sticks.

Tried resetting with a pin which didn’t work then restoring software which didn’t work either. Looks like I’ll be on the phone when they open tomorrow. Not what I expect from hardly any use and what has it been, a month or so since release?

Good thing I have a spare dual sense still sealed otherwise I’d have an expensive box I couldn’t use whilst on holiday. 🙄

Its called education and understanding simple numbers.

You are really ignorant of what is statistically significant if you think this subject needs damage control.

It really irritates me that some people are so dumb, you must be trolling hopefully as there is no hope for some people.

At least in threads like these we can see who the idiots are.

We certainly can. They run in to try to gaslight everyone who has a legitimate problem and then astroturf for a faceless corporation. They try to keep people from talking about their problems. It's rather disgusting. It would be best if they just stayed out of threads like this since they have nothing valuable to add to the conversation. But they can't let people say mean things about a plastic box.

Drift is pretty much an inevitability with analog sticks but not this quickly, even so a simple fix would be allow user customizable dead zone settings at OS level like the Xbox elite controller.

No I never said its an issue people talking about their problems, Try reading english. I know its hard for you, but try reading a little.

I said its dumb that people extrapolate a few failures in millions to then make GENERIC statements about hardware in general.

I also say the same thing about PC parts or XBOX parts funny enough and said same thing when Xbox smoked or whatever crap was going around.

Discuss away, just dont think a few instances in millions is a design or quality issue, its called mass manufacture and is normal. Can you understand, should I use simpler words and shorter sentences ?

Your argueing against something I never said or implied, do you know what that is called ?

Discuss away the issue, but if you say a few instances = millions, imply a design or quality issue or damage control, then you sir are an idiot.

Did they change someone in the production of those controllers to save money? We have generations with no problem and suddenly all have stick drift.

Things like this pissing me off. Keep quality, not keep being cheap.

I mean if its happening to one person, it will happen to more people.

Wow, a few instances in 5 million or so = all controllers are cheap now.

Do you work in statisical analysis ?

How many drift controllers did we have before Switch? I cant remember one.

This is the first time i hear now that a Playstation controller is drifting after 4 generations.

Now we just have to wait if the problem keeps popping up sooner or later. Its still early in the life cycle even with 5 million sold so fast.

Give it another few months and if nothing else gets reported, then you are right. ;)

I haven't noticed it in any of the games I played, however, in Cyberpunk I can see my right joystick has some drifting/super small dead zone as it will scroll menus by itself.

This is mitigated in-game as I increased the deadzone, still annoying in the menus

All my DualShock 4 had Stick Drift, ALL OF THEM. iT WAS very subtle but it was there.

DualSense does not have this problem so FAR and i´ve used them ALOT already.

No wait until there are 1 % of 5 million and then we can maybe discuss. This is not a switch. I had ps3 and 360 controller small issue in the past, and replaced them, such drama.

This is a Cyberpunk issue. I've tried four controllers that are all fine, it happens with all of them.

The deadzones in N64 controllers is like 40x larger than dualshocks.
Had N64 controllers use deadzones as tiny as DS controllers they too would also be drifting.

It's really unnecessary to have deadzones that small.
All it does is make your controller design to fail faster.
