Alright your passive aggressive comment are uncalled for, if you don't want to be civil move on.

I just explain to him that the text is not weird at all. That you guys have trouble with whether or not it's ingame, I can't change that?

They never said they did, unless i missed it. Its just tiresome little warriors trying to start shit when there is no need.

I don't know, you started with this bullshit and now you are crying for the mods? fuck off dude...

Ooo pretty. Looking forward to the gameplay debut.

E3 here we come. :messenger_ok:

Ninja Theory are just on another level.

These are really nice, I love those!

Here are more real-time 3d clouds in games:

And some more!
Some better examples from DriveClub.

Holy moly they're just clouds using recent unreal engine features called flow maps. That's it. You don't have to go on a crusade because a Sony game had volumetric clouds, too. Nobody is claiming this is groundbreaking never-before-seen-technology quietly shared in a 10 second tweet. It just looks nice.
John Linneman from digital foundry thinks different. This implementation is far more impressive as John has pointed out.

I saw. I also find it more impressive than past examples. I just don't see the need to draw immediate comparisons as if there's some insecurity over cloud technology.

Having the clouds on 'max detail' creates some impressive scenes.
I was playing, doing a long trip accross country, and the clouds rolled in and surrounded me, so i raised altitude and broke through, and the light from the sun was above highlighting the clud tops, while sun beams were pearcing clouds all around me. It was honestly the most 'real' thing i even felt in a game.

Go read some of his comments in this thread, if you're still confused then I don't know what to say to you.

Well what i wanted to explain to him wasn't anything aggressive. Sorry if you saw it that way, but on the other hand you do come across as very frustrated with everyone.

Very telling that you took that warrior commnet was me talking about you, even though i never mentioned anyone. :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

Stop bullshitting...

Kidding, but this thread reminds me of me getting interested reading about some of the progress Guerrilla Games made on its Nubis cloudscape system for Decima engine for games after Horizon 1 (they're working on some methods of cloud movement visible in the Horizon 2 trailer, plus "rendering clouds in front of objects, close to the player with more detail, adding more distortion behaviors, and adding the remaining cloud layers" according to their 2017 SIGGRAPH presentation on the present and future of that tech), so we're going to have a nice battle on our hands here. Looking forward to what some of the big studios can do up in the air there.

People can't appreciate cool technical details in game development?
Easy to take it things like this for granted, but just 20 years ago I would've never fathomed getting to actually experience something this detailed and life-like in real time.
People can do whatever they want. I like pretty things. For me, though, it starts to lose its meaning as an actual game when it's so easy to get lost in the tech. Nothing wrong with it. Just not my thing, I guess,

Flow maps I would wager.
Yeah, part of Unreal Engine 4/5.
Here’s some from UE4

Really? You've come into a thread with an agenda to downplay the visuals of an Xbox series game as "not impressive". You even compared it to a PS exclusive on PS4 for crying out loud. Someone else has come in talking about a PS3 game being comparable 🙄 this fanboy mentality is growing weary. I said passive aggressive there's a difference.

The insecure Sony bros in this thread is extremely cringeworthy. An Xbox dev doing something good does not invalidate Sony devs.
Thing is on Thursday everyone will be saying how amazing Horizon 2 looks (even xbox owners). Just cos this is an Xbox game, oh its been done before even from previous generations. How many PS exclusive gifs have been posted so far? 😂

The cloud footage looks like it repeated twice with the same exact formations was that just a demo to show off the clouds or are these on a preset loop, hopefully it is more dynamic.

MS specifically used this game to showcase the SX in 2019 (if I recall correctly). They clearly have high hopes for it.
The first one looked pretty good to begin with, I'm not worried for that... It's just that the first one began quite slow and I got bored before I finish the initial walk (not sure if there is much combat anyway, I red on some reviews that there isn't).

I assume this one will be more action oriented.

4 minutes of driveclub cloud porn

What he means is that at the game's actual speed the clouds will not hold up if they move too fast because they are updated only a couple of times per seconds (every couple of frames on a game that only runs at 30fps on base PS4)... I wonder about the PC version's clouds now.

Still, I really like the effect and I have come to expect this from major PS titles.

My initial thought was the clouds in the new horizon game (time stamped):

But I think this game is cross gen, my assumption is that the clouds will be much less precise on the PS4.

People do need to start looking at images more closely. That image of Senua's costume from before was a photo of the actress with some costume elements being real (or at least composited photography) and some elements clearly painted on.

I think Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 has it beat.

For real, this must be a problem for game developers: "how can we make these clouds look more cloud'y than any other clouds in gaming?

Hobbygaming

has been asked to post in 'Grounded' mode.
Are you serious right now?

Not a single person interrupted the circle-jerk over two PS4 quality screenshots in Horizon:FW thread to derail it with screens of other games. That would have surely gotten the mods attention. Yet, you manage to do exactly that in this thread? Get outta here with that shit man!
Oh calm down it's hardly a derail it was just a reply to someone saying that we have no next generation graphics yet. There's other games/tech being shared here. Relax
