Don't see nothing wrong with him personally because in norse mythology Thor is described as a barrel-chested ugly man , it's Marvel's version that's wrong .

I think he looks too soft and not menacing enough.
I've read a lot of stories about Thor and the other Norse gods in the past but don't ever remember him being portrayed or described like that. He looks like a joke character you wouldn't take seriously. It's a shame after the epic tease of him in the trailer. Maybe Odin is the real threat.

If you want to read up on it then I really want to recommend Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology that came out a couple of years back. Most of the people on here seem to think that these stories were written like the Bible (dull, dry, and boring) which absolutely wasn't the case. And Gaiman does a fantastic job of bringing it to modern audiences.
I'll also link the Danish Valhalla comic that has been releasing on and off for the past 40 years. They might offend some American sensibilities (despite being made for kids) but they are rooted in the original myths and very much worth reading.

LOL Thor is a Warrior God not a weightlifter. Those physiques are awful for combat. Look up modern special forces guys. Nah, the mythological Thor was very tall with bright red hair, not squat and fat, had great big metal gauntlets so he could hold his hammer (whose handle was actual lightning), and wore a big belt that gave him super strength beyond what he already had. Why would the Norse god of thunder be a stupid-looking fat guy?
I think it's a silly design choice personally. I like the reddish hair, at least that is closer to accurate, but the rest is awful.

If I had a choice between a Marvel THOR look or this Roy Nelson look, I'd choose the fatty. Something different and it cuts out the Hollywood glam look which GOW isnt supposed to mimic.

I thought the design looked great. It totally wasn't what I was expecting but It makes sense that people in cold weather retaining body fat. I think it looks more realistic and gritty.
Thor isn't menacing. In norse mythology he's quick to anger, sure, but he's also the greatest element of comedic relief.

I hope he truly understands what he's saying here and will keep it consistent. Though a man child will only act on his basal instincts, as soon as he faces real adversity in the name of Kratos, he should collapse straight away into a ball of crying mush. Not only he's unable to go the distance, the moment he'll feel fear is the moment he's out of the picture. The only way to circumvent this is by making Thor several magnitudes stronger than Kratos, and defeat him by trickery.
Well, we'll see. Looks like a regular pisshead though.

The problem is not that he is fat. Last Thor's MCU was fat too but it wasn't ridiculous and he still looked like a strongman.
